If you are attending the June/July Open Enrollment everyone gets the discount price on their ticket packages. BUT if you are planning a Y.E.S. Group any other time of the year outside of Open Enrollment you are only allowed 1 discount package to 1 participating child. Just wanted to let everyone know that because the requirments are different when it comes to Open Enrollment. :thumbsup2

:) Thanks for posting. I hope they will respond back to me regarding my inquiries!

I feel so lucky and blessed to have found this thread!!! Thank you so much OP!:goodvibes The Disboards truly ROCK! :thumbsup2

Every year I have needed to "WOW" dh with some deal, and this year I think that this program will be the reason we can start our trip planning!!!! :yay:

We are thinking of going in mid-July sometime. Has anyone bought their tickets for the June/July Open Enrollment yet?

no, but am seriously considering going back with this deal. The kids and I just went in January with the open enrollment program, they LOVED it!

Do you know which program(s) you may do? I am open for suggestions for my (will be) 10 YO and 8 YO.

Also, do you know if I sign up my dd5 for a program and I go as one of the adults, can my ds2 tag along with me, just to watch?

So about what time of year do they announce Homeschool Days/Open Enrollment? I went this January with Open Enrollment and LOVED it! I definitely want to go next January as well on either program. I see that Homeschool Days are usually January and September. I would enroll in either program.

Thanks Gerber, I know you're out there!

:rotfl2:I am here- with 30 inches of snow!!!:rotfl2:I love the faith in me but I am new to the Y.E.S. programs too. :rotfl2:This was my first time and we LOVE Disney's Y.E.S. I am already working on my husband for next January. I figure I have time because from my "research" it seems they give fliers with dates of next event to those who attend the current event. Then 2-3 weeks later they post that information on the website. However, this time there is the extra open enrollment dates in June/July...

So if those that attend June/July open enrollment pass on the dates and those that attend September pass on the info on January dates, etc. We will all be a couple weeks ahead of the general public. Hopefully, for those going in September, they don't wait until after June/July to release the September dates.

I am not sure if it is the case with Y.E.S. programs but many times discounted educational opportunites are funded through grants that require certain documentation of attendance, etc. So the more people that sign up and ATTEND classes, the greater chance more opportunities will be offered.

SPREAD THE WORD!

I sent emails to the manager of the Y.E.S. and the operations manager, letting them know how much we appreciated the opportunity/experience of being participating. We were very impressed with Engineering Behind the Magic. And Sarah was a wonderful help to many. I hope they continue to offer these programs because it allowed trips for many that would otherwise be impossible.

Absolutely Gerber! This saved us about $600! We would have been in big trouble because we got "snowed in". There was a weather system that moved across N.C. the day we were to come back, and Amtrak cancelled the trains. We used about $600 those 2 1/2 days in food, lodging, etc.

We did the Animal Kingdom program and I know most of the response on that has been negative, but we had a good time. Granted, I think older kids would've been bored out of their minds, but we had fun. Plus it was a great Mommy/DD7 morning.!!

we signed up with a kiddo in January, and the kiddo got sick the night before:scared: it was not pretty.....but I'm hoping that we get the chance to do it again.......

lol, i am so sorry. we had a problem like that once when we were staying at the fort wilderness cabins. sweet story is that the mouse keeper brought my sons two beanies, and a signed picture of Mickey!:)We had written an apology and an explanation as to why the tub was filled with towels.

Wow! Hope it was a fun surprise! We got home the day before snow started here (last weekend) and then got another 30 inches yesterday.

Sorry to here about sickness. My daughter tends to get sick when we are away for awhile due to different eating habits. So this time I started giving her a probiotic a couple weeks before and while we were there. YAY! No :crazy2:sickness this time!

My daughter got sick also, last night of our stay, and into the morning. We were supposed to go to the Animal Kingdom class on Jan 18th, but it just was not in the cards. By about noon, she was feeling better and we stopped there so she could get some autographs, but no Expedition Everest for her!

We have friends going end of June early July and would love to pass on the info to them. Their 2 children would really love it.

We are going back end of August to Sept 4 and would it if they offered the program again then. Since on this last trip, the only day available while we were there, was our last day before catching a flight home, so we couldn't even go to a different class.

Anyway, I have to say, it was such a great offer, and we only wish we were able to take full advantage of it.

Thanks again to the orignal poster.

I have e-mailed the Y.E.S. sales dept asking if on-line enrollment will be available once the website is updated to reflect the June/July open enrollment.

I'll keep you posted!

I haven't read the entire thread, so if this has been talked about before I apologize, but would it be possible for a few families on the board that may be going to Disney at the same time to form a home school association and take advantage of this program? We have a large home school community that we are part of, the difficulty is getting enough families to go to Disney at the same time.

For instance, we are hoping/planning on going to Disney this September. We have 4 home schooled kids, and four adults, so it would be perfect for us but we need a few other families that are also going at the same time to form a large enough group. If they do offer home school days in September we're all set, but if they don't, anyone interested? any reason why this can't or shouldn't be done? we aren't looking to break the rules at all, but he educational opportunity plus the discount is irresistible.

Disney Y.E.S. are open year-round to any group of ten or more so you come plan a group with other any time. However, during open enrollment or Homeschool days- just sign your four children and four adults up and have a good time. These are days open to groups smaller that ten.

Small world neighbor! I recently bought our autograph books from you (which the kids LOVED) and our Elf on a Shelf hehe! I'm sorry to hear your DD got sick, that stinks!

Thought you might want to see my thread I started a month ago with the same question. I was able to form a group and all with fellow Disboarders for a March trip! And this was actually suggested by the Y.E.S. program staff because I was in the same situation of not having enough children and not able to attend an open enrollment or homeschool days. If you read through the entire thread you will get so much information about forming your own group if it comes to that. Let me know if you have any questions. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2359690

A few quick question about groups.

Can you join a group if you're not interested in the youth classes?

I'm planning an adult trip the week after Labor Day so we just want the discounted tickets, not the classes.

If we are able to join a group, and must purchase a youth class, can we give the class away?

The purpose of the program is education, rather that saving money. :confused3 People doing that will ruin for those who want to use the program as it is meant to be used.

I understand the purpose of the program.

I don't need the class, but if the rules state that the only way to get discounted tickets is to sign up for a class, then I'm willing to do that.

I want to know if I can pass the class to someone else.
