Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

While the Swiss mfr says each bench is designed to carry 5 adults, Disney is widely considering 8 adults to be a full load, because Americans as a whole are likely to be larger than Europens, AND because most Americans have a cultural bias against sitting really close to other people -- we also need more "personal space", as it were.
For that reason, CM's would not need to gauge weight, only size. The NFL linebackers mentioned above each will take up quite a lot of space even on the platform.

I'm beginning to wonder if, if all the cars have character wraps, that might be used to help with loading. How many? Mermaid. How many? Ducks. How many? Star Wars.
For the record, the seats are going to be 90 inches wide, which is 18 inches per person, or a little bit more than most aircraft seats. But I agree, I doubt they will pack them with 10 adults very often at all.

I hope you are right. 18" is plenty when there are armrest like a bus or plane. I would hate to be packed in with larger adults (I am one, 6'1" 215lbs) and having to sit touching hips. That would be too weird for me.

I think it is more the bump for SWGE - but those rooms on the Skyliner that have that more direct access to DHS will likely see more of an increase than other resorts (by insuspect everything will go up some)

That said, over $200 some nights for POP? Crazy talk
i just looked and next month during Easter weekend (so before both the Skyliner and SWGE) Pop standard rooms are $209/night!!

:crazy2: Hope we’llbe able To afford to stay at our favourite resort a year from now!

This could be Skyliner, SWGE or a combo of both.
I am guessing more SWGE. As I assume that avalability of rooms have gone down starting Nov.. If the resorts are “empty” as they have been, then they would not have increased that much just because of a skyliner.

I guess they yield their rates based on ...maybe booking on the weekend as opposed to the weekdays?
I just looked again today and the rates are back to the previous prices ???

Decent wind today but quite stable. When they stop it it sways some though.

I don't think waiting for cabins will be a big deal. Just like it isn't a big deal for front/back row on the coasters. Yes, some people do it, but not nearly as many as at most parks. At Cedar Point some coasters have 15 trains worth of people waiting for the front and back rows. At Disney it is rare to see more than one trains worth waiting. I think a lot of this is because of how good Disney is at herding people, a lot of people won't ask.

On the gondolas, I think the answer will be no if it is more than one cabin or if there are people waiting behind you.

If you can't see the character from the inside I expect cabin request to be a 1-2 time thing.

Anyone with a really big monitor do a cabin count and extrapolate cabin storage capacity? Looks to be over 300 to me. The foreground barn looks to have 2 fewer supporting poles on the storage lines than the top barn does.

Is there another barn on the other line?
No other storage area has been seen. I'm suspecting that the 2 shorter rails in the south yard are for Pop/AoA, the 3 longer rails are for DHS, and the entire north yard is for Epcot. The 3 longer rails have been emptied during the DHS testing, except for 10-15 cabins which are probably in reserve. The 2 shorter rails were filled last, and the cabins on them appear to have been untouched during testing.

The landscape just looks blah right now. We had originally booked our June stay for here with waterview. After seeing the unplanned and ongoing construction work in CBR and , DH decided it was time to pick somewhere else.
Unplanned? This is all planned.

I would expect most of this work pictured to be done by June. It’s not major.

The close up pic also shows what appears to be a bus stop "white framing" on the left front of the main station, they have a road there that looks to be a bus loop.
Also, where are they going to station the rescue boats for POP and AOA ? :scared:

They are building a new dock on the lake. Permits were filled last fall I think.

I saw a note that the work being shown in these pictures is related to construction around evacuation for the gondola - I have to assume they knew they would need to do something for evac but maybe not the particulars until system was up
This is how I would read into it.

So even though the gondala's may be able to run before fall it might take that long for the safety and infrastructure to be in place.
