Disney Y.E.S. Program

When my DD attended the Synergy in Science class a while back, we saw Honey I Shrunk the Audience. I think the Michael Jackson 3D movie is there now, so I suppose that's what the class will see for as long as it's there.

We were bored with the class, but I think it must have been our particular class, because I have read two or three other reviews of the same class (different dates) and they enjoyed it.

We started off in Innoventions, where the kids were given some tinkertoys to build a model of something (but I can't remember what, sorry, it was over two years ago). We rode Spaceship Earth (via the regular line, no special entrance or anything). We stopped outside afterwards and talked about snergy, the definition of the word and how it applies to park attractions. We saw HISTA. Before going in the kids were instructed to watch through the regular 3D glasses, and then through some "special" glasses that were handed out to the class ahead of time. Afterwards, we stopped outside, to the right side of the Imagination pavilion (where the bathrooms are located) and talked about how the 3D images work, why the show appeared in 3D through one set of glasses, and didn't appear in 3D through the other set of glasses. Then we went into the building where the Character Connection is, but we were in the back part, near the restrooms. The instructor laid some really big puzzle pieces out on the floor and they did a few different things with them. My DD really enjoyed that part of the class. Then it was over. If I recall correctly, our class ended about 20 minutes ahead of schedule.

Thanks so much for the info. It definitely wouldnt be my first choice for him but its the only one in his age. We are going to give it a try. It says they do figment; I believe capt Eo is closed(not an attraction I ever sought out to do.)

Does anyone know if you can be put on a waitlist for a class? I was trying to get my son in for the Sept. 25th Wild by Nature class, but it says it's CLOSED. What are the chances of getting in....slim to none? Also, there are no afternoon classes, only morning....is this correct?

Thanks!

Keep checking the schedule - daily! The classes the week were were going were full when I learend about the YES program. I checked every day to see if more classes were added or the ones we wanted had an opening. One day both the classes we needed said open. I signed my kids up. I noticed they stayed open a few more days and are now closed again.

Good luck!

Why do you think EO is closed? I haven't heard anything about this attraction closing recently.

I just finished signing DD up for a class but now I'm confused by the times listed on the confirmation ... She took a class last year at Epcot which lasted approx 3 hours. According to the following this class is just one hour???

This is what I copied off my confirmation email ....

I heard something about what's going in EO, but now that you've asked, I've forgotten!! LOL That's me! I will see what I can find out... now I'm curious again.

We did Synergy in Science last June. We did the exact same things as the pp mentioned except we also did Figment, Captain EO, and put together some strings to show how the camera photographs things to make 3D work on a film.

It's not exciting but not boring...we are doing it again this year (it was the only class available during our trip).

We are doing the class in June and it lists EO as part of the class. I'm confused.
Not sure exactly what the program is exactly. Dont go by what I read, I am sure you saw it. On the main page of what the class has it wasnt there but I see it on program details if I look further.
This is what I was going off of- from the locations tab-

Plan on doing this on our trip and I have a question. I know that you use up a ticket going to the classes but the morning Synergy class says it meets "Outside Epcot Main Entrance Near the flagpole".

Is class outside the park (and not needing a park ticket) or we meet outside and go into Epcot (and we would need a ticket)?

Thanks.

We did a class last year at Epcot that met outside the main entrance near the flagpole and yes .. you did need to have a valid park ticket for that day. Everybody met at the flagpole and then went thru the turnstiles together but everybody had to have a ticket.

Thanks for the answer...even if you are a Jayhawker! :rotfl:

So if we are thinking of going in January or February of 2013, we should look for tickets in July and August?

Right now we are trip planning and are looking at December 2012 or Jan/Feb 2013 or May 2013. The YES program seems to only be available in Jan/Feb.... and it sounds like a great and unique opportunity. I see the programs for the younger kids seem to fill up faster.

Thanks for any advice!

Also: Can you get park tickets longer than 5 days? I have seen mentions of ticket for longer stays but on the site it looks like it maxxes out at 5 days?

Can't answer the when to look. I looked everyday until the summer ones became available. :rotfl2: That bookmark is a nice feature on the browser.

We have 8 day tickets. I think that is the most. But if I am wrong, someone will come along and tell us and I'll fix my post.

Just keep watching this thread and you will know when the dates are released:goodvibes

Captain EO replaced Honey I Shrunk The Audience at the Imagination Pavilion in 2010. They just haven't updated some of the documentation.

I'm a newbie to the YES program. I remember last yr that there were threads with group YES programs and ppl could sign up to fill spots. Is anyone here on disboards still doing this? I ask, because my boys are 7 and 9, and the YES classes for individual enrollment fill up so quickly. I'm trying to plan for a trip, but really want to utilize the YES program and tix, so need to make sure we can secure spots for my boys. If only the older one can go, so be it, but basically just wondering if we are still allowed to do group YES classes and if there are open slots, do ppl post here?

It sounds like they've replaced Spaceship Earth with Figment since we did the class. :thumbsup2
