Disney Transportation Help

As far as which resort busses run and how long it runs depends on which park it is. The resort busses run until the park is cleared which is usally no more than about 90 minutes after the park closes. The AK, Epcot and DHS TTC bus interpark bus shutdown at different times, depending on when the host park closes. Your generally guarunteed a park to park bus up until 1000ish from Epcot only.(Epcot is open till 9, except for 2 weeks out of the year when it goes to 1000.) Unless DHS is open later. Then DHS picks up the route.

The monorail and the resort boats are the same way. The express monorail, will shutdown about 90 minutes after the MK closes, and the resort and Epcot about 1030.The boats out of the MK only run a certain length of time after MK closes. Usually about an hour I think.

Is this the same in the morning? When do the park busses start running?

Here are a couple that I am curious about finding the fastest way:

CBR to Poly for an 8:30 ADR at 'Ohana (bus to MK then monorail to Poly?)
DHS to Contemporary for CM Lunch (any way other than bus?)
Contemporary to CBR after lunch (walk/monorail to MK then bus?)
CBR to Fort Wilderness for the Campfire thing (not a clue)

Thanks to the responses on mine. I did fail to mention the first one, CBR to Poly is for an 8:30 am ADR - and then off to Epcot.

One of the posters mentioned the boat from MK to the Poly as an option. Do those run that early in the morning? That is a "guys" breakfast, and my son would probably think it was cool to ride the boat from MK to the Poly. We will probably then ride the monorail from the Poly to Epcot (via TTC) and meet the girls after their princess breakfast.

Pretty much. The resort busses start running around 630-7 am for the breakfasts. Each day a different park opens early, so that part of the time changes also. If the MK is early open park, then the busses will concentrate on that park, until about 745 8 am.Then the buses go back to their respective parks.

Thats ok and your welcome. The boats start runnung usually about 730ish.Could be a little later.
I am going on property in the very near future to check the times on the boats, and a few things to update the tranportation map I am working on.

Great info!!!!!

I am also new to the Disney trans..............

I found this place useful...........

It gives a rough estimate on xfers using Disney....
Very, very, very rough. See grimley1968's accurate assessment of that site.

Is this the same in the morning? When do the park busses start running?
Buses start running to the Magic Kingdom about 6:30 AM, and to the other parks about 7 AM. They run less frequently than when the parks are open or about to open - figure maybe every half hour, so plan accordingly.

Here's my list...and a huge thank you in advance for taking the time to help me out!

WL to FW (for campfire) then FW to Pop Boat, then (sorry) ask a CM how to get to the campfire.

Beach Club to Pop With Epcot-eligible ticket (either base pass and you were in Epcot already, or hopper pass used for any other park that day), walk or boat to International Gateway, walk through Epcot, exit through front, proceed to bus area. Without park access, walk or boat to DHS, then bus to Pop.

Pop to the Poly (9:25am ADR) Bus to MK, then monorail or launch to Poly

Pop to Contemporary (7:20 am ADR). Bus to MK, then walk or monorail to Contemporary. Ask the driver for assistance when you board the bus. It's possible, but nowhere near absolute, that she/he will drop you at the resort. Be at the bus stop by 6:30

Pop to GF (Pirate Adventure 9:30am) then GF to DtD Bus to MK, then monorail or launch to GF; then bus to DtD.

To get to DtD from each park? Bus, monorail, or boat (as appropriate) to intermediary resort, then bus or boat (as available) to Downtown Disney.

I think that's it...thanks again!

They start at 6:30 for early ADRs. I know some will say (hi kaytieeldr) that only the MK bus starts that early, but I've taken the bus to AK at 6:30. It makes no difference what day it is, emh or not, they start at the same time.

Here's my list...and a huge thank you in advance for taking the time to help me out!

WL to FW (for campfire) then FW to Pop

Beach Club to Pop

Pop to the Poly (9:25am ADR)

Pop to Contemporary (7:20 am ADR).

Pop to GF (Pirate Adventure 9:30am) then GF to DtD

To get to DtD from each park?

I think that's it...thanks again!

1. I would take the boat over and then get directions to the campfire. Head to MK and get a bus to POP there.

2. You could get to DHS and then hop on the bus to POP there, but I would take a cab...under $10 when we did it a year or so ago. Much faster.

3. Bus to MK, then boat or monorail to Polynesian.

4. Bus to MK (be out at the bus stop by 6:30ish), then walk over to CR (8 mins) along the sidewalk.

5. Bus to MK, then boat to GF, bus to DTD from GF.

There are no buses from the parks to DTD. You will have to head to a nearby resort to do that. From MK, I would go to the CR and use their bus. From Epcot or DHS I would walk or boat to YC/BC, BW or S/D and take their bus to DTD.
From AK, I would head to AKL and get the bus.

Many suggest taking the bus to SSR from any park, and then walking over. I find that to be excessive walking.

I used to work in Disney busses and give me a little bit and I ll post something that will be easier to read and figure out for on property. In the mean time Ill answer your questions:

CBR to Poly. You didnt mention am or pm. However. Fastest way would be bus to DHS then transfer to Poly bus or option 2 bus to MK then resort monorail.

DHS to Contemp. Bus or taxi.

Contemp to CBR fastest way is walk to MK then bus to CBR. Option 2, bus to DHS from Contemp, then transfer busses to CBR.

CBR to Ft. Wilderness. Fastest way is bus to DHS, then transfer to the Wilderness Lodge bus. At the lodge transfer to the Boone or Crockett (they both do the entore Fort)Option 2 is the Ft Wilderness bus.I believe they drop off at where the Hoop De Doo is,(cant think of what the name is off hand) then youll have to transfer again to get to the trading post where the campfire actually is.

Same message as above:

1. Epcot to DTD (In particular Rainforest Cafe for part of our group and Planet Hollywood for the other)
Go out the back of Epcot at the International Gateway,to the resort boats, get off at the first resort(Swan Dolphin, Yacht, Beach, or Boardwalk, then transfer to the DTD bus.
Option 2, go to the bus lot, find the first bus in the loadzone, get off at the first stop, then transfer. OKW, or Saratoga Springs are the closest resorts to DTD.Get off at the Marketplace stop.

2. Magic Kingdom to Chef Mickey's and back to Magic Kingdom
Take the resort launch from the park, to the Comtemporary, then take the resort monorail back. The resort monorail goes from the Comtemporary to the Mk then to Grand Flo.
Option 2. Walk to the Contemp then take the monorail back.

3. Animal Kingdom to Epcot

Direct bus both ways.

4. Magic Kingdom to Epcot
2 ways.Express Monorail to TTC Then transfer to the Epcot monorail.
Option 2. Take a bus to the CBR then transfer to Epcot bus.

5. Epcot to Animal Kingdom to Magic Kingdom
Direct bus from Epcot, to AK. From AK, take a resort bus to one of the MK resorts, (MK Poly or Grand Flo, then monrail)
Option 2, same as above except going from AK to MK, take the bus to TTC, then take the monrail.

6. Hollywood Studios to Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course then to Downtown Disney (Disney Quest)

DHS to WS. Take the All Star bus. I think they still hit WS on the way.If not, go to Coronado Springs then transfer to the BB bus.
I cant swear to it, but I think that there is a bus from DHS that stops there on its way to Epcot or AK also.

When you are at your resort, there is a marked bus, for each of the parks, and DTD, and both waterparks.
I guess it has been awhile since you drove a Disney bus, Boone and Crocket have been gone from FW for a few years. The easiest way to get to the campfire show will be to take a bus to DHS or Epcot, whichever shows up first really. From the park, get on the FW OR WL bus, again whichever comes first(if they are a shared bus get off at first stop). When you arrive at FW(if this is your first stop) board the Yellow internal bus to the 1400 loop(Big Bear Little Bear), walk through the loop to the left, the campfire show is right past the loops comfort station(can't miss it). If you arrive at WL first, get off and wait for the bus to the Fort(yes there is a bus from WL to FW), once on the FW bus stay on till the second stop, this should be for the 600 and 800 loops, there is a trail to the left of the(600 side) that goes to the campfire show.

Just wanted to confirm the routes for our Resort ADR's:

All Star Sports to GF and Contempory:

-Bus to MK and monorail to the resort(s). I am allowing 60 minutes in transit. I'd like my grand daughter to have an opportunity to ride the monorail.

Our ADRs are at ~ 7PM and am wondering if we could watch Wishes after dinner and then hop on the monorail/bus back to ASSports?

Thanks so much, I haven't been to WDW since my daughter was a kid!

Its been a few years since I have been in there, but it sounds like the bus route is close to the same, just the name changed. It used to be a color code in there, then they did away with it in favor of the Boone and Crockett, and it sounds like its back. Its also why I am going to go on property in the next few days, to confirm a few things for a transporttation map I am working on.

Yep thats pretty much the fastest way. You prob wont need that much time, though it is a good idea to plan a head.
Hopping the monorail after Wishes wont be a problem, although you can expect a line when you get back to the MK to catch your bus.

The quickest way to the CR from MK is to just walk it...about 8 mins. It takes the monorail that long to get there, and that doesn't include the time you'll spend walking up to the monorail platform or waiting. But...after you eat dinner, you can take the monorail to the Polynesian and watch the fireworks from there...very nice view. Then, back onto the monorail and go to MK to get your bus back to your resort.
For the GF...bus to MK, (I would be at the bus stop by 6:00ish), then monorail to GF...takes about 20 mins from MK, but you said you wanted to ride the monorail. Or you can take the boat from MK..GF is the first stop. The boat dock at the GF is another decent spot to watch Wishes from. Then, you can take the boat back to the MK..nice ride. But it will go to the Polynesian after the GF and then back to MK.

FW buses 101

3 basic routes, 2 main stops.....
Yellow goes between Outpost(front) and Settlement(HDDR, marina) along the outer edge loops 300/500 1400(path to campfire) 1500 1600-1900.

Orange(this route has recently changed so I may be off a little) goes between Outpost and Settlement through the center and now through the cabin loops...
600/800(also path to campfire) 900/1000/Meadows trading post 1100/1200/1300 then through Peacock Pass(cabins) stopping at 2200 2600 and 2800

Purple between Outpost and Settlement going through peacock pass and also
2200 and group camping.

Once you know what color your bus is you only need to know whether you are heading toward Outpost or Settlement and board the right bus, they will be labeled Yellow Outpost, Yellow Settlement ect.

Orange Settlement also goes out to WL after leaving Settlement, when it returns to FW from WL it is now Orange Outpost..
As I mentioned earlier the orange route has recently changed, this change has the bus now going through the canbin loops, where it didn't before, to allow easier access for those in cabins to the main pool, trading post and campfire show.

All park buses(except MK) and DTD leave from Outpost, the only direct route from FW to MK is the boat.

Hope that helps, and saves you sometime when putting together you transportation info.

Man, I knew there was a reason I've never stayed in FtW before!! Yikes.

Man, I knew there was a reason I've never stayed in FtW before!! Yikes.

It's not really that bad, since you only have to worry about the bus that serves your "loop". If, for example, you are in the 900 loop you will leave from the bus stop at your loop and take either the bus to Outpost or Settlement, you need not even worry about yellow or purple since orange is the only one going to your loop. Plus when you check in you get a color coded map that makes things very easy if you take a minute to look at it.

Here is a copy of a slightly older map(it doesn't have the most recent change to the orange route)

For those of you who have absolutely no idea of what we are talking about, heres a real short version.
Ft Wilderness, is basically a circle that is split in half. There used to be 3 busses that served it. There was the Boone, which started at TTC then hit the WL then went to the settlement(which was the stop I could not remember) then went thru the sites and out the back.
There was the Crockett, which came into the Ft first, then went down the center to the settlement then out to the WL then TTC.
Then there was 2 internal busses, that all they did was drive thru the Ft and never leave.
In the mid 90s, they did away with the internal, and they combined the internal with the Boone and Crockett, so that they both hit all of the stops, just in a different order.

Now, sounds like they basically split the buses back to what they were pre 1995ish, and renamed them colors.(woth one or 2 modifications)
I am thinking that the Disney motto lately is if its not broke, we can probably fix that.

It does. Right now I am putting the finishing touches on a basic map to go from say MK to DHS. All you would do is scan across the top to the MK column, then come down to the DHS cloumn and read. Its really basic, and I know that there is more than one way to get from point a to point b, but to keep it simple, I tried to keep it with as few options as possible. I hope to have it up in a few.Ill be making a second resort to resort in the next few days.
In the near future, I am going to add, the water parks, and the mini golf courses.

Ok try this Transportation map out.

If no one has an issue with this, Ill see if I can get it posted as a sticky.
Heres how to use it:
On the top rows are listed the parks. Scan over until you see your park.
The vertical columns list the parks and resorts only for now.Once you have found your park on the top row, scan down to match it with your destination. There is a brief discrition in the box to tell you what to do in no more then 2 steps.
Before someone mentions another way here or you can do this, I am trying to keep this a KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)map.Theres more than one way to go from point a to point b,but this would be the recomended if you asked a transportation cm.Itll get fine tuned in the future as well and more specific.

In the mean time I ll set up a resort to resort map with water parks and the minigolf courses.(the horizontal line wouldnt let me go further out on the same map.) I am open to any and all feed back.

As a general rule operating hours:
The first busses are around 715-730. Last bus from that park to a resort is about 90 minutes from park close. Interpark busses vary at the time of year.
Monorails run about the same start times.End times for the resort and Epcot beams are about 90 minutes after the LAST park closes.
Watercraft run about same start times, and shutdown about an hour after the park close, have to verify the Epcot resort boats though.
