Disney Visa Debit Card from Chase

Watch for when they offer $200 credit for signing up & first purchase with the no annual fee Visa .
That and the $50 OBC for paying for DCL cruise are the only real benefits I have
had with using the card.
1 percent back on Disney Purchases is sad as it is the same as any other purchase.
You would think they would reward Disney purchases slightly better than other purchases.
Also advance booking when some promos are on sale , but no $ advantage .

I think you meant the Disney Rewards Visa Card with no annual fee.
Will look out for $200 sign up bonus offer. Thanks for the heads up! :goodvibes
I agreed. They should offer more discount towards Disney purchases since it's a Disney credit card.

The $200 Disney Gift Card is for new accounts that sign up for the PREMIER addition (that gives you select 2% -including Disney purchases- and has a $49 annual fee).

The no annual fee card (1% across the board) has a $50 Disney Gift Card bonus for new accounts.

Both qualify for $50 on board credit when PIF.

At least, this was the special running as of November when I signed up for my own Premier. That $200 is going to be very handy for park tickets

Which reminds me. Can I hijack this thread for a minute? I'm trying to tell the best way to utilize my rewards and 0% financing for our Land&Sea coming up.

PIF date is Feb 19 for the cruise, and I intend to add tips as well. I'm also going to throw all the rewards and gift cards I have presently and keep the amount financed as low as possible.

However, we will be in the parks on May 3rd and at this point, I'm thinking we are going to do 2 day Park Hoppers + WaterPark Fun tickets. The total is about $570 for the tickets. I understand that if I purchase them ahead of time, I can also get them on the no interest finance plan.

So do I need to add them in on Feb 19, or can I wait longer and make them their own 'vacation' closer to the date? By then, I will have about 2 months more rewards to take off of them (including the 2% for the rest of the PIF for the cruise) and then I will get even longer for the 6 months interest free.

Does anyone know if I have to include the tickets into my cruise package, or if I can order them separately and about how far in advance I need to do this in order to qualify them under the 6 months same as cash? And how I go about doing so (ie calling a number, ordering tickets online?)

Any help you can offer would be appreciated. I would appreciate not having to cover the entire tix + cruise in Feb since I don't really need the tix until early May, and then I can hold out the free financing longer on the tickets and even apply a few more rewards for them as it gets closer...?

They do not have to be paid together. I have been making payments on both of our upcoming cruises and just paid one in full and all of those payments qualify for the 6 months no interest. I will be adding gratuities and $$ to our onboard account a few days before we sail and that too will qualify for the 6 month deal. We are planning on at least one day at the parks and will order tix from the official Disney site and those should be 6 months no interest also. HTH

Be cautious if you are considering opening a new account with Chase to get this debit card. They definitely DO charge a monthly fee for checking accounts unless you maintain a pretty nice balance or a direct deposit.

I have one and will likely get rid of it because we have used none of the "perks"...

Interesting. I didn't realize they actually had a DEBIT version. I hate debit cards and only use their credit lines...because I don't like to open my accounts up to the public. I only use my ATM card for my own bank... good to know, though...

The main reason I keep my Chase account is for Disney. I like being able to get money out from the ATMs there if I want/need it, and using the discount that the Disney Debit gives for the bigger souvenir purchases is nice.

Again, nicer when I got rewards from it, but oh well!

As a general rule I don't get credit cards that carry an annual fee. I decided to make the exception for Disney/Chase Premier card because

1) I do spend enough on the double points purchases (Disney, Groceries, Gas, Restaurants) to pay the annual fee and still be several hundred dollars ahead

2) I can use my rewards points to pay for my airfare (which only earns 1% vs 2% for Disney purchases). I know lots of people like the thought of using Disney Rewards to pay for Disney stuff, but I like earning the 2% on those purchases.

I just opened a checking account for the debit card. I will use direct deposit so it will save us any checking fees.

I changed our WDW stay (2 days at the poly) and this saved us $800.00!

I would not use this for the DCL OBC because I get more than 10 times that OBC using Costco.
