Disney Y.E.S. Program

We attended the Everyday Chemistry class last week at Epcot. My daughter is 12 and was very excited about the class. When we went to check in they asked if my son (age 8) was in the class or the other class also going on that day for ages 6-11. I explained that my son was in science class the following day. Our instructor asked if my son would like to join the Chemisty class that day so we would not have to come back the next day. I was a little worried at first since he was younger then others in the class, but we were really worn out after a few early days in the park and sleeping in the next day sounded great so I said we'd try it, figuring if it was not working I'd just pull him out and he could go to the one the next day. He was fine in the class and both kids enjoyed it.

They started doing some experiments. Next they rode on Ellen's Energy ride and talked about it after. Then more instruction. Ride on Mission Space. After the ride they discussed science behind it. Class finished early, about 11:20. Our instructor was Danielle and she was great! So energetic and good with the kids. She asked them lots of questions and really engaged them in the topic. Even my younger one was answering questions.

uhhggg. I put off buying tickets because my son needs surgery at end of July, and I wasn't sure we would be going this year. Every day, I checked to make sure our class was still open. So we finally realize what dates we can go to work around his surgery. Class was still open. Then I am still spooked that the tickets are non refundable and I insist on having our place we are staying booked before I buy tickets. SO I I take care of that and guess what? CLass is full!!!! I knew I was playiing with fire waiting so long, but I really needed to make sure we were going before I did anything.

So - what do you think the odds are of a class opening up between Jully 22 and July 27? I'm hoping someone will want to move thier days to one of the newly opened classes and my class will reopen. Anyone had any luck with this?

There is a class open on Aug 1 - just a few days after we will leave. It is so frustratiing.

Sorry to hear that! I did the same thing but fortunately it worked out. It just made sense to ensure you had lodging before committing yourself to non-refundable park tickets. Is there any way you could extend your stay to include the class?

No. We need to be home by July 30 for my sons knee surgery.

I got about 30 pages into this thread and am still confused. Any help would be much appreciated.

My boys are both planning to attend the same YES course and my husband and I would both like to join them. Do we need to register them separately, or can we register at once, without incurring a $28 fee (is this fee only for the second course the SAME child registers for?)

Secondly, I've seen someone mention the possibility of extending tickets to 10 days if you call in. Has anyone had any luck doing this? We are planning a 14 day trip, purchasing 8-day deluxe tickets (park hopper/water park and more)and would have filled the extra days with small park options. But, if we could extend another two days, that would be ideal.

Finally, we are renting DVC points from a friend, and hopefully staying at Boardwalk. I've seen some posts about qualifying for free dining by purchasing two-day tickets. Are they referring to 2-day park tickets, or a two-day Magic Your Way stay with HOTEL and tickets? If it is park tickets, I'd gladly spend the $700 odd dollars for an extra two days of tickets we would use in this visit to get the free dining , but it would not be worth buying two more nights at the Boardwalk AND park tickets to do so. Not sure... seems to good to be true.

Not trying to skirt the system, here, just not sure whether this is possible and how it works? We are travelling at the end of September.

You can register them both at the same time. Since there is a one parent per student rule, I believe you can both attend (one with each child). The cost of the tickets includes ONE class, an additional class would be $28.

You cannot get free dining unless you purchase a resort/ticket package directly through Disney. So since you are renting points you are not eligible for the free dining package regardless of buying 2 days tickets or not.

You are however eligible to purchase the dining plan when renting DVC. Contact the person you rented from and they can add it to your reservation.

The maximum days for Y.E.S. tickets is 8, no way to extend them.

Actually, in this case if both parents want to attend you would have to register the children separately. (But you risk the class reaching capacity between the two transactions.)

If you have two or more children attending the same class, they only allow one parent chaperone them.

If the two children are taking different classes, one parent can go with each.

No problem. Just as a side not, if you buy the premium passes, it also includes 8 visits to DisneyQuest & 8 visits to the water parks. We generally gp for 10-12 days and never buy more than an 8 day ticket anyway since we dont plan on being in the parks more than 8 days. We do TL at least 2 days and DQ at least 2-3. We find that 8 days with the hopper/WP/DQ option is more than enough

Actually, only one parent for each group registered. If you both want to attend, you'd need to register them separately.

Just wanted to clarify that you get 8 visits to DQ and the water parks, not 8 for DQ AND 8 for the waterparks. You basically get 8 entrances if you have the 8 day premium, so if you do DQ and BB on the same day, you use up 2 of those entrances.


I don't think you can get free dining with DVC, but you could book a value room with 2 day tickets and save the tickets for a later trip.

There isn't really a classroom, and the chaperones go wherever the class goes.

I'm sure if you really didn't want to ride something, you would be able to wait outside. When we did the Synergy in Science class we rode Figment, Spaceship Earth, and saw HISTA (which is now Captain EO, I think). I'm sure the rids might vary from time to time though.
