Disney Premier Visa card- anyone upgrading?

so i guess if you only have to keep it for a year, and you get the bonus ($100 for me), it's worth it.... i dont know why i was depating so much, i guess you can always downgrade if it wasnt worth the fee for the extra % on gas, groceries, restaurants..... thanks for the info! i have a disney cruise to payoff in sept balance is 1500 so it that will be 2% at least i suppose!

Ugh- I wish I had known you could downgrade after a year

so are people still getting the 5x rewards? I've only been getting $50 offers in the mail to upgrade :sad2:

We got our second 5x rewards offer yesterday. We had got one a few weeks ago too. We were just holding off on accepting it since we are going to WDW the end of Aug and wanted to make sure that the gas for the drive down and back would fall into the promo period. The rewards we earn this time will be used on our May trip!

My billing cycle from May just closed on the 8th so I checked my statement online this morning and was happy to see I earned $75 in my first 5x month! Pretty darn good.

With my old card I would have just earned $30 so thats a huge difference and already pays for the upgrade fee.

Can't wait to see how many reward dollars I earn in the next 2 months.

I may hit the grocery and buy some Disney gift cards to stash for our last AP Disneyland trip in October. We could use those to pay for 4 days worth of food.

We just upgraded because we got the offer for $50 in Disney reward dollars. When the cards came in a few days ago, the lady we called to activiate the card said we will also get the 5% for 3 months. WE just got a bill for the end of the month but no 5%. I wonder if it was because that month only had a few days left when we got our new cards? It will be awesome to get the 5% and the $50!

We upgraded near the end of a billing cycle and didn't see the extra 3% until the next bill so don't fret yet! :)

A little annoyed with them today. I have text alerts set up for charges over $100. I got a text for a $500 charge that said Paypal. I thought someone hacked my Paypal account so I changed my password and removed the credit card. I then called Chase about the charge. While I was talking to her she said it was a charitable organization. I knew DH was talking about making a donation someplace so I asked him and he said that he had just sent the donation through. I told the CS rep the charge was OK and thank you.

WELL... I'm at the supermarket and the card is declined as closed. I called them and they said it was closed. I told them I didn't ask to have the account closed and wasn't told it was being closed. Now they say once an account is closed they can't reopen it. We are leaving Saturday for WDW and I have at least 10 automatic charges or places where my account number is saved that will now need to be changed. I'm waiting to hear back from the supervisor if they can get my account reopened. This is such a hassle right before vacation. They claim I will have the new cards tomorrow.

They reopened the account for 7 days so I can use it until the new cards get here. If they can reopen it for 7 days why oh why can't they just leave it open?

On my new card they billed my card immediately for the annual fee. It came out of the $100. On my existing card that I upgraded, I got no statement about when the annual fees would be billed or a warning that it would have to be kept open for a year.

Your problem may be that you have too much credit from Chase. Try calling the reconsideration line at 888-245-0625. You may need to move some credit on another Chase card to the Disney Visa in order to be approved. -- Suzanne

I had this very issue. My wife and I have been changing credit cards for various reasons. We are in the process of clearing up the cards. Chase wouldn't approve me for a mileage card with United but they approved my wife. Go figure.

I'm going to clear up a couple cards then have myself added as a co-applicant.

Thanks, This may be the case, since most of my credit cards are Chase cards..

In addition, I've been getting some new cards lately and canceling some old ones whose rewards aren't so meaningful to me.

First post on this forum :wave2:

So back in June the night before the ticket price increase we finally debated the upgrade to premier, but after being told it would take 3-5 days to take effect and wouldn't get the extra % for our passes we decided to pass on the upgrade.

Now we are about to book 4 Disney trips and realized the premier annual fee will pay for itself, so like many on here did the upgrade online and waited 10 days and called Chase and was told they didn't see the upgrade at all, so she took the info over the phone and told me the same 3-5 days to take effect. Well that was last night at 8pm, guess what I saw when I logged into Chase at 9am....upgrade was already there!!!! I am thrilled and called to verify but now kicking myself that I didn't do the upgrade in June and possibly missed out on 4% for my annual passes. Oh well live and learn! Off to book all my resort and dining reservations! WOOHOO!!!!

I am a current Disney Visa holder and have been so since 2007. Card is in good standing. I want to upgrade and should have months ago but kept putting it off. So I called today to see if there were any special incentives attached to my account to upgrade, like the 3% for 3 months or a $100 credit. Nothing.

So, I am considering canceling this account. Cashing out all my Disney points onto gift cards and then re-applying for the Disney Premier and hopefully get the $100 credit.

I just don't want to upgrade with no incentive when I have had friends who have gotten promotions and you know the minute I do I will get something in my email or mail with a promotion.

Thoughts on how often they offer promotion upgrades on current card holders. Planning a trip to DW in May and want to get as many points as we can!

Exactly what I am doing, there are plenty of cards out there with 5% rewards. I don't need a 1% return on this card, just because it's Disney. I can take my cash back from my freedom card and buy Disney Gift Cards if I want to.

How can you guys tell if you got the upgrade to the Premier or not? I don't see anything that says it is, but when I go into rewards, it talks like I have it, but nothing says your account=Premier

Try calling back and talking to someone else. I called a couple of days ago and the rep I talked to said the only offer was the one they were giving all regular disney visa card holders to upgrade to premier which is the 5% deal. I declined as I wanted the $100 deal my DH got.

The rep didn't even offer me the 5%. Just the regular 2% on gas and groceries.

What is the 5% offer?

5% back on the things you'd otherwise get 2% back like groceries, Disney purchases, etc. You got the extra 3% for 90 days from the day you upgraded.

Got it. I asked about that and was told there were not promotional offers attached to my card so I would get nothing as an incentive to upgrade. Kind of annoys me. Maybe I will call back and see what the next cm says.

When you log into your Chase account online, and click on Disney Reward Program, you should then see a heading about half way down the page that says Reward Program Details. After that mine says "Use your Disney's Premier Visa® Card for the everyday things you already do". After I saw that I called Chase and they verified for me. It took less than 24 hours for my account to change over.

Thanks! That is exactly what mine says. Haven't gotten any cards in the mail. I didn't realize it would be the same credit card number. I guess I can go ahead and book our WDW package then. I had been waiting to get the 5% on it.
