Disney Wonder - Sept 30 2010 3 Night Bahamas

No problem. But okay girls if you guys buy into DVC I want a referral!! LOL!

YOu better believe it! I have been thinking about this for years. When I was on my honeymoon (1994) they presented us with it. We didnt think it would have been a good idea. Yeah, I am kicking my self now. So I am rethinking it and wondering what the economy will be to tell you the truth. I have $10,000 worth of plans for the next 2 years. If that would pay for half of the DVC, why not put it toward that? :scratchin

So we are 5, when we go to WDW we are happy to stay at a value resort (Family suite) this sept we are trying 2 connecting rooms.

On this cruise we are going on a CAT 4, it was purchased with my mom`s airline points. If it was up to me I would of gotten 2 connecting rooms (I don;t mind inside).

We have to fly to Florida, obviously, driving at this point is not an option unless the law allows tying children up on the roof rack!!!

How many points would we need to do anything? in value season?

Can the DVC be used for Disney Adventure or Disneyland or only WDW & DCL?

49 years seems so long...

If you guys will send me your email addresses, I will forward the sheets for the various resorts... So you can see the different options.

Jen, we did DVC because in 2 years, we spent about $7K with Disney. Our initial contract was I think around $18K for 230 points and we paid $2000 down. I just like knowing that my vacations are already budgeted.

Marianne, it's not necessarily for everyone, and sometimes you can get stuff cheaper. I like staying at the resorts on the monorail. With 2 small kids, it's just easier. So, for us, it was a better deal to do DVC. Also, so far, we've taken a 5 night/6 day Disney trip, and also traded in the points for a long weekend get away for DH and I. Like I said to Jen, I know for the next many years, I have a vacation already budgeted. When my kids don't want to go to Disney, or think they have aged out, then DH and I can trade the points and go to other places. Then, when we have grandkids (a long time from now), we have most of our vacation covered. So, it's basically just prepaying for a long time of vacations.

You have mine through facebook right? I spent $6,000 for this trip alone! But that also includes airfare and hotel before and after. hmmmmmmmmmmm

Here are some #'s

Minimum purchase 150 pts at 101/pt =15150 divided by 49yrs = 309/year for accommodations.

The last week of Sept(Tends to be cheap) in a AK"studio value accom" is
64pts at 101/pt = 6464 divided by 49yrs = 132/yr BUT the min is 150
Same with 2 bed value is 166pts
And 2 bed savanah view is 238pts

A week over Christmas(Dec19-26) 2 bedroom preferred view vacation home is
309 pts at 101/pt = 35249 divided by 49yrs = 720/year for accommodations.

Oh and you can't for get Maintenance costs which I don't have but @$250/yr???... that might be cheep.

But this I truly don't understand

This is property resale

WL150-09-0715 September 150 $10,950.00

I would assume resale to be better but I don't know the advantages of purchasing new from Disney.
I saw on that was 1000 pts for $69,000 or $69/pt thats pretty good and I've seen several for 60/pt.

From what I understand, buying used points, just means that you have fewer years to enjoy them. So that is why they are cheaper.

I've also heard for this to truly be a money saver, you need to pay for it with cash. Financing it in any way really takes away from its savings.

That could be a name "I Wonder Do You?"

That was what I was thinking but then again I thought maybe she was referencing what I said before. STEPHANIE! DON'T CONFUSE ME! You KNOW how easy that is!! :lmao: As long as P. Leilani keeps that rabbit in its cage, I have a fighting chance without things like this popping up!! :scared1:

Eoghan and I are DVC members too. Fairyly new though, we just bought in on our Disneymoon last May.
We bought into BLT with 160 points financed through Disney and then added on 82 points at AKV shortly thereafter.
We got the cruise for free when we initially bought in.

Steph is handling all the questions great! :goodvibes so I don't think I have much to add at this point. So far we have used our points for a shorty trip last Sept. (3 nights at BLT) and this coming 10 night stay at WDW plus another stay in Jan. 11 for 4 nights.
After that we intend to use points for a trip to DC and Jamaica before we head back to WDW in 2013 (unless something else comes up in the meantime!) ;)

I can try to help out with questions as well as best I can...

Happy Monday everybody! :grouphug:

Happy monday sweetie!

I just shipped your FE. I just love it. Took a pic but I dont have it with me :(

I am confused on the park details. Stephanie sent me sheets (thank you!) but there was nothing said about the dining package. Is that additional or included? My concern is knowing how many points I need. I figured up on a 3 day cruise would cost me something like 250 points! I am wanting to do the 7 day Caribbean and the transatlantic. I know you can add money but money and points is going to break me. Maybe my tastes are way out of my income's league! lol
