I have Properties of Motion reserved for Nov. 12th.

Could you tell me a little about what to expect?
I'm worried since I have my 12 & my 8 yo in there. Do you think I should move the 8yo to the younger group?

Do you already have a group put together?

Do you already have a group put together?

I am putting two together now.
I have Properties of Motion (3rd-9th) &
How Things Move (K-2nd)
reserved for Nov. 12th.
I have a link in my signature.
Since my DS will be turning 8 on that day, I'm not sure which to put him in.

I have a kindergartener (in the fall...he will be 6 so older than most) who would LOVE to do the YES program! We will be there from Jan 8-17 most likely! Anyone know if there is any possibility I could get my son enrolled?? I am totally new to this YES program and would love any links or info you can share! Thanks!!!

I am registering for a class on October 2. Will the tickets still be valid on Octo 9th? I know they are good 7 days before and 7 days after but is that a total of 15 days or 14?

From what they told me it's dated 7 days before class and the end date that gets assigned will be 7 days AFTER the date that you tell them you expect to be your departure date.

hth :goodvibes

We're planning for January as well :thumbsup2

I'm hoping for January too! Is there a class already scheduled for the 25th? I saw the earlier post about classes at AK that week, but it didn't look like it was officially scheduled yet. We'll be there Jan 22-Feb 1st and I'm really hoping that at least my 7 yo can participate and we can get discounted tickets!

Looks like January could be a HUGE DISMEET!!!

I wish we could form a group so we might could make a class together!! I will be there from Jan 7-19 if anyone is interested! :)

We could look at all of our dates and see if January is possible. I will be there January 18-25. I have a 3rd and 1st grader. We MIGHT be going with another family that has a 6th, 2nd, and kinder. I would have a rising kinder but I don't know if that counts.

We're signed up (dd10 and I---other kids are too old) for the Wild By Nature program at AK on August 10. Anyone else? I sure hope the minimum is met as dd is so excited to spend the time at her favorite park :)

How funny! I was going to sign dd(6) and ds(12) up for this class on this date, but ds wanted to go to another class the day before! This would have been the only class that would have accomodated both children. DD and I are going to have girl time while DH and DS go to Epcot for class.

BTW-We are almost neighbors! We are on the eastern shore of MD!

We will be there January 20-29 with a 4th grader and 1st grader, if anyone is forming a group I would love to join in ;)

HEY! Looks like there are several of us going at that time. The web still lists the 24-25 as AK Wild on Nature days, I don't have any other info than that. I can do either of those days, we leave on the 25th in the evening. Your 2 makes 6, so even without open enrollment we only need 4 more (is that right?) We have done that one already but it is the only one that it lists so far. I would be up for trying something new or doing this.

Can anyone tell me the difference with open enrollment verses scheduled groups? Does everyone get discounted tickets with the scheduled groups like open enrollment? We did open enrollment last year and our entire party got discounted tickets, not just the class attendees?

Could someone add a link to where it shows AK having open enrollment for Jan24-25? I can't find it anywhere. We want to do the program also and have three ages 6-9. We are looking at going the last week of Jan. thru the first week of Feb.

From what I have read on this thread, during a scheduled YES program (NOT open enrollment) you pay the discounted price for the student, and you can get one additional discounted ticket per student. There is a requirement that there be 2 adult chaperones per class.

During open enrollment everyone in your party gets the discounted tickets. Each student must be accompanied by an adult.

If they don't do open enrollment in January, I would love to join others in a scheduled class Jan. 23-Jan.30. I have a 2nd grader and a 4 yo. Not sure if the 4 yo could attend a class offered to kindergarteners. I've heard that the age is kind of flexible. Since we would be there with him, it shouldn't be a problem.

HEY!! If they are flexible on ages then I believe we are set for a full class. My friends that are **Probably** going with us have a 4 yr. old and so do I. So that would be 6 just in our party. What a great thread! Open enrollment would be great, let's see what happens!

Unfortunately ages are not flexible. The Youth Education Series programs are accredited by different agencies, and in order to keep those accredations, certain standards have to be upheld, including age integrity. BUT, no one is going to question a student who looks close to the appropriate age.

Here's a breakdown of the two programs:

Open Enrollment:
- every member of the party can purchase a ticket at the discounted rate, provided one student is taking a program
- each student attendee must have a chaperone
- there is no minimum or maximum for your group, BUT programs can and do fill up
- limited program selection

Regularly Scheduled Youth Education Series Programs
- a maximum of one adult ticket may be purchased for each student attending the program
- a maximum of one chaperone per five students may attend the program
- minimum of 10 students of a similar age range per program. For example if you have 10 students, but five are 3rd grade and five are 12th grade, you could not take a program since they are not in a similar age range.
- groups (non-florida groups) receive 2 comp tickets per group (for the lead chaperones)
- can pick any age appropriate program on any day of the year (certain black-out dates apply for some programs during holiday periods)

Does that help clear up the difference a bit?

Yes this helps A LOT!!! I have one question based on the above: Groups receive 2 comp tickets per group. What kind of tickets, to the class?

Sure, group leaders receive 2 complimentary tickets based on what the rest of the group ordered. Whichever ticket was ordered the most is what is given to the group leaders free of charge. Here's a scenario. If you order the following:

Four 3-day Park Hoppers
Seven 6-day Premium Tickets
Two 3-day Base Tickets
Three 4-day Park Hoppers

The group leaders would receive 2 6-day Premium Tickets.

Ok...I have a question! If we do open enrollement in january and get the tixs through YES and add a room ressie (someone on here said they give you that option when you call to schedule your YES class), can you get the dining plan? Also, can you take advantage of any of the discounts such as Room only or the Buy 4/3? Would that be considered "stacking" discounts?? Anyone had experience with this??

I know we will want the dining plan and any type of room discount we can find, so I am wondering it will be "too good to be true" to get the cheaper tixs through YES too!

Help!

Leigh

So is the responsibility of the group leader to simply organize, purchase, and distribute the tickets? Communicate the info about where and what time to meet?
