Are there other Disney Senior Citizens out there that love WDW? One of my hobby is planning Disney trips. Usually some of the family tags along and that is great. We are going Jan 29-FEb 5 at POR this time. MY 9 yr odl DGS is as excited as I am. MY DH and DD just go along with it I think but they love it there too. Would love to hear what other oldies think

Yep Senior citizen and a Disney lover. Going to spend our 50th wedding anniversary there. Only 29 more days till we leave. Going to be fun.:yay::banana::banana::banana::banana:

not quite seniors but...this year I'm spending my husband's 60th, our 20th wedding anniversary at WDW.

Next year, my mom and I will celebrate our 50th anniversary (i.e. my 50th birthday!) at WDW as well.

Just retired from airline. Been going to WDW since it opened. With family, then with kids only, now solo some. I went solo in June and will be there Oct. 1st. Daughter is leaving Dkids and DH home, she is running the Wine & Dine Half Relay. :cheer2: We are going to MNSSHP. Did MVMCP last year, what fun. Just because we're seniors does not mean we are slowing down.party:

ok, this is very weird. I am 52 and have a child I take to Disney. I am on SSDI so qualify for all things seniour.

not quite a senior, but getting there.
DD took me to CRT for breakfast last winter for my 60th birthday.
Rode Tower of Terror on my 50th birthday for the 1st time.

I'm a senior Disney Lover, I make 5-6 trips a year.
I'm a DVC member since 2002 at BCV and stay there or OKW most of the time.

While I like going solo, I really enjoy the times with my 2 sons and their families.
My 5 Granddaughters, ages 7 to 14 have been to WDW at least 10 times and all love Disney as much as I do. And each will have a part of it for the next 30+ years.

When I go alone I enjoy playing golf, going to the parks, sampling different restaurants on and off site, and just hanging out at the resorts.
I too love planning all the trips and generally have at least 3 or 4 in the works at any given time.

It would be great to meet up with other seniors that just love Disney.

Would love to plan a senior Dis Meet sometime! This year I will be celebrating my 65th birthday at Chef Mickey. My college room mate was just in WDW for what she called her "medicare card birthday" too.

Just came back from celebrating my 60th in WDW:dance3:The past few years I was fortunate enough to go on about every 3 months. Can't get enough of the magic:laughing:

We will be celebrating my 56th birthday with mickey and friends. First a 3 night DCL cruise on which I will turn 56 and then 5 days at WDW for Food and Wine, (and more wine) festival. My 64 year old sister and her husband will be meeting us at WDW to help keep the party going. We still go for the rides and adventures, but always enjoy the TS restuarants as well. Our DVC membership continues until 2057, so I plan on turning 100 at Disney! Lots of memories yet to be made before that milestone.
Disney should have Mature Adults Days at the parks, for seniors to be MAD at Disney in a good way. Until then a DIS 55+ meet would be enjoyable.

We are Disney seniors too. Still planning our 3rd and 4th trip for 2010 and
my 65th birthday trip on the Disney Dream for April 10, 2011..

I will have my 65th birthday dinner at Chef Mickeys with my family and my favorite characters:cool1:My college roommaTE just had her 65th on an Illuminations Cruise so we are all in this together...the young at heart!!!

65 here and totally enjoyed my nostalgia trip to DL/CA this past Jan (solo); go to WDW now as an NC resident. Last year (age 64) finally bought some DVC points. Earlier this evening was talking with DD (age 40) about possibly going next summer, and she was wondering about our Disney addiction, because we've had some miserable days there with heat, crowds, etc. but always love going back. It's been really hot here in western NC this year and I don't have whole house AC, because I've never needed it before, so I'm figuring I can take a summer break in LBV/WDW and at least have AC next year!

Part of the reason I bought the DVC points was that I can go there and just enjoy being in the resort and use the busses if I can't keep up with DD and DGS at the parks as I get older and slower. I used to be the one with the stamina, but not so much any more, altho I do still enjoy going to Disney. DD was asking why since it seems kind of unquantifiable (there are lots of negatives -- high cost, not great food, weather issues, crowds and bad behavior, etc.) -- I think it's the imagination and creativity, as well as it being in our blood for so long. I never cease to be impressed by the creativity and intelligence of the parks' scenery and attractions (but we're not really thrill ride people, altho DGS is starting to be). And, so far, it still seems like a safe place to go, always important (given the huge number of visitors, bad incidents still seem to be really rare). And it's still a lot cleaner than some other amusement places (altho maybe a little slippage due to the economic shifts that are affecting us all).

I could list even more reasons not to be a Disney park fan, but I will always be one (and, yes, I know, my ashes can't be scattered there, darn!).

I will be celebrating by 60th birthday (that is hard to write!!!) in September at WDW. My brother is celebrating his 50th the day before mine. His kids and grandkids will be going for the first time so we are all excited.
We are staying at Kidani Village which will be really special for us.

I was hooked on Disney at my first visit to DL in 1965. Didn't get back until 1980 and over the years have increased the visits. Coming up on my 16th visit to WDW with 3 to DL. Since I bought into DVC I try to go a least once a year. My 60th b-day is coming in a year so I will need to plan a special trip for that. I too think it would be fun to meet other 'life experienced', Disney lovers.

I am thrilled to find this forum. I am 63 years old and just love WDW. My husband and I became DVC members in 2000. I lost him in 2003 and thought that I would give up my DVC membership. A friend suggested that I wait. I am glad that I did. However, it is getting harder and harder to find people to travel to WDW because friends are involved with their mates and own families. As far as my children, due to the economy, they cannot afford to come to WDW that often. I have been thinking of solo but am afraid. My husband and I enjoyed WDW so much, I am concerned on how I would fare through all the memories. Has anyone experienced this?

Anyway, I just love reading TR. I will be checking in every day.

5Mandys --I would encourage you to try a solo trip. Although I don't have the happy memories of going with a dear spouse, I think having those might add to your experience, albeit with some sadness at times. I have made several solo trips and really enjoy that time, with just being on my own schedule and doing things at my pace and as I want to. It's such a pretty and pleasant place (with occasional annoyances), and generally a safe environment, esp. if you stay at a DVC resort. You do have to cope with everything pretty much on your own, but most cast members, and other guests sometimes, are helpful. There are lots of hints and tips on the Solo travellers thread.

If you're uncomfortable eating alone (I had to learn to do that when I travelled for work), you can read, and it's a great time to write a journal. Several places you can share a table with other people and talk with them. You can chat with folks while waiting line, or not. It's also fun to chat with CM's, when they're in between whatever they're doing. And Photopass is great for a few photos of yourself in scenic spots.

Maybe try a short trip?
