Disney Pins- How do you wear them in parks and Display at home?

(For the record: Wal*Mart has less expensive canvases than Michael's)

Thanks for the tip as I'm about to have to make a new one! I also really like the different fabric ideas...hadn't thought of that!

As for listings of pins we were lucky enough on our last trip in January to find a couple of CMs in HS that gave us print outs of the 2007 and 2008 cast lanyard pins. We were collecting several of these, so it was a real help to see what we were looking for to complete collections. My kids would rather trade pins than see attractions so we will certainly be adding on our future trips!:dance3:

My daughter and I collect pins and she trades with CMs.

I display mine in a shadowbox, my daughter keeps her in a Disney pin trading book.

I just got into pin trading in December. I plan to only take my traders with me this trip.

I made the display board below to display my pins. It was super easy! I just wish I had more pins to cover it.

I have a boonie hat that I wear a few pins on while in the parks. I am a collector more than a trader. I have been lucky enough to win a Year of a Million dreams pin lanyard via snail mail postcards. This is the most comfortable lanyard I have in my collection. So now I wear this lanyard at certain times of my visit. Most of the lanyards in my collection give me that itch and irritation around the back of my neck. That is the reason for my boonie hat!

The canvas idea sounds like a great way to display your pins. I also like the hanging of the lanyards. Only problem is I do not have any where near enough lanyards to display my pins.

We have a Disney room in our small house! No kids right now so we can afford to do this. Our walls are painted Tinkerbell green, all my dw lithographs are framed the same and hung around the room to look like movie film. I custom made us a queen size upholstered headboard. I use black fabric and covered the headboard and trimmed it with red cording. Then I cut out the ears, padded it, covered it in black and trimmed it out in red cording. We have a bookcase that displays a few of my pins and her figurines. I think I will take the black canvas and staple it to a 1x2 frame and attach my pins to it and hang it on the wall!

Thanks for the ideas!

My DD thinks the lanyards get itchy, especially in the summertime , so sometimes she will put 4 or 5 pins on whatever hat she's wearing that day! My niece does the same and they get lots of compliments!

I don't wear my pins in the parks, I have them displayed on bulletin boards here at my house. I think that works really well :goodvibes

I had my dad build me a glass coffee table, to put all my Disney Pins in it! It turned out really cool! The table has two drawers that you can change out, so you can change out the top drawer for the bottom drawer. It is lined with black Velvet inside the drawers. Right now in the top drawer I have 100 pins in it and it still has even more room for more pins that can go in!

If anyone wants to see it, feel free to send me a pm with your email address.

Can you post a picture here?:)

Right now our pins are currently on the lanyard we bought. We just had a few pins on it in the parks. I didn't finish putting all the pins we bought on it until after we got home. We were given one pin (not Disney but it was still neat to get) this trip by the people whom we were seated next to at breakfast one morning.

The lanyard is currently on display on the glass shelves in our Grandfather clock that my FIL made. It has many other display items (things from our wedding, collectibles from our trips, etc) as well.

Here's what we use (you can't put the backs on the pins):

My mom got a shadow box from Hobby Lobby and covered the interior with black velvet and gave it to us for Christmas last year. We've started our collection for another case :woohoo:
Love it! Might have to do something similar.

I would love to see a picture. That would be something DH could make.....hmmmm, I think I might have a project he needs to make. ;)

I do the exact same thing in my home -- however, I first cover the canvases with appropriate fabric. For example: for my wife's Princess Pin collection the canvas is covered with purple crushed velvet. My Haunted Mansion Pins are on a background of torn and tattered black gauze. Pirate Pins are on a stamped pleather background.

Hey! Thanks for your ideas. I bought the canvas boards today and some fabrics. I just wanted to ask you you attached the fabric to the canvas board. Would hot glue hold it or should I go get a staple gun? Other ways?

This is the headboard I made for our Disney Room! I will make a board or two for my all of my pins!

We have 3 cork boards that we use for home displays, but we have more pins than we have up on display. We have found that if you take adhesive backed craft foam and put a layer of that over the cork, that the pin posts don't get crumpled and that the boards last a lot longer.

We covered over the foam on two of our boards with fabric. I have lots of projects planned for some of our sets, but so far, either no time or no energy.

WOW! What an awesome idea. I love it!

WOW! Some really great ideas on how to display the pins at home! I can't wait to do this with my husband after we get back from our upcoming trip (7 more days!!) I especially liked the shadow box with the black background.

I find the lanyards itch as well so usually i just bring the pins I know we will trade (and maybe two or three special ones we like to show off) and line the strap of the camera bag or the bag we bring into the parks. DH is the big time addict... I haven't yet told him about all the pin websites yet... I'm afraid if I do, I might not ever see him again! :surfweb: :lmao:

When I am at WDW on my lanyard I wear 14 of my favorite pins which also happens to be my most valuable ones, so I don't trade and I also use pin locks to keep them on. Besides that for my single pins those stay in my pin bags and for my Jumbo pins those I keep on display in my room for everyone to see.

we love our trading pins! we have 95 and my dh put them on a corkboard and we have it hanging up in dh's mickey bathroom. i love to look at all of them. we always buy them from the disney store and on sale and trade for good ones @ disney!! i will try to post a picture.

I bought 2 white canvass boardss at Michaels (hey 2 for 5$!!!) and spray painted them black. I hung the on the wall in my DS3's room and now he gets to look at them all the time.

But after seeing them wrapped in felt or other coverings, im gonna have to come up with some new ideas. Those are cool!!!:cool1:
