We are almost DVC owners... we just bought SSR resale and have been told that all the paperwork is finalized and the closing is this week! I have been reading these boards daily since we put in our offer back in January! I love all the insider tips!! My DH thinks I'm a little obsessed, but that's okay... Anyway, after reading the boards, I decided a Disney Visa made a lot of sense as an easy way to save up some spending money for our trips. I applied on line and got one in February. The offer at the time was $25 credit off of your first purchase.
WELL, yesterday in the mail, I got an offer for a $200 gift card if I applied for the Disney Visa! I called and told my story of how I just got the card last month, no real special offer, etc. and asked if I could get this offer. I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Anyway, I was told (politely) that they would check with marketing and get back to me. Has this happened to anyone else and is it too much to hope for?

I think you need some pixie dust on this one.:wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

Good luck!

omg - i just put in a resale offer on VWL today. i was hoping it would close a lot sooner. seeing that you put your offer in January and are just getting to closing makes me sad. i am not a patient person when it comes to Disney - the excitement is just too overwhelming.

what resale team did you use and financing agent, if you dont mind sharing? just trying to figure out exactly how long i am going to have to wait to be "official"

definitely a long shot there... Let us know. I might call in for my old Disney Visa. I only got a Lion King DVD for mine!

We actually put in our first offer in January before the resale changes, but that seller never would sign the paperwork (divorce situation), so I think we put in this offer in early February (right after the resale announcement). It has seemed like a long time! I'm very eager to make our reservations!! I'm just hoping we get our membership number this month! :) I think I have mentally planned our next 5 years of vacations!!! As for the Visa, the main reason I asked is that I think I saw on another thread a while back that someone else had this happen and got the current offer when they called. It makes me wish I had waited, but you can never predict when these offers will come. We were at Disney over Christmas, so I guess that trip put us on a marketing list for Chase.

if you didnt sign up for a Disney Visa in your spouse's name, maybe you could do that and get the $200 offer.

If your credit isn't an issue, you can have multiple Disney Visa's in your name. Just apply again with the new offer!

This is what we did. We have had our card for several years, with no bonus when we applied so I applied yesterday with the new offer. Can't hurt and all they can do is tell me no or send me another card :). I figured if they don't want me to apply they wouldn't keep sending me the offers!

This happened to us a few weeks ago. We received a letter a few days ago that they are looking into it and then yesterday we received a letter saying we were getting the $200 credit.

how are these offers coming - mail only, email? if we just go online and open a new account will we get it - or do we need to put in pin code?

We only have received them by mail. You also have an invitation number on the application that you need to input if applying online. I believe that offer is only for the the person on tha mail app. It wouldn't hurt to call them and see if you can get the offer.

So, now I'm curious. :upsidedow Is it ok that you have an obsession or ok that your DH knows it? :yay: Either way, we have a 12 step program here on the DIS DVC boards, but it will only increase it, since most of the steps involve giving into addonitis :cool1: :rotfl:. However, you are on the right track with getting a Disney Visa...just because it's Disney. :thumbsup2

In truth, I don't think the rewards program is that great on it, and it may be a better value to collect points on another card to subsidize airfare or get Visa gift cards that can be used anywhere (at WDW, offsetting bills/holiday gifts to allow more disposable income for trips, etc).

I say this, since it may be easier to dump the card if they say no. I keep mine as a backup to my AMEX, since some merchants don't accept The Card. It is kind of fun to pull out Mickey & gang and give it to the hippster behind the register then wait for their reaction or throw down the Mouse while paying for a business lunch ;)

That's how I got my own. There was something about paying $25 of the MF of DVC. :goodvibes

Good news...we got the word yesterday that our closing was complete!! I can make a reservation (hopefully) next week for our December trip! Sounds like there is a chance we can take advantage of the $200 offer...I'll keep my fingers crossed! As far as my "obsession"... My dh has been very patient! I feel that addonitis is most likely in my future!!
