Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Hi all!

Wow everyone is doing fantastic! I have been fighting a cold since I ran last Wed. and haven't run since but I am feeling better today so I am planning to go out for an easy 2mile run tonight. I hope I don't cough the entire time and that I can breath! I won't beat myself up too much if I can't run the entire time but that is my goal. Bob and I've were looking at some 5k over the weekend and we found some that sound like fun races so we'll see which one(s) we can fit into our summer plans. I really need to sign up for a couple and I am still considering the DL 5K. I would love to run with you all but I am hesitant to tie up a long weekend in case we want to go camping but I'll let you all if I do decide to sign up.

I'm very happy to hear that everyone is progressing and working on their goals!

I hope you all have a great day!

Hi girls!
How's everyone doing?

Yesterday was tough, diet-wise. Sundays are always the hardest day of the week because we go to church and they have donuts, cookies, monkey bread, etc. I was really proud of myself because I only had 1/2 a donut, pretzels, 1 banana, and some instant hot chocolate (with water).

When I came home I had 5 egg whites and 1 slice of ham.
Lunch was two carne asada tacos. Diana made them for me! 1 corn tortilla, 1 flour tortilla, carne asada, tomatoes, avocado, lettuce and 1 cup of Sangria soda.
Later we had golden spoon YUM! for only 136 calories and 6 grams of protein.
Then I had one serving of animal cookies (the bad part!) but they were only 140 calories :thumbsup2

Overall a pretty healthy Sunday compared to past ones.

Saturday I had my 2nd session with Tyrae at the park. He made me run up a small hill, when I reached the top I had to do 10 sit ups, run down and that was just one rep! I alternated doing push ups and sit ups at the top of the hill. I did that 10 times. It really helped take the soreness out of my thighs. Then we did crunches, 5 reps of 10.

Our park is "two stories" so as you climb ,there are different exercises to complete. He made me do the balance beam and I have terrible balance! I fell off so he made me do 10 push ups as "punishment" From there he made me do step ups on the park bench, 3 sets of 10.

The soreness is finally subsiding, just in time for my next session tomorrow afternoon.

Hi all. How is everyone doing this week? I tried something new (shaking up my points by having a high point day) but now I feel nervous about the wi this week and I feel ... ok this may be TMI but I feel kind of backed up! Not fun. I also missed one work out this week due to traffic issues though I did some gardening and took a couple easy walks with the family. Cristabel I am enjoying hearing about your experience with a trainer! Hope you get the results you are looking for!

Sarah

Morning everyone!

Jen, I didn't quote you but I wanted to say WELCOME BACK! We missed you.

Hi all!! Another stressful week for me at work. But thank goodness for weekends!!

I finally had a good week on the scale and stopped the 1 lb at a time crawl. Of course, the stress probably did it so I may see it go back this week.

But...my weigh in yesterday was 180.5.....-4 from last week. 63 lbs gone since I started!! Wooohooo!! It seems like just yesterday I was hoping for a below 200 weigh in so I am so amazed to be nearing the 170's!!

Really need to get back to exercise though. Worried about that. Second course of antibiotics really seemed to help but I am still getting short of breath with just regular activity (like today when I went to get groceries). I did get an inhaler last week...haven't used it yet. Keep saying I am going to just try the treadmill and keep it handy. But I have been scared. Just need to get my butt on there and see what happens.

doctor" "lawyer" "basketball player"....so they get to Sam and he proudly says "I want to be a robot!!!". Too funny. At least he didn't say he wanted to work at DL.
??

Robot, that is sooo cute! Amy WOW!!! You wear that banner well! Look at you go. We're all watching and cheering you on. :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

You're doing great. Keep going. Mineral or salt baths help with the muscle soreness. :yay::banana:

Beth, not gaining is the key! Just checking in here is a help to you. :woohoo:

Hi Sarah! I don't know your program but if you can eat salad stuff (lettuce, celery), fruits, and oatmeal, this shouldn't be a problem.

I am becoming really busy so I had to miss two days in a row of exercise. I was back at it yesterday, but it shows on the scales. I see my trainer today.

One nice perk - was at one of my derm's, a doctor's office that hasn't seen me for about a year, yesterday. The nurse did one of those "wow, you've lost weight" things that I am usually disappointed when people don't notice.

Have a great day everyone!

All of a sudden I feel very depressed. I feel like there is nothing I am really good at. It seems that everyone else has something they are great at and that I am just mediocre at best. I wish I could feel better about myself but right now there is not one thing about me that stands out above the rest.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I don't know what talents, or skills you have or have yet to discover, but I do know that in the almost 3 years I've known you, you are one of the kindest, most genuine people I've ever met. And that says a lot. There are a lot of rude idiots out there in the world who will never master that talent.

Just stopping in to say hello. Busy week here. Lots of appts this week, and then next week is Vegas with the Divas! I'm not even trying to lose right now, just focusing on maintaining. We have lots of meal plans next week, so we'll see how it goes.

Sarah, what brought this on??? I'm confused because at first I thought you meant exercise... running...? But now I think not.

The key to life is not to compare yourself to other people. Really. You can drive yourself crazy that way. Bill Gates has more money; Madonna has more fame, etc.

But really, you don't know how happy they are inside. Madonna can't hold a relationship. Steve Jobs has had cancer to deal with. If you are enving others, remember that you don't know what things they may be battling.

No one is you. And your life is your gift. If you are not lying in a hospital bed unable to move for the rest of your life, then you are one lucky person. And life is what you make of it. Only you can change your life. Only you can make yourself happy.

So take this as a wake up call. Take time to discover you and what makes you happy. What would you like to learn or become better at? Go to the library and investigate. Explore. Enjoy the process.

Wow! Keep up the great work with the trainer! Sounds hard but fun!

Ah, my friend...I think you deserve a big hug.
And go get a piece of paper and write down 10 things that you are great at...and another 5 things that you want to better at...your dreams.

I think we all feel like this sometimes. But we must be our own biggest fans. And perhaps "standing out above the rest" isn't the most important thing at all, but rather to be great to the ones we love the most, or to be happy and fulfilled.

Fear not my friend. OF COURSE, you are great! And if there's still stuff you want to be better at, well then those are the dreams you must pursue!

QUOTE OF THE DAY
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly,
what is essential is invisible to the eye.

And your life is your gift.

Yes, LIFE IS A GIFT. A precious gift that we too often take for granted. And we have so much more potential than we realize. No time to waste on self doubt, our ego, our insecurities, our pride. There is so much to do, to learn, to love. And we are all so blessed with opportunity and capability. We can't get in our own way. We must live our lives fully, deliberately, and with gratitude, love and enthusiasm.

Sorry to get all "Oprah" on you, but it was the "mid-life crisis thing" that got me interested in this thread, half marathons, etc, in the first place. We've got all we need to live wonderful, rich lives. Carpe diem!

Sarah, I'm sorry you feel depressed! I have had my fair share of those kind of days. I just suggest you get to the gym or start a video at home and sweat out the bad energies. Endorphins and Seratonin are your bodies natural feel good drugs and exercise releases them.

So after today's session Tyrae walked me over to the scale and weighed me. He didn't even let me look! I didn't want him to weigh me because prior to our session I had drank 8 cups of water and had eaten within 2 hours before meeting up. Even with that I have lost 4lbs! I'm at 252 so technically I have maintained a lost of 10lbs of my original 20 that I lost! :thumbsup2
I'm going to weigh myself again on Friday morning, straight out of bed without eating to see a more accurate weight.

Cristabel - :yay: Way to go!

Sarah - Sorry you're feeling depressed! I've been in a bit of a 'funk' myself lately but I've talked myself out of it by realizing how very fortunate I am to have wonderful friends and family and a wonderful guy. You are a very special person, you have two beautiful children and a loving husband...I'm not sure what you are looking for within yourself but we all are special in our own way, really we are! Make sure to take time for yourself, laugh, get some sleep, do something that makes you happy.'s to you!

As for me I did go running last night. It was a slow run and I only ran a little over 2 miles in 30 min. but that was my goal so I was happy with that. I had some trouble breathing and kept getting 'gunk' in my throat and had a major coughing attack when I finished but other than that it felt great to get back out there! Now my goal is to run more than once a week.:rotfl: I plan to get back to my schedule of running every other day hoping that all of my traveling won't derail me again. I am looking forward to running near DL while I am there over the weekend and next week. But then it is back to Denver and running in the altitude. I don't know why I let that freak me out...WTH I grew up at 7000ft and Denver is only 5820!! Bob already has running in our Yosemite schedule so I guess I'll be running there too!:laughing:I thought we would get enough physical activity in with hiking and biking but nooooo...

Jen - Glad you are back!

Beth - There is nothing wrong with maintaining! I hope your appt. with the dentist went well. I need to go! Maybe you will be the motivation I need, if Beth can do it - I can do it!

Amy - You are awesome! Keep up the great job and I'm excited to hear about your progress with running! (Even though I've been a bit of a slacker lately!)

Hi to anyone I may have missed!:wave2:

Thanks everyone. I did go for a long walk with my family tonight and feel a bit better. The computer is in my daughters room so I have to go but will try to be on more tomorrow.

Cristabel - Woo Hoo!!!!!!

Vicki - Great job getting out there and running! You can do it!!!

Sarah

PS I didn't make top ten on the BL thread this week - I am kind of bummed but I also expected it after I saw everyone elses loses for the week...they did great while I did OK. Hopefully this next week will be better but I feel so bloated I just don't know.

I've been eating good and I walked 3.5 miles today!

Yeah!! :cool1:That's more than 5k!!
Did you sign up for DL 5k yet??

Go Cristabel!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I did about 4 miles today.
And did the resistaband video last night. Can feel sore muscles today I never knew existed.

Sarah -

I was too busy today to make it to the gym and I feel awful. I am going tomorrow. I'll try to put some Wii or somethng on tonight.

Another great quote, Jen!

Jen, Vicki, Cristabel, Donna, Sarah, Beth, Amy and anyone I may have missed:wave2: I hope you are all doing well!

Stopping in to say hi! I ran 2.5 miles last night...it was harder than Monday for some strange reason because my cold is almost gone but I was happy that I finished. I argued with myself not to walk after 1 mile because I really wanted to! Those arguements are really fun! Geez! I'm planning to just run the 2.5 miles for the remainder of this week and then try to up it to 3 miles.

My running for the next several weeks will be a challenge because I will be in Anaheim from Sat. until Wed. and then I have one day at home and then I leave for Denver on Friday and will be there until July 3rd. And then we are going to Yosemite July 4 - July 11. I will have to really find my inner motivation to make sure that I don't let myself become lazy and not run. I know Bob will make sure I run in Yosemite but he won't be around for the two weeks prior. Wish me luck!

Is there another Vicki here?

Anyway, good going!!! You have your own inner "Bob." You will do great. :yay:

OK, question for everyone...what is it about Bobs and trainers? My personal trainer is Bob, Vicki's personal trainer (plus extra BF benefits ;) ) is Bob. Then there's the Biggest Loser Trainer Bob and Oprah's Trainer Bob? Bob=trainer, I guess. Just something I was wondering...

Vicki: Great job on the running! Woohoo! :cool1: Good luck keeping up the exercise program the next few weeks. My advice for Denver -- get thyself to the fitness room every morning. :cheer2: Wake up a little earlier and run on the treadmill or do the elliptical for 30 minutes. :cheer2: You will feel so much better and the treadmill is a cool thing to use every now and again to get a better feel of your speed and form. Oh, and you could always bring that resistaband with you....

I'm going to try to get some exercise in today. I'm still sore from running yesterday and resistaband two days ago. But I can say that I do feel better, just in terms of my overall mood, now that I am exercising more again. I really think I need it now. I'm so cooped up in my house in front of this darned computer all day. It's critical to get up and move. Just hard to remember that on some days...
