Disney vacation savings account

We have open DVA over 120 days . We used it pay for our last December dining plan and annual dues . Yesterday we could not log in and called help desk , they told us that someone will call us. Hope they can figure out what is wrong . Have a magical day to everyone.

Didn't know you could pay annual dues from the DVA. Thats good news!!

Just like the Disney website has glitches, so does the DVA website. Probably just a matter of timing when you get errors like that. When I get errors, I keep trying til it goes thru or wait until after hours to do it.

Shortly afterwards it said the website was down for maintenance. It worked today though, and I'm now that much closer to my goal! It is actually amazing for me because of how fast it has gone to saving money. I used to be horrible at saving money but since I started the account, not only am I saving money for Disney, but I'm also spending less money with what I have left over, so it is a win-win for me!

I was too but I am lucky enough to get Disney gift cards at 22 percent off which is incredible. Problem is I hate having thousands of dollars on them sitting in a drawer. What if I got robbed what if they didn't work etc. after 7 years of rolling the dice with no problems then 20 off 1000 seemed like a no brainer. I love entering my cards immediately knowing they work etx. I have 5k in there now and plan to call my ABD trip in so to trigger a 100 free dollars. No brainer fir us gift card buyers

HOW on earth are you able to get 22% off gift cards? I know that might be a trade secret, so I apologize....Apparently there isn't such a thing as PM anymore on DIS?

My secret is because I live in Western PA and am able to earn unlimited fuel perks when buying gas. Currently I have 17.89 off a gallon! LOL! My mickey math shows me that if buy Target gift cards using my chase rewards visa during double fuel perks during the month that chase is 5% bonus gas or grocery , THEN use these target gift cards on line to buy Disney gifcards FROM target with the red card set as the default payment yet you really pay with Target giftcards - it equals out to 22% discount (considering the free fuel, 5 percent cash back from chase and 5% discount for redcard at Target). DID NOT Say it was easy but I have saved THOUSANDS....

We opened ours a few weeks ago to save for our DD's high school graduation trip in 2017. We are doing the auto payments every 2 weeks and will add Disney gift cards we get with Ebates checks and extra money we can save here and there. It's a good fit for us, and the $20 return for each $1000 spent was the best offer we could find. We hope to have as much success with it as others have!

I'm glad I got an alert about this thread because I wanted tell someone about $25 DVA credit card charge being coded as travel on my Barclays Arrival credit card. Redeemed 2500 points for $25 travel credit. Certainly better than $12.50 statement credit.

A similar but slightly different method . . .

This only works if you have a long time to accumulate gift cards and also use lots of gas. You accumulate gift cards slower this way, so its important to look not just at % saved, but total dollars saved on your trip . . .

Buy $100 Visa or Amex pre-loaded (not loadable) gift card @ Kroger during 4x promo (paying $5.95 fee) = get 424 fuel points
Use the $100 Visa you just bought to purchase $100 Target gift card = get 400 fuel points
Total fuel points = 824
That equates to 82.4 cents off 35 gallons of gas (take fuel cans to get max gallons permitted) = $28.84 in savings
You must deduct the fee paid on your Visa card above, which reduces savings to $22.89
Additional 6% Amex Blue Preferred Savings on initial $105.95 Visa gc purchase = $6.35
Total savings = $29.24 = 29.24%
For those who don't use the Amex Blue Preferred, savings = 22.89%
Note: I use my Amex Blue Preferred card on groceries and gift cards at Kroger until I reach the $6,000 limit. Then I use the Amex Blue Everyday for 3% off. (We spend a lot on groceries in this house!)
Then I take the Target gift cards and purchase Disney gift cards online at Target.com for an additional 5% off. Total savings = 27-28%

Don't forget to go through mypoints.com for the target purchases to get points toward gift cards. I have 8000 points ready to be redeemed by adding that step.

Some are reporting going through Ebates when making the Target purchase and getting 2% cash back even when purchasing with a Target gift card. That is not supposed to work, but apparently it does. If that is the case, I think it works out to a greater % back versus mypoints.com. I'll have to experiment and give it a try next time.

I was just able to buy mine through ebates! Every little bit helps!

For my next trip, I will have to try it again. Would much rather have cash back :)

How are you able to get disney gift cards at 22% off?

I haven't read all the way through this thread, so I'm not sure if it has been mentioned. But, you can get $150 worth of Disney gift cards at Sam's (if you're a member, of course) for $142.98, or a $7.02 savings per $150. Works out to almost a 5% discount. Free shipping if you buy them online.

I can't ever get cashback through ebates either when I buy the gift cards at Target. Mypoints works for me though.
I just tried ebates again the other day on a smaller $100 gift card order and I got nothing again! So, I am sticking with mypoints. It's better than nothing!

I'm a big fan of the DVA but just be warned. If you want to withdrawl the money for any reason it will go back to whatever form of payment you used. So If you put enter your Disney Gift cards in the account make sure you save the cards because all money goes back to its original form of payment. Also I made the mistake of switching to another bank and when I was pulling money out it was going to my original banks checking account.....Just food for thought!!!

Anyone else having problems with DVA and Disney gift cards. I bought 7 $50 gift cards at Target and only 5 went on my DVA account. After hours on the phone with Target, Target says that it's probably DVas fault. I called DVA this morning and told them that they drained 2 $50 gcs but didn't give me credit. They said this has been happening and to give it a few days.

It was a little glitchy today. I entered 4 cards, and 2 had errors stating they couldn't confirm the amounts. Retried and they went through fine. Maybe try to put them in again?
