Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Hi Ladies!

Happy Monday!
I did a 40-45 minute run today. Also got a new pair of pants from Target: not size 12, not size 10, but size 8! I'm sure they are just sized big (they also didn't have a waist which is my trouble area), but still nice.

Happy Monday morning WISHers!! :)

I've gone back to planning out my menu for the next day, the night before. It helps to have a meal plan complete with calorie count all laid out for me and ready to go. Because when it's time to eat and I am hungry, I do not want to take time to count calories, and I tend to grab whatever. lol

Thank you, Beth! I used to do this and I'm gonna get back to it. It does make it a lot easier.

Hey, Target's clothes run small usually! So big CONGRATS!!! How beautiful is that number???!

:banana::cheer2:

I am headed back to the gym. I might have skipped today to rest but I left my lock on the locker so I have to return. Guess it's like leaving something at your bf's house... you have to go back. ;)

Awesome!!! Even when I was in high school and weighed 125 pounds I was never a size 8. :rotfl: Good for you!! :cheer2:

Cute quote too. :goodvibes

Hey gals! I hope you all are having a great monday!:yay: My day was okay...I am tired. Mondays kill me. The kids are always wound up and often times grumpy. But, I survived.;)

You all are doing so well with your exercise! I really need to get started with actual exercise. I am on my feet most of the day and once I am home, get dinner cooked, put Mads to bed, homework.....I am pooped! But, no excuses, right?

January, you are now my FAVORITE!!!!
3.gif

You're my friend. You have to say that. :rotfl2:
No I don't! I really mean it!:flower3: You are beeeeeeautiful!

Hi again!

So I've started walking and doing Pilates. I love and hate Mari Winsor, but she sure does cause results in my body, even with her 20 minute DVD workouts.

Unfortunately on the second day I must have stressed my lower abs so much it caused some problems in my front hip upper thigh area and I was limping around, ouchie ouchie ouchie. I even started to get worried about myself, but it's better now.

So I've been alternating the 20 minute "circle" pilates DVD and walking, and it's a good thing.

Go Molly!! Pilates is hard! I tried it for awhile. My chichis and tummy were too big to do most of the moves the right way.:sad2: But that is awesome that you are doing it! You are going to be one lean lady.:thumbsup2

WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! That is so awesome Beth! I knew you could do it!! Now....no looking back, no falling off the wagon. Focus on the next banner (60 pounds!!) and keep going! You can do this!! We all can!

So proud of you!!! :cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::dance3::cheer2::hug:

And hope I can add that banner myself in the next few weeks!!
You WILL get that banner!!

So I couldn't resist temptation and weighed myself again this morning.
I am at 212.8 down from an original starting weight of 263 which means.......yep, I can get that 50 pound banner back!!!!
Oh yes!!
5.gif

Totally awesome!!:cool1:

So...still scared of course. Still wondering if I can actually do this and make it through the 5k in September without walking it (that's my goal)..but at least I started.

I honestly have not had much experience with exercise equipment so I was terrified I would kill myself when I started running on the treadmill..lol. Most of what I have been doing up to this point has been walking (outside) and working out to videos (bigges loser, walk at home, etc). It took a little to get the hang of it but I did it!

My heart rate was way above where it should have been but the small stretches of running weren't bad. I was definitely tired and sweating at the end, and I think I'll be a little sore tomorrow, but I am so glad I made it through!!

Then we took the kids to the strip for a "family day". We've lived here for a year and a half and never go anywhere really so this was the first time we went as a family. Our usual family time (aside from DLR or WDW of course) is pretty much parks and malls. But today we took the kids to Treasure Island, walked around, saw the pirate ships, walked the strip, then went to the Mirage, walked around, and went to the Secret Garden animal and dolphin exhibits. That was fun and the kids loved it. I had never been there. The last time I was at the Mirage they just had a few white tigars in glass rooms when you first walked into the hotel/casino, but this was a small zoo type area. They had a baby leopard that was adorable, and amazing huge white tigers and lions. It was a nice day, and we probably walked a few miles, so more exercise accomplished!! :thumbsup2

Of course, family days are always hard food wise. I did ok but found myself getting frustrated at what everyone else was eating. Just need to get over that already!!

I wanted to hit a buffet or deli for lunch so it would be easy, but Paul wanted Outback so that is where we went. Of course I LOVE outback. I had the grilled chicken and steamed veggies which looked like the best bet. I remember you used to be able to order just grilled shrimp, salmon, or chicken, but this time they only had chicken. Maybe because it was the lunch menu? I think we've always gone for dinner. Anyways, Paul and Jake both get my very favorite thing there...they changed the name but it is the pasta alfredo with shrimp, scallops, and/or chicken. Looked sooooo good!!!

Then later, we decided to take the kids to the ice cream parlor at the Mirage. Paul wanted to look in a store so I sat with them and watched them eat (and drank water..lol). Then later, Paul decides he wants ice cream since he was shopping earlier so he goes to ben and jerry's while I take the kids to the car. He comes back with this humungo ice cream sundae. Arrrggghhh!!

I could have had a little frozen yogurt etc, but honestly wasn't hungry and I'm really trying to pay attention and only eat when I am and not just because something looks or sounds good (which was TOTALLY what this was today). But sometimes it just drives me nuts that my hubby can put away the food he can and barely have a pinch of fat on him.

Sorry for the rambling. Don't know why this bugged me today. I really haven't cared much when I ate different things than others since I've been doing this for months, but today I was noticing (and salivating over) everything.

Hope you have all had a wonderful weekend.

Great work at not giving in to the treats! It sounds like you all had a great day!

I have a really hard time when everyone around me is eating food that I know I shouldn't be eating but really want to. Today was a test for me too at the Festival of Books...DBF and kids were eating anything and everything and I'm eating a salad with balsamic vinegar for dressing! It was hard but right now I am really motivated.

I completed W9D3 today!!! I am not going to say that I have 'graduated' until I can run 3.1 miles (my longest run without walking has been 2.25 miles) but I am happy that I stuck with this for 9 weeks...unbelievable actually! The best part was that today's run was great! I didn't have any issue with breathing and when I finished I really felt like I could have run longer but we were going to the Festival of Books and I knew if I ran longer then I would make us late. I am totally thrilled with today's run and I feel that I can really say that I am a runner!

I have a hard time when people are eating goodies while i am not.:headache: Especially my family. My DH bought Ice Cream Drumsticks and they have caramel in them:eek:. I want one soooo bad. He actually just ate one in front of me a few minutes ago. He's grounded.

Good job at getting your run distance up! :cheer2:

:cool1: Look at you! I've gotta say.... I've NEVER been able to do more than about a 10 minute run TOPS. I used to play soccer and I could run the whole game if I had something to chase after. When I move to Santa Barbara I hope to be in running shape. I have high hopes to really commit to getting more and more in shape next week when the semester is over. Right now I'm just trying to stay sane!

On another note. I am truly motivated to get in shape. I'm a photographer and have always made self-portraits. Well I stopped because I got larger and since I'm almost done with my undergrad I decided to make some more self-portraits last night. They're great but wow, I look much different! I love myself regardless though I just need to be healthy.

So, I walked today. 2 miles. I hated every step. I really wonder if I'll ever enjoy it. :confused3

And tonight I would have done just about anything for a cupcake. A vanilla one, piled high with frosting and sprinkles. OMG, I wanted one so bad. I was in the grocery store and hadn't eaten dinner. Everything looked so good. I saw so many things that literally had my mouth watering as I walked by. A couple times I was so tempted to put it in my cart, thinking "I can eat this tonight and start over again tomorrow."

But in the end, I stuck to my list, got some healthy items and some 100 calorie packs, and no cupcakes or other treats. This is soooooo hard!!!! I don't care what anyone says, a bowl of fruit for dessert is not as good as a cupcake. :rolleyes1
I better see some results on Friday or I will be seriously bummed.

Anyway, I hope you are all doing well this week! Hang in there. :cheer2:

OK...2 miles and you skipped the cupcake?
You earned TWO stickers today, girlfriend. :thumbsup2

I do like having a size 8 again in my wardrobe. Although I'm not happy with the pants. Oh well, I think I just need to get some good pants and get them tailored, instead of hating every single pair in my closet. I just need to get on that show "What Not To Wear" and get a new wardrobe. That's it!

And good job on the gym! :thumbsup2

I love myself regardless though I just need to be healthy.

With an attitude like that, there will be no stopping you!! :woohoo:
Seriously.

Awesome!!! Even when I was in high school and weighed 125 pounds I was never a size 8. :rotfl:

That's probably because you wore two sizes too big for you then! :lmao: 125 at your height... that's a model.;)

Beth, you've done this before and with success. Don't you remember that your taste buds do change? I am not a citrus fan. My grocery store, the one with the good fruit, had some ugly looking, bumpy tangerines featured in the front. Anything that ugly had to be good.

I bought one. It was the sweetest tangerine I've ever tasted. No tang, no bitter aftertaste. They are from Ojai, CA. I went back and bought a bag for me, one for my hairdresser, one for a group of friends I see weekly and one for my trainer. I really look forward to eating these - they are a treat for the tastebuds.

Thanks, Jen. It does sound like you need some nice fitted pants. Oprah often does these shows where you see what women choose to wear on their own and then how much better they look when a stylist puts them in fitted clothes. I know the "elastic waistband/drawstring pants syndrome" coz I was there for years.

I wasn't feeling 100% but I did 30 min on the elliptical. Everyone, keep on keeping on. You're doing great!

Hey gals. Yesterday was a bad day for me. I woke up feeling fat and lethargic, so I talked myself out of running. I tried on one of my largest sized capri pants and they were skin tight. I tried to eat well all day and ate really light at dinner time, but still went to bed feeling bloated (and no, it's not that time of the month). I finally got brave enough to step on the scale this morning just so I could see really how bad it was, and I couldn't believe it, I'm up 9 pounds from where I was during our March trip.

Ok, so I'm going to start keeping track of numbers. I normally refuse to use the scale and only gauge my weight by my clothes. Being 5'10", I have always thought that my goal weight number is still too high for a woman. So I'm at 169.5. :headache: Ouch, it was hard for me to type that number.

I will NOT NOT NOT get over 170 again (been there before, and it's not fun). My goal weight is anywhere between 155-160.

The C25K thing was depressing me. It hurts so much to run, so this morning my dh and I walked briskly for about 45 minutes. I think it was a little over 2 miles. I felt so much better after walking than I did after running, so I figure if I walk 5 days a week instead of running 3, I'll be doing even better. I wish I could be a runner, but I just can't get comfortable in it.

Wow, I can ramble, huh?

Beth, congrats on your 50 pound banner! That has to feel so good. And you are so much better than me, I would have totally bought the cupcake!

Thanks for listening, ladies! Hope you all have a great Tuesday and drink lots of water! A hydrated cell is a happy cell! :upsidedow

Wow, first of all----good for you on the 2 mile walk!!:cool1: That is fantastic! I promise, you will start enjoying it. Hopefully, it doesn't get too hot for that to happen.:wizard:

I know where you are coming from with the cupcakes. I have been dreaming about the cupcakes at the DL bakeries. You know the ones that are so piled high that you can't eat a whole one in one sitting? Yeah, I could!popcorn::

You are doing fabulous! I cannot wait to get my 50 lb banner too!:cool1:

Callie...I totally know where you are coming from right now. When I came back from the Ladies Trip in March I stepped on the scale and wondered how it is a person can gain that much weight in that short amount of time?!

You are doing something about it and that is all that matters. Also, I think you look great!

That's probably because you wore two sizes too big for you then! :lmao: 125 at your height... that's a model.;)

I love tangerines! My favorite are nectarines, though. The white ones.:lovestruc Elastic was my friend. I even wore maternity clothes because they were so comfy and fit my body type-no waist all tummy and chesticles.

That's probably because you wore two sizes too big for you then! :lmao: 125 at your height... that's a model.;)
LOL Nope, back then it was mini skirts, and cropped tops! I barely covered up and was always sent to the principal office's for wearing skirts that were too short.

That might have been model weight once upon a time. Not these days. Did you see that pageant contestant who is 5'11" and weighs around 115??? She's like a walking skeleton.

I like fruit. Tangerines are good. I just don't think I'll ever get past that craving for dessert. And I'm not entirely sure I want to. :confused3
While I certainly don't need a big ole cupcake (even though I wanted one) I like having my 100 calorie packs and pudding cups. I just need to make sure I stick with those items as opposed to the more caloric ones. kwim?

First off, this is for you
I feel your pain. I always gain a lot on vacation. But usually I get back on track right away and lose it all within a week or so. After this trip for some reason, I couldn't get back in the groove. I was eating and eating and in about a month, I had gained back 14 pounds!!! 14!!

When I saw that I decided then and there no more. I didn't work so hard all those month, and months, to gain it all back in no time flat. So now I am at it again, and doing ok. You can do it too. I know you can!

That's GREAT! Do what you can for now. Better to do something, then to push yourself too hard and get burnt out or resent it and quit. That's my feeling anyway.

Beth, congrats on your 50 pound banner! That has to feel so good. And you are so much better than me, I would have totally bought the cupcake!
Thanks!
Well, you know, there's days we all give in and buy the cupcake, and days we don't. We're all just doing the best we can here.

Happy Tuesday ladies!!!! Keep at it!! :cheer2:

You know the ones that are so piled high that you can't eat a whole one in one sitting? Yeah, I could! popcorn::
I could, and have! I did on the ladies trip. Got me a big cupcake, not the medium one, the BIG one and ate the whole thing, even licked the frosting of my fingers, in one sitting. :rolleyes1

Congrats on your banner! It's gone up to a 25 right?? :yay: :woohoo:
You'll have a 50 one in there before you know it. :cool1:

Aunt Flo has impeccably bad timing.
I was at the gym!
I had only burned 200 calories (elliptical & treadmill) and went to the bathroom to change so I could go swimming.

Yeah, that didn't happen :headache:

I just calculated how many calories were in my McDonald's meal and I nearly fainted :scared1::eek::scared:
I'm never eating McD's again!

I HATE YOU AUNT FLO!

rant over.

I hate her for you too!!

BTW, at Mickey D's, you can get their Southwest or Asian chicken salads and they are really good and not bad calorie wise at all. Just make sure you get the grilled chicken on top, not the crispy. :thumbsup2

Jen--size 8? I am in awe!! I sadly live in Target khaki's size 14.:sad1: I hope by July to be wearing the 12's!!!

Beth--woo hoo, you are just melting!!! Nice to see your banner back!!

Callie---I can't run either. If I tried to start, I 'd give up exercising immediately!! Walking is awesome!!!

Donna---man oh man....where do you find the time to work out that much. How fantastic.

Cristabel---seriously, no Mickey D's just step away from the fries. I haven't eaten fries for years, and have managed to feed them so rarely to my DD that she doesn't even like them, far prefers the apples at M.D.s!!!

I am sure I missed some of you...CoMickey...I have forgotten your name and everyone else:woohoo:

MA was a riot. We totally stunk, but had a blast. Today was my first day to get back into the pool, and I did!!! Hurrah. It is so hard to make myself get there, particularly when it was grey, windy and low 60's, brrr. I am already getting my swim groove back. The first day it took me 50 minutes to swim a mile with all of the panting, but today it was 35 minutes!!

So, just keep swimming!!

I guess I need to get a scale, huh?

AmySue

Great job everyone! I think just coming here regardless of how we are doing is important...we all mess up, have bad days, eat more than we should!

I ran 2 miles today. I really had planned to run 2.5 but I just couldn't talk myself into it! I have a sore muscle in my thigh and it only was bothering me when I walked but today it bothered me when I was running too. Oh well...I'm glad that at least I did the 2 miles.

I am addicted to the Southwest Salad with Grilled Chicken right now! They are only 6 points plus the salad dressing points and I like the Paul Newmans Balsamic Vinaigerette and that is only 1 point. The thing I don't like about WW right now is that the activity points that you gain by exercising are not given to you until you've used all of your daily points plus your extra weekly points. So unless I use all of my extra weekly points I won't get to see my activity points swapped for food! :headache: I have 24 activity points just waiting to be used...that's a whole days eating points! Maybe that's why they don't swap them out until they see if you really need them.

Jen - Congratulations on your size 8...that is awesome!! The smallest size I've worn in the past 5 years is a 10.

Good job everyone being on getting active!

I am stressed right now.

When I am stressed I want to eat, and I don't mean a salad.

Just keep swimming....

I felt so much better after walking than I did after running, so I figure if I walk 5 days a week instead of running 3, I'll be doing even better. I wish I could be a runner, but I just can't get comfortable in it.

Congrats on facing the scale. And great job on the walk. If you hate running, do something else! Brisk walking is awesome!

I HATE YOU AUNT FLO!

rant over.

Well good job on the elliptical. Sorry about Aunt Flo. And I'm going to have to agree with AmySue...walk away from McD's...nothing but trouble there. I guess there is salads, but much more that will cause nothing but trouble.

Beth--Sorry you are feeling stressed. Going on a walk (with the dog is best, if you can get one of those ;)) usually makes me feel better. But I'm not one to ask these days, as I don't think I have done a good job at managing my stress lately. I think we need a mini-vacation! Ah...wouldn't that be nice? I just want to escape rather than deal. Is that bad?

As for me, I did a 30 minute run today. Didn't make it to the gym for weights, as I was at the dentist this afternoon getting my teeth cleaned and an exam. Not fun. Not fun at all. But no problems and I'm good for another six months, so can't complain.

Happy Tuesday evening everyone!!

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Let us be of good cheer, remembering that the misfortunes hardest to bear are those that never happen.

Donna---man oh man....where do you find the time to work out that much. How fantastic.

The first day it took me 50 minutes to swim a mile with all of the panting, but today it was 35 minutes!!

I guess I need to get a scale, huh?

Or you can go back to the Stone Ages, when one caveman lifts you and has to guess whether you weigh less than you did last week. :rolleyes1

I can't believe the time I'm devoting to exercise either. It happens that I can right now and I count my blessings. I told my trainer I was worried about getting my body so it demanded this much exercise but he said not to worry, it was so I could lose now and later I can cut back. :)

Great on the swimming. :cheer2:When it's cold, I wear a skinsuit. You just bravin' it in your bathing suit?

Great job everyone! I think just coming here regardless of how we are doing is important...we all mess up, have bad days, eat more than we should!

I ran 2 miles today. I really had planned to run 2.5 but I just couldn't talk myself into it! I have a sore muscle in my thigh and it only was bothering me when I walked but today it bothered me when I was running too. Oh well...I'm glad that at least I did the 2 miles.

I am addicted to the Southwest Salad with Grilled Chicken right now! They are only 6 points plus the salad dressing points

You're right about reporting in. Good for you on the 2 miles!

I take it Mickey D's is McD's? I had my free pieces of El Pollo Loco today! I don't know if you all have those, but until 8PM they are giving away a free leg and thigh.

Wow, I can ramble, huh?

Callie, if you can't ramble here, where can you?

I really think admitting our feelings is a great step.
Walking 5 days (and not injuring yourself) sounds like it's much better for you than running 3 and not feeling great.

Great on the long walk!:yay:

You are doing fabulous! I cannot wait to get my 50 lb banner too!:cool1:

I love tangerines! My favorite are nectarines, though. The white ones.:lovestruc \.

Me too - love those. And the white peaches. Can't wait till they come in. You'll get the big banner, I know it!

I just need to make sure I stick with those items as opposed to the more caloric ones. kwim?:

I TOTALLY understand what you're saying. You're talking to the queen of the 100 calorie packs and Skinny Cow truffle ice cream bars, etc. :cool1: I think these things are great for portion control and satisfying a craving. I have also used diet orange sodas as a treat. Whatever works!

I just got myself to a point where I wasn't losing anymore. So I had to make some adjustments. I was leaning too heavily on the treats for me to lose.

Oy, I didn't see that 115 lb contestant....

That is so funny about you in miniskirts getting called into the principals!:rotfl: Were you shortening your skirts or did they just come that short? Because you're tall, the minis must have been shorter on you.

I had only burned 200 calories (elliptical & treadmill)

I just calculated how many calories were in my McDonald's meal and I nearly fainted :scared1::eek::scared:

.

Great that you noticed the calorie count!!! :thumbsup2
EAT THIS NOT THAT, great little paperback book with brand names.

And brava for working out at the gym. It's not so much about the number of calories you burn off. It's about resetting your metabolism and building muscle and getting strong. And you did that!:yay:

I am stressed right now.

When I am stressed I want to eat, and I don't mean a salad.

Beth - quick, do you like cocoa? You can make a cup of cocoa with nf milk, pure cocoa and whatever fake sweetener you like. The protein in the milk will help and the milk is a destresser.....

I just want to escape rather than deal. Is that bad?

As for me, I did a 30 minute run today.

No, it's human. Just don't go to Mexico right now.
Great on the run!!!!:cheer2:

Spent an hour of weights and 30 min of elliptical. I am exhausted but happy.

What a great group this is. :goodvibes
