Disneyland ½ Marathon Weekend~2012 Check-in!

My younger son is signed up for the 5k with my wife but he went and broke his ankle. He should have the cast off just before the race but there's no way he can run. I know the rules don't allow him to get a medal unless he runs the race. Thinking outside the box...and a little crazy, but what if he started walking and waited for the race group to pull him off the course due to the 16 min/mile pace rule (or is that just for the half marathon). Would he still be eligible for the medal if he's pulled from the race?

If he can walk at a good pace, he could finish the 5k and get the medal. Due to back/neck issues, my 59yo DW cannot run, but she power walks a 5k at 15 minutes per mile.

I did my longest run ever on the weekend....11 miles. It felt good knowing that I'll be able be able to do 13 miles.

Congratulations on your new record!! No doubt that if you get through 10-11 now, the last 2-3 are easy on race day just because of all the positive energy and excitement. It's a good feeling to know you are going to make it.

There is a list of corrals by bib number either back in this thread or the one on the Wish board, can't remember which. My bib number puts me in corral E.

ETA:

Found it - Page 33 of the Official Disneyland 1/2 marathon thread on the Wish board.

Okay, I just checked back in the thread and I must not have gotten the email. Usually they have the waiver information on the web site, but not now. Cool. I got an all-time low number this year (45). Hopefully that is a sign of good things to come.

What about corral E are you nervous about (too high? too low?)

Here ya go...

Thanks, Sarah! I didn't realize they had the waivers available, I must be living in a bubble.

Pulled a muscle in my back during a training run this past Friday, which put me behind sechedule, but I'll be up adnd running tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Last week was my tough it out week, but I managed to get in the training. It does help to keep me motivated as the race seems to be just around the corner.

I don't think they officially announced it. I think someone one here just found the link. Lol.

I'm not sure. I never get the emails.

I told my self I was going to run tonight but I've been sitting with my cousin in the Urgent Care for the last 2 1/2 hours. :-(

Can someone explain the waiver please? Is your bib mailed to your residence? By signing the waiver are you therefore acknowledging that you will pick up your bib rather than having it mailed? Thank you!!

You still have to pick up your bib at the Expo and I think you can also print out your waiver there too. But printing it out at home just saves a little time.

You have to pick your bib up at the expo. There is no way around it. They will not mail it to you.
You can print the waiver at home or print it at the expo.

Too far back. Only a 10 min cushion. I was farther ahead at the wdw half this year in corral D & there were many more corrals behind me.

Do you have any race results that help support a faster time? I know they can make corral changes at the expo if you show proof of a faster time. Even a 10k may be enough--but not sure about that one.

It can be a bummer if you end up behind too may people, but it also can help you start out at a more reasonable pace, and then open it up when you hit the road at mile 4. I'm going to try and take it easy this year for the first few miles as I have a bad habit of starting out way too fast in races.
