The lady at my liqour store almost didn't card me. I was like LADY! Do I LOOK 21?! I mean obviously I was...but I swear I don't look it! I was about to be sad if she didn't card me.

I never get carded anymore....it makes me sad. Once we were out, and the waiter said "ma'am, can I see your ID?" and I said "really?" and he said "no, just kidding."



Seriously. Do I look THAT old? Sheesh. I'm only 33!

I hear ya!!! My boss gave us wine for Christmas. She asked the one girl You are 21 right? I called her on the phone and said "Why didnt you ask me if I was 21?" OOOOH to be 21 again! I do like to look at the patients ages in the Er and say Boy that person is the same as me and I look better!

I am excited because we got a new mattress today.....which officially makes me old.

Kinda a long story.. but... here goes.

My parents and I had another fight (they're claiming my tuition on their taxes AGAIN and they didn't pay for ANY of my tuition/fees/books which results in me owing taxes :Grrr: ) so when my dad called and started yelling at me that they weren't going to be "supporting me" anymore... I just told them I was done with them. (BTW: I've lived on my own for a year, pay all my utilities, owned my car, paid my tuition, books, insurance, gas, etc.. they did NOT support me in any way!) I told them I wasnt' fighting anymore, wasn't doing the emotional up and down anymore. We haven't talked in weeks and the longer it goes the more I'm completely okay with it. Which upsets me a little, but I think thats just because that relationship is a hard one to seperate from! The first night I cried like a baby.. I made Tom take my cell phone and keys with him to class so I couldn't go back on my decision and call and apologize. I'm sticking to it this time, they can apologize to me!

Anyway..

Tom and I have been discussing something these past few weeks and decided that we weren't going to tell anyone.. and we also weren't going to tell anyone AFTER we do it... most likely anyway. Probably.

I'm not going to lie, it's been killing me. So today I realized I can tell YOU GUYS!!!! Maybe it'll help me keep the secret from the people I see everyday...

...we've decided... and are about 99% sure... maybe 98.9%, sometimes we waiver...that we are going to get married next month in Vegas....

...our thoughts are
1) we live together already and love it
2) we've been talking about marriage (he got ANOTHER criptic call from a S.Sgt in the Marine Corps today that scared the CRAP out of me!) because of his military obligations (what would we do if he got recalled? that sort of thing)
3) I could get him vision/dental insurance through work which he doesn't get through the VA
4) If we're married... I'd be eligible for grants, scholarships, better loans.. stuff that I can't get right now because of my EFC being 36x the tuition at my college (even though my parents do not give me a DIME of it!)
5) We know we're going to get married eventually and we can always have the big, elaborate wedding later..

..so there is a snapshot of what has been in my mind the past week... Part of me is super scared but the other part knows that I love him and from a legal sense, it'll make our lives a lot easier. Seems silly to wait for something that will only help us...

Who knows!

OMG PATSY! I am so happy for you! That's wonderful news! (As I was reading I started thinking...they're getting married aren't they?!?) That's so awesome! How wonderful!!!!!!!!! (I'm sorry to hear about the latest falling out with your parents but it sure sounds like you have your head on your shoulders and you've learned how to deal with it best.) If you and Tom love each other and you are happy together, I say go for it! Life is too short! As you said, you can always have your big celebration later. You'd better tell us when it's official!

We walked Rink for about two hours tonight and seriously talked about Pros/Cons.
It's sorta killing me a little bit that I'm going to get married in three weeks (we decided to do it, i think) and my parents will not even know about it.

We've been researching a little bit about different chapels, I keep getting more excited and sad at the same time!

The plan right now is a really simple Vegas wedding (with a few actual pictures) 5/15/08 and an actual big wedding for everyone on 2/29/2012. (We think it's a neat date, haha.)

I know he's a true keeper--- we had some Shih-Tzu issues that involved LOTS of orange vomit and he cleaned up most of it while I cleaned up and sat with the puppy!
