Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Good morning ladies. I got forced out at work last night which means I went to work thinking I was working 8 hours and I ended up having to work 16. Anyway, I wanted to get on and let you all know that I lost 2 lbs this week. I think it would have been more but the last 2 days I have not eaten enough food due to my work schedule. I will remedy that this weekend as I have family coming up and I know we will eat out at least once. I will try not to go overboard, but no matter how you slice it, it is going to be a higher calorie meal than something I would make at home...at least with the types of things I order!
Sarah

Sarah-- Great job on the weight loss! 2 lbs is excellent!

Sorry about the long work day. Well at least that's more Disney dollars for you!

Good luck with the restaurant choices. Last weekend when I went to restaurants, I decided just to get soup and salads (with light dressing and grilled chicken). Soup was great when it was a vegetable soup, but not so good when it was clam chowder and the bowl was made of sourdough bread!

All-
My week went well. Looks like I lost 4 to 6 sticks of butter (depending on how I stand on the scale). I'll go ahead and say 4 sticks of butter, which will put the bar lower for getting another 4 sticks next week. (and to translate - I'm talking 1 to 1.5 lbs -- but I like the visualization of sticks of butter melting away!)

And for exercise:
Just shy of a SIX mile run on Saturday.
Another six miles during the week.
One pilates class.
Two weight sessions.
One swim session.

So now for the...

Hope the scales are kind to all this week! And if there not, well just keep going. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is way better than the alternative.

Good morning ladies!! Where is everyone????? It's weigh in day!!! :yay:

Sarah, congrats on those 2 lbs!! Wonderful job. :cheer2:
I don't know how you do a 16 hour day especially when you thought it was going to be an 8 hour day! Who's watching the baby? I can't remember if you said what this job is.... Seems like a lot of overtime though!!

Well, I didn't do that good this week. I went from 233.4 down to 232.8 so that's a loss of -0.6 lbs. Oh well. Better then gaining I guess!! :)
And now I can officially put the 30 lb banner in my sig!! :cheer2:

Down is down! That's more than a stick of butter. Congrats!

Food morning, ladies. This was my first official weigh-in, since it took me a while to really commit. But the good ews is, I lost 4 poiunds!!!!!! I ate a lot of salads this week, and I'm trying to drink at least 3 liters of water every day. Now the bad news is that when I weighed myself last Friday, I was the heaviest I've ever been, so I really, really need to lose the pounds!

4 lbs is awesome!!! Wow, what a great start.
I know how hard it is to step on that scale and see that you are higher then you've been before. Do I ever! :sad2: BUT all the more reason to stick with it and do this. :thumbsup2 Good for you!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks Beth. And congrats on the 30 lb mark!!!!!!!! That is fantastic!

I wantede to share a couple of things I've been eating recently that have been really tastey and healthful.

Breakfast:Cottage Cheese with fresh blueberries and granola followed with a skinny cinnamon doce late from Starbucks
Dinner: Spinace Salad with red onion, feta, candied almonds and either grilled salmon or grilled shrimp. I made my own salad dressing, consisting of lime zest, lots of lime juice, dry mustard, onion powder, honey and a bit of canola oil. It's pretty lite and very yummy!

When I think of more, I'll add them.

Great job BillyFan!

Just went out and got myself a skinny cinnamin dolce latte. Yum!

Wow, I'm so proud of you all! You're all doing terrific and staying focused.:thumbsup2

I didn't lose a gosh darn thing this week. I'm approaching this all wrong. So, I'm starting over as of today with an all new, healthier plan for weight loss and getting in SHAPE. :cheer2:

I will NOT starve myself.

I will NOT feel guilty about eating.

I WILL eat healthy.

I WILL exercise and move my body everyday.

I WILL drink more water.

I did have a piece of whole wheat toast with a little raspberry jam on it for breakfast today. I'm not sure how healthy that is, or if it's loaded with calories, but at least I ate something for breakfast and didn't just skip it.

I'm learning.:thumbsup2

Congratulations on your new approach! :thumbsup2 In the long run, who cares if it takes you two more weeks to get to your goal weight. Important thing is to develop a healthy lifestyle that you can maintain that makes you feel better about yourself and life, rather than worse.

Sometimes I think it helps to focus on what you need more of, rather than what you need less of:

-More water
-More fiber (try getting 35 grams a day -- now that's a challenge that will change the way you eat entirely)
-More fruits and veggies (though you seem to do really well here)
-More exercise (you're the only one who's officially signed on to this Kick the Couch challenge with me - so I'm counting on you for the 5k ;) )
-More healthy and tasty meals for not just you, but the family (if/when you're cooking and shopping)
-More feeling good about good choices you're making and not dwelling on any mistakes that happen along the way
-More visualization of the fit person you are inside that is being revealed as the pounds melt away

It just helps me to think about what I need/want to do, rather than what I shouldn't do or can't do. This isn't about depriving or punishing ourselves, but about finding a healthier way to live and eat that we can maintain for a lifetime.

That's good Capri!! Remember this isn't a diet that will reach an end at some point. This is a new way of living. Every day, from here on out.

When you think of it that way it doesn't seem as strict or as pressured. Not for me anyway. And you can find ways to still eat the things you enjoy and still lose weight.

If wheat toast with jam is a good breakfast for you, then stick with that. Just make sure to get a low cal bread. Sara Lee makes one with only 45 calories a slice. And make sure your jam is low sugar. Read the labels in the store and see which is the best as far as calories, fat, etc. Then you can still have your toast when you want it.

That's what I'm doing. It's a more permanent way of weight loss for me. Rather then deny myself the things I like until I'm done with some "diet", I'm finding ways to eat the things I like NOW but in a healthier way.
Like with the taco salad type thing I make. It's really good but with so much less fat and calories then a regular taco salad.

Anyway, you have good goals and I know you can do it!!!

Jen and Beth, wow, what great advice!:worship:

Okay, my brain is s l o w l y adjusting to this new way of thinking about dieting. It's been so ingrained in me to starve while dieting that it's incredibly HARD and CHALLENGING to break that cycle.

So like you both said, I should approach this as "living healthy" instead of "dieting". I LOVE that! I almost feel a sense of relief because it takes away the guilt about eating.

I'm on the right track today. I not only had a little something for breakfast, but I had a sandwich for lunch (chicken on whole wheat with mustard).:thumbsup2 (It's not diet whole wheat bread though. Each slice is 70 calories. I just got my family off of cracked wheat bread and on whole wheat bread a few weeks ago, but they seemed to adjust to it without any problems. I'm trying to get them to make some healthy changes along with me.):)

Baked Turkey and Jack Cheese Chimichangas

Ingredients:
Cooking Spray
1/2 lb uncooked ground turkey breast
16 oz FF canned refried beans
8 oz salsa
4 1/2 oz canned green chili peppers - mild, diced, drained
1 t. chili powder
1 cup shredded rf monterrey jack cheese
8 large burrito size wheat flour tortillas

garnish:
1 cup salsa
1/2 cup ff sour cream

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a large skillet with cooking spray. Coat a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add turkey to skilet and cook over medium high heat until lightly browned about 5 min. Drain any excess liquid from pan and then add beans, 8 oz salsa, chili peppers and chili powder. Cook until heated through about 3 minutes. Stir in cheese. Meanwhile wrap tortillas in foil and warm in oven for 10 minutes. Assemble chimichangas by spooning about 1/2 cup of turkey mixture onto each tortilla. Fold in sides and roll up. Place chimichangas in prepared baking dish and bake uncovered 20 minutes. Serve topped with 2 T. salsa and 1 T sour cream.

These are easy and sooooooo good! 1-2 of them really satisfy me for a meal depending on how hungry I am...they are huge and really low calorie.

Enjoy,
Sarah

So I went and worked out again today. Another 5 minutes of warm up/cool down and 20 minutes of a fast walk/jog combination. I think I did about 7 minutes of jogging and I am going to work on slowly increasing that amount as I get a little stronger and more limber. I can imagine ever running 6 miles but you just never know what life will bring you. Way to go everyone. I haven't heard any gains posted yet, so that is a good sign...unless someone got a gain and is avoiding us so they don't have to post. If this sounds like you, get back on here! Just because you had one bad week is no reason to throw it all away. If you keep plugging away you will do fine!

Sarah

Beth - according to a meeting I was in today I work for you! The u.s. public. What slave drivers you are!

Hello Ladies!!

I just got caught up all on your posts. Congrats to everyone who had losses!

I'm sorry I haven't been keeping up with this thread, but I'll try a little harder.

Unfortunately since I was last here I had gained some weight back, so I temporarily got rid of my ((30 lbs lost)) banner. :(

But I'm happy to report that I finally lost that weight plus some and now I'm able to post my ((35 lbs lost)) banner up. I'm now at 214.8.

So i got another 15.8 lbs I want to loose before I go on my trip in September. Hope it can be done. :confused3

Good luck with all your weightloss endeavors this weekend.

Thanks for the holiday Beth! I will try to take at least one day of it! I have today off and family is coming into town and then I go back on sunday for another double (16 hour day). My dh lost 2 lbs this week too, so I am happy that some of his weight is starting to come off as well. He has a hard time making good decisions at work.

Well, I need to go get my shower and make myself presentable and then have some breakfast. It is going to be a busy day! DH did go grocery shopping last night so at least we have some healthy food in the house...now I just have to manage portion control and I am set.

Sarah

Thanks sweetie. :)

I have a feeling I might have to take it down again tomorrow. I'm dying for some subway or quiznos right now. All those carbs sure won't look good on me. :(

Capri: Good luck with your new approach! I think you will be surprised how a different perspective on weight loss will help the pounds melt away. I see great health and fitness in your future... :wizard:

sabushka: Those 16 hour days would do me in. Can't believe you're doing so well adjusting back to work, and keeping on track with your healthy food choices. Keep up the walking/jogging. If you increase slowly and consistently, I think you will amaze yourself on what you are capable of doing.

reyasmommy: Welcome back! And congrats on the 35 lb. banner! :cheer2:

Beth: Congrats on the 30 lb banner! :cheer2: That's six bags of potatoes you no longer have to lug around with you!

Well, I did my long run this morning. I was scheduled to go for an hour and made it about 4 miles. My pace is pretty slow, but so be it. I'm moving and that's all I need to do, as I have the time. My first ever official 10k run is in just two weeks - Aug 24. Just a few miles away at Lake Merritt in Oakland. I've been training for many months now for this and think I'll be ready. :thumbsup2

So, now for the...
