I wish they would simultaneously role this out to theaters like drive ins.

For some reason I wouldn't pay $30 to watch it and keep it on my service but would be more inclined to pay $60 or whatever it comes to with snacks and such to get everyone out of the house and go see it there.

We did it for the Goonies and ET so why not? lol

Exactly, and i think more people feel the same. Im no way paying $30 to watch in my house but ill pay $60 to take family out to see it at theater. Making plans, getn family ready and heading out to see new movie is all part of an experience as to where just sitn on couch just doesn't feel the same.

disney couldn’t do both at the same time. Disney had to pick one or the other.

I’ve already heard people saying they’re going to rent out “accounts” on their membership for $10-20 to get access to Mulan for cheaper while the main member profits on the purchase. I hope Disney is aware of this situation and makes sure that only the account that makes the purchase has access, or are able to geo-lock the movie being watched.

Does that really work? I know we can set up multiple Profiles, but they all log in using the same credentials.

I’d imagine the person would give a certain amount of people their credentials, give them a time limit (ex 24 hours) to watch the movie, and then change the password and give the new password to a new set of people. I doubt this will be widely utilized, just something I heard may occur

Yeah, I think that window is way too short. I really think they should've jsut released it for sale on digital to keep at that price and do the D+ release later.

Exactly. Release the movie for sale. Release the movie at all theatres that can show it, including drive-in movie theatres (apparently, there are 325 in the US). Some of us are bored at home :D

Very dumb to reveal the date when it’ll be free. More people would have bought it if they didn’t know definitively when it would be free, even if they had a feeling it was in December. Knowing for sure, they’re missing out on a lot of buys

If New Mutants can get absolutely destroyed by critics and still make 10M this weekend, Mulan for sure could have done far more than that. Maybe not the 80-90M it would have made on opening weekend in March, but more than they are going to do on PVOD

I think 95%+ of the people that would have bought Mulan will still buy it. It is easy to say you will wait the 3 months before it hits. Then you hear people talking about it and it isn’t as easy to wait. Especially when your other options for entertainment are limited.

There’s a lot more open than when a movie like Trolls came out. And when I say a lot more, I mean everything except essential stores. This was never going to do very well on PVOD. They needed more than 100% of the current people that were interested to buy it. That’s very unlikely to happen.

depends where you’re at. I’m in CA and not a lot is open!

well even where I live in NY we don’t have movie theaters open, but there’s a lot more to do on the weekends now. I don’t personally partake, and I am buying Mulan because I have to review it, but I still think Disney made the wrong decision. Put it 2 weeks after Wonder Woman and it could have made them a good amount of money.

I finally got around to watching Howard. It was really good, but so sad. I knew a lot about the latter part of his life (the Disney stuff) but to see the earlier stuff was fascinating. I hope to see more content like this on D+ for sure.

Something tells me Disney wanted to do a Disney+ paid release at some point anyway to see what the demand will be like and how much they’ll get out of it. Maybe they just made the decision with this movie knowing it wouldn’t make what it was going to make pre-COVID regardless, to have it be the guinea pig.
