Disney Wonder March 20th 2011 sailing

Me TOOOO! Money saved on one thing is extra money for something else.... or it would be nice to actually come home with some leftover money this time..... I can hope!:rotfl::rotfl:
Good luck with that idea! I would love to come home with leftover money, but I don't expect to. I just hope to keep to the budget :rotfl2:

I HATE the budget... it stress me out sometimes. I tend to freak out if something costs more than i budgeted for. Then I feel like I have to cut somewhere else to make up the difference. This year, I am OVER budgeting just in case..... then I have a cushion. On the last Disney cruise we took, we were newbies, so we made mistakes... this time I'm smarter..... LOL:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hey all, I thought I'd mention this for the newbies.....

Once on board, don't forget to go to the Guest Services Desk and ask for your tickets to the Alice in Wonderland Tea Party. I didn't know about this until someone told me, and I was able to get tickets luckily. It's FREE and fun for everyone. They only have 2 days available, and it's first come first served, so it was our first quick stop once on board! You MUST have tickets to attend.....

It's held in one of the family rooms/theatres and it's interactive. They play a game with audience participants, and the "tea" is apple juice, along with cookies!

Write it down on your list everyone.....:yay::yay:

Also, in case you're wondering, you will get your shore excursion tickets in an envelope in your room once you get there... ours were waiting for us when we first got to our room.
Inside you will also find your Character Breakfast tickets! You're assigned a rotation, so ours was Thursday. I believe they make it a day at sea, so no one misses out..... It was so much fun....

If anyone has any questions that I can answer, ask away.... I'm about to pull out my Disney box with all of the daily bulletins from our last cruise, so i can look stuff up if I can't remember......

It's odd, but we actually have ended up not booking any excursions through Disney. In PV we are taking a taxi to Agave grill for tequilla tasting. The reviews on the food have been great! for Mazatlan we are taking a taxi to El Cid resort, all inclusive. Then in Cabo we are taking a taxi to Villa Del Palmar resort - Disney offers an excursion there but way way cheaper to go to the resort and get the day pass on your own.

We love be beach. Being in the midwest we don't get to see a beach very often, just the boring Mississippi river, oh and the missouri river which is equally as boring.

Hi everyone, I found this on another page and thought I would paste it here for all of you.

me and my family are doing this for sure.....

http://www.disunplugged.com/2011/01/14/the-wonder-moves-west-part-3-pass-me-a-cerveza/

I've read alot about Stone Island on other posts and boards, and It's even on a couple of the Disney excursions..... only difference is price. Since my husband and I both speak Spanish, we are TOTALLY comfortable finding our way around the ports and doing our own thing. I signed up for Outdoor Adventure excursion in Puerto Vallarta with the zip lining and mule ride, but was looking to do something on our own in Mazatlan, and this is it!!

When we went to the Caribbean on the Magic last March, we rented a car on our own in Cozumel, and toured the whole island.... it cost us $80 to rent the car, including insurance, and another $30 to refill the tank. So 4 of us spent $120 for something that Disney was charging $80 a person for.....

I'm just saying... I LOVE Disney, but it's still a business and they need to make money. I respect that, and you get what you pay for. Disney is behind you, they supply you with a guide, keep you safe, etc, etc. But for us, who have traveled to Mexico since we were kids, we can do it on our own......

Check it out. if anyone wants to meet up and we can get down the Stone Island as a big group, I'm all for it......

Cyndi

We were thinking of going to Stone Island ourselves but we were not sure since we don't know the place but I would love to go to Stone Island as a big group, count us in.

Thanks for the info Cyndi, this really helps a lot esp for us newbies. Is Alice in Wonderland Tea Party both for adult and kids?

Although my husband's birthday is prior to the cruise, this cruise is our celebration of it, so I'll put it down. Our daughter does competitive gymnastics so we're tied to her competition schedule for vacations, and the week we're going is the only time we could go.

Perfect! Happy birthday to him.... : )

i am just getting caught up here after the holidays and i see that two of our cabins that cancelled ages ago are still on the FE exchg list. i'm SO sorry! the two cabins that should still be ON there are ron and lara (ds 8 turning 9, and dd 7) and roland and joyce (ds 5, dd 3). the other two cabins were one family that had to back out. sorry!

and when it gets a little closer can we have a bump or re do of the "don't forget" list from the pros here for us newbies?

i'm going to look into what stone mtn is. we haven't booked any excursions yet.

we were unable to get palo :0( and getting a couples massage was tough! hoping to move the time once on board.

as for getting kids into the clubs. do we need to sign up ahead of time? will they fill up?

sorry this is a lot of info for one post...i'm a mess all over tonight...then again it is 12:30 am...lol!:rolleyes1

One more thing..... I booked a room at the Doubletree Hotel in San Pedro...

I wasn't sure what to expect, so my family and I drove up to San Pedro to check it out.... We hit the Jackpot!!

The hotel was beautiful, safe, and tucked away in a quiet corner at the end of the row, close to where they are adding the new ports. So since it's not open yet, it's really quiet.... It's actually on the Marina, adjacent to the Yacht Club.... If you walk out the lobby doors, you are literally on the ocean and have perfect view of all the boats and yachts that are docked there.... Not to mention the warm "Welcome" chocolate chip cookie we got just for visiting that day....

They are running a special that would most interest those of us driving...

Magical Cruise Package

The package for a room with a king or 2 queens is $199. The port charges $12 per day for parking, so that alone would run us $96. That makes the room only $103 with free shuttle, and breakfast! Look into it.... Here's the link

I've been going back and forth about Doubletree vs Crowne Plaza, but Doubletree is $40 cheaper, so with your glowing recommendation I think I'm going to book it. We're flying so no car to park.

59 days and we'll be in Disneyland, before the cruise!!:cheer2:

I haven't been in 20 years, for my DH, it's been longer and our 2 DDs have never been. They are dying to go to Disneyland! They don't know about our trip yet, they just know that it costs a lot of $ and so they have been saving it. It's been really nice, everytime they want something, they remember that we are saving our $ for Disney;) They are really good at reminding me too, when ever I buy something. It's cute but annoying, as I know they are right! DH always jumps in there in agreement...

I can't wait to tell them about our trip. They don't even realize there is such a thing as a Disney Cruise, they will be beside themselves. I think maybe we'll tell them the weekend before we go? We'll see...

We will be celebrating my DDs birthday on the ship, although it's a month early:

Just prepare yourselves mentally for the fact that California Adventure is totally under construction. How many days are you going to DL before the trip?

We've never been to CA adventures, so I guess at least we don't have any expectations...? Is it still worth checking out? I think we're just a couple months early for the new Ariel Undersea Adventure. She's our favorite, so that's a little disappointing. But, again the girls don't know what they are missing.

We get in on Wednesday afternoon. I haven't decided if we'll do 3 day Park Hoppers, or 4. We'd only be there from about 3pm on on Wed. But, I thought it might be good to get in a parade, or evening show that first night. We're just coming from Portland, and it's an 11 am flight, so we should be rested. It's such a neglible difference in price for a 4 day...

DCA is definitely worth checking out, I don't know how old your girls are, there are probably some rides they can't go on. But Toy Story Midway Mania is awesome, as is Soarin. The Bug's Land rides are very cute, especially if your kids are young. We were bummed too that Ariel wouldn't be open yet, I heard they are soft opening it over Easter weekend, we missed it by a month!

If the price isn't much difference I'd go for the 4 days and take it a little easier. You'll get an early entry with a park hopper, I highly recommend you take advantage of that. The lines for the Fantasyland rides and Finding Nemo are SO much shorter. My Disneyland strategy is always to go as early as possible in the day, you can usually ride almost as many rides in the first two hours after opening as you can during the entire rest of the day.

We love Disneyland so much, we typically go every year or every other year, but this time we're skipping it because we don't really have enough time to make it financially worth it.

Are you trying to book Palo for more than two people? Because it still shows both brunch and dinners available for 2 people when I go to look.

Adding on.
