Disney World Honeymoon Registry - Anyone Used it?

hey we used the honeymoon registry and had no problems with it. The site is a little temperamental but our guests have had no problems. we used it to pay for tours and now we are taking it with us on our honeymoon to pay for the extras we didn't have to before hand. besides some original site issues. we had no problems.

We got most of the things on our registry. we had it for the shower and then we saw what people bought then adjusted it when we finished paying off the honeymoon. Like we took off the room because it was obviously paid for. We also registered for all the restaurants we were planning on eating at instead of for the dining plan. the restaurants went the fastest.

I can update this on how it goes when I get back in 3 weeks. but so far its be just like a normal gift card. It was worth it for us because we didn't need a bunch of kitchen and house stuff and we wouldn't have been able to afford a proper honeymoon without it.

Hope this helps

Great Thanks shippedtosea

Happy Honeymoon!!!

I have been trying to register for our Honeymoon Registry for over an hour tonight :furious: It keeps telling me that I need to complete all forms with ** next to them. Well I have completed the form with all of our information requested!! I even created a new email address and tried to register with that one. AHHH!

we've had lots of problems accessing it and recieving the card and all. trace put $10 on it to see if it worked and it seemed to go through, but i never recieved an email or anything saying someone gave some money. we will be including it on our registry, but given the finicky-ness of the website, i don't have high hopes that any of our guests will be ABLE to donate to it even if they wanted!!

am i the only person who is pretty certain we wont get any gifts? i mean, its not a big wedding, people are traveling and now i am remembering every wedding announcement i've ever recieved for far flung relatives that i meant to send something too...... ahhhhh payback baby! :rolleyes1

Hi all - I'm trying to set up a Honeymoon registry and I've come to a screen that offers a chance to enter a promo code.

Do I need a promo code to get the free credit on the gift card? Is that offer even still available? I thought I read that Disney gives you a certain amount of money automatically for setting up a registry, but I can't figure out where I read that. Anyone know what I am thinking of? :confused3

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Or if I dreamed that up, pls let me know! :rotfl:

Many thanks,
Leah

I think the code is "newaccount" it says so on the disclaimer under the promo code box. But we did not get any credit or gift so it may not work any more.

Hi all - just wondering if anyone has new experiences to report. I can't even get the site to load right now so I am wondering if I am in for a world of hurt with this Honeymoon Registry! :confused3

Unfortunately, we were really hoping/counting on getting honeymoon items since we already have lots of stuff and didnt want to register for many "traditional" household items.

any info or suggestions??

thanks in advance!
Leah

Hey! Okay so we just got back from our honeymoon. We only registered with the Honeymoon Registry. We had no problems using it anywhere on property, including restaurants, gift shops, GF spa, horseback riding in FW. As far as I know no one had problems putting money on it. We used everything on it and was happy to find out that because its a Disney card they can use the left over money towards a purchase and you don't end up with a gift card with like 1.50 on it.

I would recommend it, and I haven't experienced the same problems as others have. We had a few problems with the site but they usually cleared up very quickly. I hope this helps

My fiance and I signed up last week. The first few times the site didn't work. I called and the gal said that the site was having problems over the last week and should be up soon. Immediately after I got off the phone with her I tried again not expecting it to work and it did! I got my gift card about 3 days later. After reading the posts on this board, I tested it out to see if it would be easy for my friends and family. I didn't have any problems <knocking on wood> and am really excited as I have lived with my fiance for 8 years and we have all the household items we could need. This is such a great option! :yay:

We just registered today.
We booked our Disney cruise yesterday so I was anxious to sign up for the registry... it took a while yesterday to actually sign in. It kept on saying "system error" every other page. I tried again this morning and I actually got in! I was so excited! :rotfl:

Anybody know why we have to call for our DCL reservation to be part of the registry?

So far I've registered for gratuities, fantasy funds, drinks, parasailing and bike rental for Castaway Cay. (Which is just for showsies for the gift givers ;))

I'm happy with it so far, hopefully no glitches in the future like some have mentioned!

We decided to register for our honeymoon as well, since we both have houses and really just don't need anymore stuff!

A friend of mine is a consultant for an online travel agency though, and his site offers honeymoon registry. It's pretty cool, we just put in the location (Orlando, FL) and it had all kinds of pre-entered things we could register for... most of which were Disney Activities (ie: Disney theme park, meal at Cinderella's Royal Table, etc) And you can also create your own items, which is kinda fun too :)

Since it's a generic site, the gift card is generic too... actually, we're supposed to just be able to transfer our money straight from the site to our bank account whenever we get gifts.

We liked this plan because we can also use it to pay for plane tickets and other things we want to do in Orlando (like Universal Studios...there is no way I'm going all the way to FL and NOT seeing Harry Potter World! I know... I'm a huge nerd :rotfl:)

Since this thread popped back up, I thought I would give a little update on my experience so far.

A lot of my guests had issues using the registry. The site was down for a little while, some guests don't have credit cards, some guests don't use the internet, and some didn't really know how it worked, etc. So I really didn't receive many gifts from the registry - people preferred to just buy a gift, or give us some money that we could use on our honeymoon.

I personally didn't really have an issues using the registry, but I am a lot more computer savvy than my guests so it makes sense. Since I haven't had my wedding yet, I haven't used the gift card, but I will update later and let everyone know how our experience using it went.

Not to take over the thread, but I have a question for you specifically. Since you set up a registry with DCL reservations, did the registry catalog ONLY show you DCL activities, or is it just one big registry with WDW activities as well?
We're doing a Disney Cruise and a few days in WDW, but we can only book the cruise now because WDW isn't booking out that far yet. I want to make sure the registry will show everything so we can get it set up ASAP instead of waiting until our WDW stay is booked months from now.

Otherwise, this thread has been helpful! Now I know to expect some glitches with the site, which is unfortunate because it looks like it's been happening for awhile now.

Yep! We can register for WDW items even though we're only doing the cruise.
It doesn't really matter though, like I said it's just for showsies. People think their giving you money for that specific item/activity but really you're just getting more money on the Disney giftcard to use however you'd like - on the cruise or in the parks/hotel.

Since this thread I started got bumped up, I figure I would update everyone as to how it has work for us so far.

While we have not told anyone about it yet where they could log in, we have been adding money to it via a coin jar, i.e. we jar all our loose coins and when it fills, we take it to the bank and count it, and with that money we buy fantasy dollars.

We found it simple to search for us, purchase what we wanted, and got e-mail confirmations both as a "gift giver" and "gift receiver". We are just now starting to tell people about it, so we will be curious how it works out. It was also easy to change amounts and add/delete items from the registry

if you just search from disney honeymoon registry it comes up first. And this is the website: honeymoonregistry.disney.go.com/

I just set up my registry with my fiance yesterday. We're still waiting for the gift card to activate our account. Thats a great idea to try to use the card yourself to make sure it works! Thank for the tip! Is anyone else having problems with the site?

I recieved my giftcard on Friday, couldn't activate it then. The site kept saying "system error".
Tried again Saturday, didn't work. Finally yesterday, Sunday, it worked. And our registry is officially activated!
Took a little bit but I'm sure it's definitely worth it! ;)

Btw, the giftcard is really pretty. I was expecting to look like the Disney giftcards that you see in the parks or at Publix.
It's cute and sparkly :cutie:

Does anybody know how long it takes to get the gift card mailed to you? I'm moving in a few weeks and wondering if I'll be ok if we give our current address or if I should just wait...
