Disney vloggers on Lighthouse Point

Same, you and I both. I wait to form a opinion till I see and experience in person

It's Wish 2.0 - welcome back to all the people that formed their opinion of that ship based on the reviews/opinions of other people.

I've never based my own thoughts off of someone else's opinion and experience and don't plan to do so now. We sailed the Wish its inaugural season and enjoyed it.

We visit Lookout Cay in August and I'll form my own opinion then. I'm certainly not calling anything a fail after one day and one load of vI

I found the reviews of the Wish to pretty spot on. The good and the bad. I find reviews very helpful when planning a trip. Disney cruises are expensive. It's good to be informed.

For those cruisers that have been to LHP and experienced the flies at lunch, what has been the response from DCL? Surely some passengers took video or photos and went directly to guest services on LHP or upon returning to the ship? What is DCL saying?edit: are they offering a stateroom credit or in any way trying to make up for this

Curious what changes would get it up to a B for you?

Because the changes I would need to get it that high would be things that would require additional construction- Space geared for kids older than 10 (Hideout, Da Shade, Bigger Slides), Float Rentals (which they are not offering because of environmental concerns), and more shade (more construction)

Things that would make it closer to an A would be the above and additional things like the adult beach not right next to family beach (clearly not happening), and more than two rows deep of oceanfront seating (Im assuming if this could have happened it already would be)

Right now I don't even think it's a C- because flies all over the food is not okay, but if they get that handled and the bikes in, yes C- seems fair.

But if the Preview cruise (and all the media Disney hosted on it) is making guest less excited to book or about their upcoming cruises (which seems to be the case for many) I think while LP isn't a full failure, DCL's roll out of it is.
This is my wishlist too, #1 space for older kids and then I can overlook everything else. #2 shade (I get sunstroke easily), #3 fix access issues (likely impossible but being sensitive to heat/ sun I don’t think I can make the 30ish min walk/ tram ride especially with my kids)

They are trying to work out what to do about the flies.
There will be activities for older kids run by Counselors.
I am not sure on the shade. You think it’s hot? Spare a thought for your character friends!!!!!

Mags- Can you tell me more about the activities for the Vibe set being held at LP? Where are they being held and what are they? I saw a scavenger hunt and sand building item... those seem like activities that might get more traction with the Edge age crowd vs Vibe so I am hoping there are more offerings.

I’m not 100% certain but I’ll ask friends in YA and get back to you 😀

Absolutely. She is the magic. Even trying to make this island look good, she’s trying her best. Disney cast is the absolute magic.

My good good friend hook hand Bobby just left hopefully I get to run into Mags and/or her friends when we sail later this year

Thanks for being so responsive Mags. You make Disney look good (in this bad situation that they brought upon themselves).

It's people like you (inside of DCL) that give us hope.

Thank you so much for saying that! You all know how much I love my job haha 🥰

This is carnival cruise lines new bohemian island concept that incorporates the culture and conservation efforts as well.
This is the exact opposite of the concept of conservation - huge wasteful use of water in a place that often has issues with freshwater availability. Given that the Bahamian government required Disney to be environmentally conscious, this was never going to be on the table regardless of the costs that they would or wouldn't have been willing to put out.

It’s the same bohemian government who green lit this project as well and was told to be environmental conscious.

Grand Bahama Island and Eleuthera have very different levels and availability of freshwater sources. While both islands have sensitive ecosystems and are subject to issues related to climate change, Eleuthera's is particularly sensitive to large-scale infrastructure projects. While the Bahamian government may be accepting of the Carnival resort design, a giant pool in an area with water availability issues is not representative of a conservation ethos.

I don't understand why I keep reading, they provide transportation for folks that have mobility issues. Castaway Cay doesn't discriminate, EVERYONE can use their trams!! Why just mobility issues, all families can use them and they are terrific. Disney, you dropped the ball in a huge way, you have forgotten customer service here and keeping people just plain comfortable getting to the island. I'll stay with Castaway Cay, for sure.

The pier has no transportation generally. If you have mobility issues or are a Cabana guest then you can get golf cart transportation down the pier. Once at the island the trams are available for everyone to use to the beach, not just mobility challenged.

They can make their own water and probably already are. These are just excuses that have no basis in fact that people are making up for Disney. Disney could have fought harder, tried harder and done more to make this a world class experience. They chose not to - plain and simple.

For reasons I just won’t understand why just defend Disney

CC is the Flagship island, and where the newest ships are going....

In Chapek's Disney, if you wanted the best island should have booked the newest ship...

I think many thought it would be the opposite - keep fares high on the old boats with a new island, but I think it was the opposite - keep capacity up by offering everyone a private island, but give the best island to the newest ships....

In hindsight, it should have been more telling....
