Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

Closer to 200, counting the ones spotted at CBR + the ones in the construction yard at AoA. It may well be over 200 by now; Magic In the Park saw flatbed trucks leaving the yard, so it appears that deliveries are ongoing.

My personal theory is that the cabins are being held in the construction yard until the north storage yard at CBR is finished.
That's good to know, I guess I missed a batch of them at some point.

And even if this was a sort of a concrete monorail extension, I still don't think it would be viewed as obtrusive (and could argue would add "magical" value). Kudos to Disney for the Gondolas and innovating/nostalgic value.

Agreed, since that's already inside EPCOT anyway.

Well, Martin has now effectively killed my gondola dreams. No solid info on opening, but he's definitely leaning toward these opening later than May now. This is new as of this morning. He's just saying "more work needs to be done."
Man, that's a bummer. Busses it is then!

Whenever I start to see people complaining about the ugly poles and sight-lines I like to post this picture again...

Also - I've been one of the ones also saying "I can't believe 6 more months", but lets remember, this is only one line that is being tested. They are unlikely to open the whole thing until all three lines are on-line. 6 more months is completely possible, and I think 3-4 months is the bare minimum at this stage.

Well to be fair just because they didn't care in the past (at least in regards to the poles) doesn't mean they can't care now lol. I'll still wish for some key poles a bit of theming and that would be nice even if unrealistic and I don't really care what they did (or in this case didn't do) in the past :P:D

*No offense meant mostly joking manner :)

This is a well-tested system that's been implemented and in use in many places around the world. It's not a new built-from-scratch ride system. I don't see the need for 3 months of testing. Which is not to say Disney won't do it, but it doesn't seem necessary.

And I see nothing to prevent them from opening the lines individually, so long as CBR is sufficiently complete to handle Guests safely. It's usually better to start small and resolve unforeseen issues rather than go big from the start. Which is not to say Disney will do it that way, but there's nothing to prevent it.

ETA: When Disney Transport tried to switch to a new automated bus dispatch system all at once, the results were disastrous. After that, they've rolled out changes one hub a time.

We are coming down in August (8/14-21) and wondering if anyone has any insight on a *possible/estimate/rumored* opening date for these? Apologies if it was talked about in one of the 278 pages :D

Based on what he is saying, I think whatever is keeping from opening until Fall is something that we just aren't aware of. I think they could have the station construction, testing and training done well before that, but there is some else that is going to tie it up.

I wonder how many more people will be flocking to resorts on the Skyliner route when it opens...it may be harder to get a room. IDK...thoughts?

I was booked June 14th-23rd CBR originally, when the most recent discounts came out, (and waaay too much overtime at work) we chose to move to Poly. What I did notice is I have checked for CBR availability out of boredom. Since then there has shown no availability even at full price (checked from a different computer, not signed into MDE) unless the stay is shortened to 4 nights and different arrival day within those dates. It does make me question if CBR was overbooked for our stay though.

Interesting question. I wonder if they are in heavy demand already? I suspect the moderate CBR wasn't one to book up early but maybe that will change. Pop and AoA? I thought they were already sought after value resorts.
