Disney vloggers on Lighthouse Point

@Mags2002 since your friends with the characters can you tell us what the meeting places are and who meets and also are they going to have better meet and greet areas outside a fence?

They will be sorting this out to make sure the best spots are used for photo ops so I will get back to you. As for which characters, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Pluto, Chip and Dale should all be scheduled to appear.

PS what does everyone think of the outfits?

It's Wish 2.0 - welcome back to all the people that formed their opinion of that ship based on the reviews/opinions of other people.

I've never based my own thoughts off of someone else's opinion and experience and don't plan to do so now. We sailed the Wish its inaugural season and enjoyed it.

We visit Lookout Cay in August and I'll form my own opinion then. I'm certainly not calling anything a fail after one day and one load of vloggers.
Same, you and I both. I wait to form a opinion till I see and experience in person

Haven’t been, but I love the outfits from vlogs

But now that Chapek is gone Rhode is back to teach other Imagineers,,,What does that tell you?

Now, it looks like an old standby is coming back to the Walt Disney Company for a short amount of time. In a recent post on Instagram, Walt Disney Imagineering announced that Joe Rohde, one of the most beloved Imagineers ever, will be returning to lead some master classes for everyone currently working with the company.

BUT they didn't put him back on this project.

Agree 110%, but in DCL's defense, since this was apparently the first time they served the masses, they may not have known flies were an issue.
I'm in this camp. Because I would hope if they knew this was going to be such a big problem they would have made sure to fix it because of course it's going to show up in all the vlogs. :P

Yeah I've been to outdoor parties in October where 8 billion bees descend on the party. It's all I remember of my friend's kid's first birthday party, soooooooo many bees.

They were clearly uninvited, but the hive is basically full at that point in the season and needs all the food they can find.

Maybe there's a way to install some screen netting on the structures...but screening gets beat up sooooo fast.

He is instructing the other Imagineers, which means, hopefully, his philosophy will be imbedded in them and how they design. That is my point.

Fans should also work to deter them if properly placed.

If all those photos and reports of flies on the food and bothering people trying to eat and then flies ending up on the ship are true, there’s absolutely no way I would book an itinerary that stops there. 🤮

They are all over the place! And soooo cute 😍 here is another one

Those crabs are awesome! One of my kids would want to go just for that! I hope the crowds don't drive them away!

I'm looking forward to hearing reports from the next several stops made there. I bet they will get the fly situation sorted out quickly. I hope so anyway, that seems like the worst part IMO. Especially if they're migrating back to the ship! The lack of shade on the pier doesn't bother me. I wear a big hat and long sleeve cover-up, and I expect the ocean breeze will keep it cool. I don't know if having awnings up would improve or detract from the current appearance. The beach chairs behind the dunes is a little odd, but I don't really spend much time just sitting in a beach chair looking at the ocean. The chair is usually just a place to drop my stuff while I'm in the water or on the sand. So, if my towel and hat happen to sit behind the dunes while I'm in the water, that would be okay. I'll also be interested in how the nature trail is, when that opens.

We went yesterday. No desire to go back. Canceled excursions for our second stop. All the flies are truly nasty! Most of the chairs and umbrellas are behind the dunes and you can't see the water at all (or your children) Huge fail! DS8 and DM really struggled with the walk on the pier at the end of the day. If it wasn't for DS, we wouldn't get off the ship on our second stop. We will be actively avioding any future cruises that stop there.

Ouch. What exactly did you do all day on the island?

This kinda’ reminds me of the opening day of Disneyland, although on a smaller scale (with the exception of the scale of that darn pier 😉).
Seems like they coulda’ waited ‘til Oct. or Nov. or even early Dec., and had the place more finished and all decked out for the Holidays.
And yea, one of Disney’s specialties used to be “The reveal”. That pier is a reveal alright, with the main reaction bein’ “WTH…?!?!?!” 🤣

Excuse my very rudimentary iPhone markup, but Disney could have made that pier at least a few feet wider with similar (sturdy) covers and put benches along the railing at either end of the covers in the shade, and it would have been so much more appealing.
These are the kinds of details Disney set the bar on and prided themselves on in days gone by.

Was at CocoCay a week ago (also Bahamas not far) they have colorful tarps and benches. It is totally doable and not outrageous in cost to do.

And there were no flies, the dining areas were so nice, many stations, no flying appetizers. No excuses, needs to be addressed immediately.

We will be there on Saturday and the flies are grossing me out so much I gag thinking about it. We have two stops at LHP and there is just no way that food is sanitary with all those flies everywhere. All the other things are annoying but not DISGUSTING. A restaurant in the US would be shut down if flies were all over the food. I have no idea what I'm going to do about eating on the island.
We cruise there next month. If the flies are still an issue, we will eat a big breakfast and just stay at LP until 1 or 2 and then grab a light lunch on the ship and will stay there. Since there's no teen hang out or floats/tubes, or slides in the ocean I doubt my teen will want to stay more than 2-3 hrs. I may take some factory sealed snacks to eat. I love the lunch at CC so very disappointed. Hopefully they will have the flies gone by the time you are there.

Yeah - I threw some power bars in my suitcase last night, but it's pathetic that we need to do that. No floats or tubes is going to be a big bummer for my daughter also. My husband is not a beach fan and just humors us, so he probably will just sit in the shade and read.
