Disney Stores On the Block - Talks continue w/TCP

Some of you are very humorous.
As a cast member I highly doubt we will receive anymore discounts at the parks.
However, not as many cast members will hit the door running like you think. First reason is that many that I know and assume many others have booked vacations for the future. They will lose the discounts already promised to them if they quit. Second reason is alot of cast members are collectors and seem to want to see if collections will be brought back.

Those that don't understand the sell missed the fact that Disney is making their money in licensing. That is why they will sell the stores. The stores have actually been money makers in the past kind of like the UK stores. But, why would they shell out all that money to make a little profit when they can just sell rights and make alot of profit?

I agree that management has been horrible and still is. I hope they actually fix the problem and get rid of some of these people. Oh and as far as Company D... I doubt that discount will stay. I do believe that it will be a disaster for Company D though. Considering that most of their business is Disney Store cast members.

I think those of us who actually like Disney look forward to this. It may be a step in the right direction for fans of Disney. Hopefully they will bring back magic to this store and even if they don't it was clear that Disney didn't want to. Disney Store cast members have been treated like second class cast members for awhile now, especially last year. They truly left DS cast members out in the cold along time ago. Maybe this company can restore pride back into people who started to work for Disney because of a love for the Disney.

P.S. No more having to answer questions about why things are cheaper at DisneyStore.com yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw.

As a Disney Store castmember in the past couple of weeks I have seen about 7 really great castmembers leave WHY?, because they are fed up with seeing a once beautiful wonderful store go to squat. These castmembers didn't work here for the money they did it for 1 reason, THE LOVE OF DISNEY. It was such a magical wonderful place to work for no matter how tired they were from working their other jobs, they came to work because of the love and the fun they had. I think it is at total disgrace at what the Disney Stores have turned in to. I remember before I became a castmember years ago my wife and I used to go every weekend to the Disney Store and spend alot of money on housewares, collectibles you name it (and alot of you out there know what I am talking about and how the store was) and this was our little bit of Disney World when we couldn't be at the park itself. This is why I got a job at the Disney Store it wasn't for the discounts(even though it helped) but it was because you could work with someone who holds the love of Disney in their hearts to the highest standards as much as you do and that is why the Disney Store was unlike any other store. It hurts seeing something you hold so near and dear to your heart that you gave your all to every single second you cherished working there reduced to the equivalent of a 99 cent store. No matter what The Children's Place does, and maybe they have good intentions for the store it will NEVER EVER have that magical experience the Disney Stores once had. The castmembers that left were not only hardworking wonderful castmembers but wonderful people who not only made our guests experiences magical, but they also made my experiences working with them magical too. I will miss them dearly. I truly believe the individuals that were hired to oversee the operations of the Disney stores had absolutely no clue as to what our guests had wanted(Yes they had the princess line), but what about the adult consumer who wanted collectibles, watches, ties, more adult apparel, housewares etc. Instead of asking a castmember who knows what he or she likes and what the consumer likes, upper management took it upon themselves to remove the above mentioned items and put in the merchandise they thought would sell, BAD MOVE. It's a shame, it's disgusting and it is just plain wrong what they have done to the stores. all in all I as a Disney castmember/fanatic am out the door to. Sorry so long, thanks for taking the time to read my frustration/reply

According to another thread on this board, the sale is definately going to happen. I found the poll a little interesting because I'm not sure that I would have been able to stay around with all of the adversity.

I remember before I left, people were always asking when my store was closing and there hadn't even been an announcement about closure. That was in 2001. I can only imagine what it is like today.

I don't think the discount percentage is that big a deal, but the theme park discounts and (especially) the silver passes going away would definately cause me to think twice about staying.

I have worked retail on and off for years, including Disney. All of the stores offered 20% discount, with special discounts during the year. So CP will offer at least that. The park perks are gone, the best we can hope for is discounted tickets. It is still iffy if the 4 tickets a year will still be offered, doubt it, because they would have to give tham to CP's employees also.
