Disney with two broken arms - (Final Day 1/23)

Love the castle pics!!! I'm glad they gave you your money back too. I never rent strollers myself but I've always heard they refund unused days. Can't wait to see your party pics!

Oh yeah! I meant to also let you know that we were less than impressed with breakfast at CRT when we did it, too. In the Cinderella room we felt like hearded cattle. We must have had the same waitress because she was completely uninterested in any of us. Grrrr! For hubby and my no-kids trip in May I went out on a limb and tried CRT for a later dinner. Totally different ballgame! You still get the one-on-one with Cindy but without the cattle call. Upstairs is different. You don't have the characters coming to the table. Fairy Godmother does a little singing thing with 2 of the mice which was fun and sweet which was great for just us. The food was waaaay better than breakfast. We got to watch (and feel) Wishes from inside the castle. That was quite magical. Just as the show concluded we watched a sweet young couple get engaged at a table near ours. Talk about Pixie Dust in the air. The experience as a whole was much more low-key and enjoyable. We will be taking our boys (11 & 12 yrs old) for dinner in January. I've learned from a lot of dining experiences some restaurants are just better for different meals. We like CRT and Ohana's better for dinner than breakfast. Sci-Fi better for lunch than dinner. If at first a restaurant seems not up to snuff, try it for a different meal. Quite frequently the experience will be 180 degrees different. :thumbsup2

Your girls are adorable! Don't remember if I commented before or not but I'm loving your TR. I'm glad your arms got better as the trip went on. I was debating Stitch's ride at MK too. I wasn't sure about the smell. When you said it appears like stitch is in your lap or running/jumping on you, does it hurt like the bees at Honey I Shrunk the Audience used to? (Ok maybe it doesn't hurt but I have a huge bee phobia so I remember it hurting a bit when I went, but that was 16 years or so ago.)

Thanks!
Karen

Great update. I love your pictures!

DH and I are not fans of the Stitch ride. I flipped out a bit in the seat restraint. He tried to loosen it for me and ended up making it tighter. :scared1: I think the last time we were on it was 2007. We took my mom too and she hated it!

I"m so glad to hear that your arms are feeling better now, but sorry to hear that you have one in a sling still at times!! Any idea when you'll be completely healed? Will you ever do that race again??:confused3

Looks like everyone had a nice time at MK that morning....never tried Stitch before.....seems kind of pointless? I've heard some bad reviews on it, as well.
Got to love the Buzz ride...we must have done that 5 times last year and I'm sure we'll be frequenting it again this coming trip....it's so much fun but I'm so bad at it!!! LOL!!:rotfl:

Looking forward to seeing the costumes and hearing all about MNSSHP!!:goodvibes

I too was unimpressed when we ate at CRT. When we went though, it wasn't a character meal. You met Cinderella and Prince Charming in the lobby area. The food was... not so much.
Your girls look very cute and looked like they had a good time. That's all that matters.
I LOVE the Monsters Inc show!! It was very funny. Can't wait to hear about your MNSSHP!

I have finally read all the way through your trippie. You have a beautiful family. Even with the injury it sounds like you had a terrific trip. Can't wait to read the rest.

Your DD's are so cute!!!!!!!! You can definately tell they are not camera shy at all!!:lmao: Hollie is the same way!! Always smiling when there is a camera!

No problem! Dbf was so impressed with your story (about getting back on your bike and finishing your run too) that you were the talk over the football games today :rotfl: But seriously, super mom and super DH! I'm sad to see that your TR is ending already, wish I would have caught it sooner! :goodvibes

So glad to have you now. Better late then never.:rotfl: And wow, very honored that I was the talk over football games.:goodvibes

What date did you do MNSSHP? We had 5:15 ressie at Ohana's before our party night but I think our trips crossed earlier in your stay.

We did MNSSHP 9/19 when did you?

I'm planning on it if I can figure how to do the stupid photobucket thing. I'm happy that you will read it. That's my biggest fear is that no one will read it 'cept me! You know, kinda like I'm my biggest fan thing??? I plan on starting it tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have a link. I'll pm you when I figure it out. :thumbsup2

I got your PM.:thumbsup2 And I have now doubt that you will have tons and tons of viewers.:goodvibes

Hmmm, yet another "unimpressed" CRT experience.:sad2:

I'm late to join this party, too! I'm 3 hours into this read and it's been a blast. You have a beautiful family. Your girls are adorable!

I love love love the custom Minnie dresses. Shoot! I'd wear one! The little cogs in my brain are spinning double-time trying to create an interpretation of these little gems that won't look utterly ridiculous on a grown-up girl like me. Where did you find these??? I love 'em. Simply amazing!

Aaaand, I gotta hand it to ya, girl, the fact that you got back on that bike and finished your race speaks volumes. Even tho you really were injured in the end, more power to ya! A lesser person would've just laid there and let the injury dictate the rest of the race. YOu finished what you started. Girl power! WooHoooo!!!

Next, gotta give props to your hubby for taking such great care of you and the girlies not only to get on with life post-injury, but so the trip could go on. Just think of the memories your girls will have someday about the trip when Mom had 2 broken limbs. LOL! I'm sure that promotes you to super-Mom status for life. LOL!

I'm eagerly awaiting the rest of your adventure! Make sure you end with an update on your overall health. Poor you. HOpe the arms healed up well and your recovery was speedy.

Hugs!

:welcome: Thanks so much! Glad to have you. The dresses were actually ordered from a lady who makes custom disney dresses and sells them on ebay. I tried to find her name for others but I unfortunately didn't keep it. My DDs teacher said the same thing when she saw it. She asked if they made it in her size. She loves Disney as well.:thumbsup2

Good to know. If we ever feel like doing it again we will try dinner. "hearded cattle" is definitely how we felt.

So sorry your experience at CRT wasn't the greatest. Unfortunately it seems like that is the trend.

At first I thought that I might just have lower expectations from most people. We went for dinner at 5:30pm in May 2007, breakfast at 8:05am in September 2007 and dinner again at 5:30pm in May 2008. All of these experiences were excellent. Food, atmosphere, service and CM interaction.

However, when I looked at your 2 videos I would not describe that as a great experience! What a nightmare! We had the staircase pretty much to ourselves on each of the 3 occasions we attended. I don't know how that worked out, but it was nothing like yours. What a negative experience before you even sit down at the table!

Obviously they are not (and likely will not) be hurting for people willing to shell out big bucks to dine in the castle. It is just a shame that it seems the whole experience is suffering from lack of attention and care.

Well I am honestly glad to hear that some actually did have a good experience there.:thumbsup2

Yes, it would have been very unDisney-like to send us away w/ a $30 unused stroller ticket.

Actually it feels like Stitch is on your shoulders. They put restraints that stop at your shoulders. So when you hear Stitch on your side of the room there is a little pressure added to your shoulders. It wasn't painful to me but check out the comment bellow. OhioDisney describes it well.

Great update. I love your pictures!

Don't worry...We were confused when we got off Stitch too!

Yep, certainly seems like a waste of an attraction. Glad we didn't waste too much time in line.:goodvibes

I really do plan on doing more TRIs next summer. However, I want to buy a good road bike and spend lots of time training on the same bike this time. So, I've got my eyes on Craigslist and Ebay for a good road bike.

I have finally read all the way through your trippie. You have a beautiful family. Even with the injury it sounds like you had a terrific trip. Can't wait to read the rest.

Yeah, you made it through the trippie.   Thanks so much for reading and posting.

Yes, I was wondering if I was corrupting the girls when they started to arrange their own photo shoots by the end.:rotfl2:

We left off having a great nap after a fun filled morning at CRT and MK. It is now our last evening in the World and we are off to Ohana and MNSSHP. So we all got up and eagerly put on our costumes. We didn’t want anything that would be too cumbersome or hot in the park but we wanted to all dress in a theme. So, this is a little jump but it is the first picture we took that really showed our costumes.

THE INCREDIBLES!!!
image309.jpg

DD7 was Violet and DD4 was Dash. (She had no problem being the boy. She liked to run around fast everywhere to play her part as Dash.) Their hair worked out well for their parts as well since DD7 has darker, long, straight hair and DD4 has short blond hair. If anyone asked where the baby was we just said “w/ the babysitter”. We didn’t go too far out w/ the costumes. I made the shirts w/ iron-ons and we found the little eye masks at a Halloween store before we left. We definitely had fun playing our parts though.

But first, we’re off to Ohana. On the way there we passed the Magic Kingdom sign that had these blown up pumpkin Mickey heads on it. That was neat to see since we didn’t expect it.

Once there we asked to be seated in the main dining area so we could be part of the fun and we were. First off the food. Hmmmm. A LOT of meat. I don’t think I’ve mentioned it but for the past year I have had problems w/ my gall bladder. It is inflamed and causes me back pain, nausea, and head aches. One food source that my gall bladder has trouble w/ is meat. In fact, before coming to WDW I hadn’t had any meat or animal protein in over a month. The girls do eat meat but weren’t quite sure about it because of how it was presented to them (being served off big forks). I did see another family near us ordering more kid-friendly food (macaroni and grilled cheese). My girls would have enjoyed this much better but since their plates were already filled I didn’t ask for it. I will next time though. Because it was basically all meat, I ate some and did end up feeling sick and nauseous later on. The steak was very fatty too. I’ve read reports in which the steak was really good but this night it was too fatty for any of us.

Now, with that said, we did really enjoy the environment of Ohana. First they did the limbo. DD7 loved this. DD4 wasn’t quite brave enough to get up there but she enjoyed watching it.

DD4 was not brave enough to go do the Hula but DD7 was glad to.
DisneyWorld2008135.jpg

Here is a clip of her amongst others learning the Hula. She is really concentrating on the moves in this video.

While we were there they only gave those who danced the leis. At the end of the video you see DD going up to the singer to ask for more leis for the rest of her family which she received.

While we were dining we saw another family dressed up as The Incredibles come in and boy did they look INCREDIBLE. From a distance their costumes looked professionally bought. They were made of a tight material and even had the long sleeves and tight pants. There is no way I could have got DH to wear those tights but I was very impressed w/ this family. Before we left we went to say hi to them. I regret not taking their picture. They were a very nice family and seemed happy that we came to greet them. The wife said that her DH had lost a bet and therefore had to dress up as Mr. Incredible. He did seem a little unhappy about it but in good spirits. While they looked great I was much happier in my t-shirt for the September day. We did see the family one other time at MNSSHP and they were the only other Incredibles there that evening.

Next Up :hourglass: MNSSHP

CUTE costumes!!!!! We're doing O'Hana again. I think my parents will LOVE the place. We've been twice for dinner and enjoyed it both times. I can't wait to get some more of those potstickers and sticky wings...yum yum yum!

Great trip report... We are going with our kids (5) and (2) In
Jan. and was wondering where you got the iron ons for the shirts?

Great update. I like the idea of T's for coolness in your costumes. Although here in NY, we usually need winter coats with our costumespirate: Can't wait to hear more.

Awww, great update!! Your costumes look awesome!!!

I've just read through your entire trip report, awesome job! I love your Incredibles costumes too, the Halloween party is sooo much fun!

You all look great in your costumes. DH and I choose not to eat at Ohanas even though we were staying at the Poly in Sept. I had heard about all that skewered meat and Iam not a big meat eater either. DH is though:rolleyes1 I made ADRs at Kona instead. Looking forward to your next update.

MNSSHP is the best! Ohanas is one of my favorites also.

Can't wait to see the party pictures!
