Disney Y.E.S. Program

I'm a newbie to the YES program. I remember last yr that there were threads with group YES programs and ppl could sign up to fill spots. Is anyone here on disboards still doing this? I ask, because my boys are 7 and 9, and the YES classes for individual enrollment fill up so quickly. I'm trying to plan for a trip, but really want to utilize the YES program and tix, so need to make sure we can secure spots for my boys. If only the older one can go, so be it, but basically just wondering if we are still allowed to do group YES classes and if there are open slots, do ppl post here?

They no longer allow people to form their own groups. It MUST be a "real" established group like Girl Scouts, etc. So now our only option as individuals is to do the individual open enrollment. We have been scheduling our trips around whenever we can get a class. I really HATE the heat of June, but we went in June last year and are going again this year because of the Y.E.S. open enrollment classes.

I already booked a Magic Your Way Package with Disney....hotel, tickets and free dining. If I decided to sign up for a YES class, am I eligible for the discounted tickets or I am stuck with the full price tickets within my package?

Thanks!

You would need to either cancel your package and book a room-only reservation, or you would have to save your package tickets to use on a future trip. You can't add YES tickets to a free dining package, and Disney requires you to purchase tickets as part of the package.

A package has to include MYW tickets. YES tickets are completely separate tickets, sold through a different group, and cannot be part of a package.

You have a couple options:

1) Just use the package tickets and forget about YES tickets.

2) Get your package tickets reduced to the minimum (typically 2-day base), get YES tickets, and save the MYW tickets for a future trip (they can be upgraded to what you need then)

I was wondering the same thing. Now I'm pricing it every which way to see what the best deal is! Here are my choices:

Free dining with tickets included
Free dining with two day tickets to save for later and use YES tickets
Pay for food OOP, buy YES tickets, do the room only discount.

If you want to know how it all pans out, I'll let you know!

We did option B in January. Options A or C would have been a couple hundred bucks cheaper but the 2 day tickets we have set aside are worth almost $900 for our next non-YES trip, so we decided the higher immediate price tag was worth it.

Thanks! It's too bad that they got rid of the other option, but we'll just have to adjust. I too was hoping to avoid the summer, but it looks like that may be what we end up having to do. The savings are well worth it.

Just ran across the YES program...I am super excited. I love DISNEY!!! We were thinking of doing a Universal/Sea World/ Beach trip this July but now that I found this "discount" we will be able to do Disney for the same price as our initial plan above. We will be staying offsite this summer as it is several hundred dollars cheaper. Just gotta vote as a family tonight to see which of the above we are going to do. We have never gone to Universal or Sea World but have done Disney 2 times as a family. Wonder what my kids will pick. :cool1:

If they pick Disney......I may have a nervous breakdown, last time I planned our trip for over a year....good thing it was last August so everything is so fresh. You all can tell what my vote will be. :thumbsup2

So, on payday today as I go to puchase the extended family's tix and book the YES program they closed the only class that fit our vacation. GHAH! It's for the day after Father's Day, and we were staying an extra day specifically for that class as my son IS actually interested in the class. Has anyone experienced where they will open up a new class or extra spots this close to time? It will save almost $800 in ticket costs for me. We did the program last year and loved it!

We are doing Wild By Nature on June 21st I think. Anyone else doing that one? Kinda debating switching to ocean discoveries on the 20th just cause of the heat but I think wild by nature sounds alot more fun.

We will be at the Disney's Captivating Moments: Images with Impact, class October 26. Will anybody else be in the class? Has anybody else taken the class?

My teens will be taking the class in June. :goodvibes I will post how it goes. Last year my DD took the Animation class and loved it. My DS did Ocean Dis.(13 at the time) enjoyed it but, was geared for younger students.

What class was it?

I just thought I would let everyone know that they are very nice if your dates change for ticket pickup. I had originally thought we would be arriving Aug 24th and put that down as our arrival date but airfare was a lot less on the 23rd so we are now flying in a day earlier and leaving a day earlier than planned. I was nervous about calling and asking to push our pu date up, but they were very nice and accommodating about it!! Note: we didn't need to change our class date, just our arrival and pick up date. Anyway, I thought I would let you all know that just incase anyone else finds themselves in a similar situation. :)

They moved out pickup dates for the tickets too but I was wondering if we need a new confirmation sent to us. Did they send you a new confirmation?

I wanted to say thanks to everyone who contributes their valuable knowledge to threads like these. I never heard of YES until coming across it on the DISboard last year while we were at WDW.

Thanks to all the great info, last night around midnight I was able to book "Synergy in Science" for my 7yr. old son who is a science/tech nut.

Needless to say, he is ecstatic. I don't think he has been this excited about a Disney trip in the past, and he gets pretty excited each time. He already called Grandma to tell her the Imagineers are going to teach him how they use science at Disney.

Ticket savings are phenomenal, but I really am more excited about the unique experience he will have.

Thanks guys & gals.

:thumbsup2 Yeah, very happy for you! My kids took Synergy in Science last year (6 yr old girl and 7 yr old boy) and they loved it! They still talk about it and they say that taking another class is one of the most important things they want to do when they go back! (My dd is going to be pretty sad if they don't open up more classes, right now we were only able to book my ds into a class.). Hope you have a great trip!

On a side note - if your son really loves science and Disney, has he watched the Science of Disney Imagineering DVD series? They are made for classroom use I believe, but our library has them and my kids watch them over and over and over and over.... :lmao:

I didn't know something like that existed. I am going to check that out for sure. Thanks for the tip.
