Disney Premier Visa card- anyone upgrading?

Ok, so I found out that you can't' get the signature card unless you already had it. So those of us who got the card before VISA signature came into existence, too bad, so sad. Well, you can apply for a new card.

Come on.

Actually, I was just told something else by an email CSR. This is AWESOME!

I am debating about doing this. We are planning on buying the disney dining plan for our DVC stay in August. I know we have to pay upon ordering the plan, and I assume this would be a disney charge? It is about $2000 so would be a nice bonus at 5%.

Thanks
Tracey

Hello!

I have to admit that I have not read this entire thread. I just have one question---is everyone who is upgrading getting the 5% for the first 3 months? My husband and I charge all of our purchases for the month and then pay the balance in full. When I linked this through my chase account, I was unable to upgrade online. So I called the number and the rep said that we did not qualify for the 5% even though it was stated on my screen. She said it was only for a select group of customers, not the general public.

This infuriates me---it was on my screen with my log in--wouldn't that make me a qualifying customer? We charge every month, pay in full and are never late. We've been card holders for about 2 years. Has anyone else run into this problem? The only disclaimer that was there was subject to credit approval---our credit scores are in the 790's for both of us. Grrrr!

Goodness! I called back and spoke with another representative---the first one was seriously uninformed. EVERYONE who upgrades gets the 5% back for 3 months.....lol!! What a relief!!

Yes, LaurensMom - I just rec'd a letter today telling me that I'm not elibible for the 5% rewards! That was the reason I upgraded...

They thanked me for "my recent inquiry". I assume this was in regards to my question to the phone rep taking my info ascertaining I'd receive the 5% X 3 months. Phone rep assured me I would.

Rec'd the letter today stating "This acct does not have additional 3% bonus on the bonus categories listed: gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and most Disney locations".

No explanation as to why.

Will be making another phone call in the morning....

With regards to your 2nd post about speaking to another rep, I hope you're right, LaurensMom - but that's NOT what my letter from Chase says.... I'll come back to this forum tomorrow after I've had a chance to speak with someone.

I hope they get it fixed for you!! I'm anxious to hear how it goes---were you able to upgrade online or did you have to call?

I'd be up in arms. You received an offer in the mail, did you not? The offer was online was it not? They better have a good explanation.

OK - here's the "explanation" I received from Chase Disney as to why I'm not getting the 5X rewards:
Rather than upgrading my existing acct, they opened a new acct (I now have 2 Chase Disney VISA's - my old regular one, and the new premier acct).
Because they opened a new acct rather than upgrading the original, I'm not eligible for the higher rewards...
I made it very clear that was not my intention - and that I even asked when "upgrading" about the 5X rewards. I subsequently charged almost $6,000 to pay off an upcoming cruise with the explicit intention of getting the reward points!
I'm told "there is probably nothing we can do" tho they are sending my complaint to their marketing division.
They are now upgrading my old acct - but I'm out of luck for any charges made before today!
You better believe I'm boiling mad - & that I'll be calling again on Monday to see if there's been any resolution.

Just a head's up to everyone else....

Sorry you are dealing with this. Since they opened a new card, you should be getting a $100 gift card. Did they at least say that you would be getting that?

Thanks for your kind words of support, smitch.
They said I would see a $100 credit on my acct approx 6 - 8 wks after my first purchase.
Just as soon as that credit shows up I'll be closing that acct!

FWIW, I received my $100 credit within a couple of days after my first purchase, not 6-8 weeks.

Just got my card in the mail! Sorcerer mickey is too cute.:thumbsup2

Does anyone know what counts exactly as a "restaurant"?

Thanks!

I'm just guessing based on rewards earned during previous promotions, but I believe fast food does not count. Anything above fast food does count even if it does not have waitress service (like McAllister's Deli for example).

I figured it was something like that. I guess I will just have to try some places and see what works. I'm hoping that Panera Bread counts :)

Thanks!

your post totally freaked me out! :rotfl: I just got off the phone with Disney Visa to confirm that as long as the fast food restaurant codes themselves as "restaurant" in their system that you do get 2%. I verified that McDonald's is currently earning me 5% for the first 90 days. Thank goodness!!!:lmao:

Glad to hear it! It never worked for me during previous promotions where we earned bonus rewards for restuarants. Guess it depends on how each McDs codes themselves. Thought they would all be the same but apparently not.

This is great news. Great great news. :rotfl:

The funny (and fitting) thing is, McDonald's is the very first place I used my new card. The cashier even said "Oooh...this is prettier than your blue one with the castle."

Um...yeah....clearly I go to McDonald's way too much, but hey...bring on the rewards baby!:woohoo:

This is my first Disney card.... so no 5% rewards for me :(

But, I've been wanting this card for a while. So here goes nothin'!:cool1:
