My Fiance and I are looking through the Honeymoon Registry, and it looks pretty cool, since we were shopping other Honeymoon Registries online, but they charge fees where this one is Disney Specific for the park, so no fees and since we are going to the parks, we figured it might be a good thing since we do not need "items" per se. What do others think of it?

I am confused about something though. It offers events like the Christmas Party and MNSSHP, but how do they book those, or is it just gift card dollars that can be used towards the purchase of show tickets?

I would ask it here: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55 on the Wedding and Honeymoon forum.

Good luck. :)

I did not even know there was that board. If a Mod could throw this over, I would greatly appreciate it!

It all goes onto a gift card. We just charged everything to our room and then used it towards what we charged to the room.

I've moved this thread to the Weddings and Honeymoons board. :)

I registered through it, and it hasn't been working. The invites for my shower went out a few weeks ago, and the person who made them put the Disney Registry on. I have heard that people were not able to use it, and when I tried to add money on myself, it wouldn't work either. I complained to Disney, and all the said was to get people to call to add money on :headache: It has been really frustrating.

We used this and got a few gifts off it. Overall it was more of a headache then a benefit.

I've just set this up and am waiting for our gift card so I can activate it. I love the idea, since were going to WDW and a cruise. A lot of my family is big disney fans and I know they will contribute towards it. My grandma was practically begging me to set it up so she could play with it. I think they want to live vicariously through us...:lmao:

We dont need a lot of house stuff, so i'm hoping its a big hit. I'd love to hear peoples past experiences so I know what problems i may expect.

I definitely second that ~ we've lived together for almost three years now so the "set of dishes" on the registry is kinda silly. A Disney Registry is something we will definitely use!

Just be careful....we were banking on this, and nobody can use it since it isn't working. I remember reading a thread about a year ago with people having the same problems. It sucks for us, because we don't need any household things, since we have lived together for over 3 years!

I'll let you know if the registry starts working, but it hasn't been for the past week

I bit the bullet so to speak, and started the registry yesterday. When we can activate it (when we get the gift card), we will try "buying" ourselves a Fantasy Fund $10 to see how easy/hard it is to use before we publicly make it known

Hi Rachael - I haven't looked too much into the Honeymoon registry yet so I was wondering if you can explain what you mean about it going on to a gift card.

If you register for specific experiences, do you just get the monetary value of the experience on a gift card? Is that what you mean?

Also, does the gift card have to be used before you end your honeymoon? Is there an expiration date on the gift card?

thanks for your help!
Leah

We used this for our wedding about a year ago. It had it's ups and downs, literally! We also did not have a need to register for household stuff as we both owned houses and were trying to get rid of stuff! The biggest issue was that the registry would be unavailable for a day or two every couple of weeks. I got pretty frustrated when it was down the week of the wedding for 2 days!

It was nice in some ways, though. When a gift is purchased for you, the amount is loaded onto your gift card. So if someone buys you a tour, the amount of the tour is loaded and you can book the tour for whatever dates work best. If you end up not being able to take the tour, or you decide you don't want to, the money can just be used for whatever else. We charged everything to our room, then paid the balance at the end of our trip with the gift card. We actually ended up with a little left over, but the card never expires, so we'll be using that on our anniversary!

Also, the gifts that were purchased before the wedding, I was able to put that amount toward our package. I did use some of the funds after I had paid for the package in full, so they just refunded the amount to my credit card.

Basically, when it works, it's awesome!

Has it worked for anyone over the past 2 weeks? Myself and family members have tried everyday, and it hasn't worked :sad2:

The first card they sent us didn't work {it wouldn't activate} but somehow we were getting gifts still... then they sent us a new card that worked, but for some reason some gifts were on the old card that NEVER worked???

Half the time the website didn't work for us :(...

But the worst was every time we got a gift we didn't know who it was from! We got a lot from the registry during my shower and every time someone purchase something I would get an email that XXX amount had been put on the card, but we didn't know who it was from!!! EVERYONE who got us a gift off the registry eventually told us that there was a spot on the site to write a note that supposidly got sent to us but we never got it. I checked my spam and everything, I never got the notes that guests wrote. It was difficult finding out who got what because of course we didn't want to ask the people who didn't bring a gift to the shower, etc because that's just rude so... it was a lot of work to track down who got what!

thats annoying...

I started the registry last weekend and am still waiting for the gift card to arrive. When i tried to log on the other day it told me it didnt recognize my username. I figured ill just wait until the site is up and running again.
