I’m interested to see how much these movies gross over their first weekend or so. I know looking at availability of seats in theaters near me, there are barely any seats actually sold at this point. In fact, I can’t find a single seat sold at either of the closest 2 theaters to me for the Friday or a Saturday showings of New Mutants. I’m wondering if the a Disney Springs theater will sell out much quicker mainly because with the parks closing by 7, people want something to do at night. Especially looking at the fact that they’re mainly only showing it in the evenings.View attachment 520909
They added 10 showings since the other day for New Mutants at Disney Springs for next Thursday. Hope they made the right move with Mulan, because New Mutants is selling tickets at a better pace than anyone envisioned
Edit: Tenent “Early Access” screenings on Mon, Tue, Wed (8/31-9/2) are all pretty much sold out as well

Also weird to look at the UO City Walk theater and see they’re basically not roping off any seats, and they haven’t sold a lot of tickets either. I think that’s pretty telling that people probably feel more comfortable at DS with the roped off seats. With California and New York theaters not reopening any time in the near future, its not going to do enormous numbers, but I think it’ll make enough (~$25-30M) to justify opening in theaters. They needed it to. Its been too long and it starts the clock of when they can release it on PVOD for anyone not willing to go to theaters just yet. If this movie gets reviews that are even remotely encouraging, people on the edge will go. Californians are literally driving to Vegas to see it.

And it’s surprising as we actually prefer the theater at CW to DS during normal times.
Oh definitely, the parking fee for just CW isn’t worth it. We’ve got the APs so we get parking for free.Maybe its just an oversight and they havent been informed of the mistake? I cant imagine 10 miles away Cinemark would have a free for all setting. Thats what I hope, at least. I think people get turned off by having to “pay” for parking, even if its validated with the proof of the movie ticket. I’d love to go to City Walk to just walk around, and maybe go to a movie, but having to pay for parking always makes me rethink it
My daughter like the book. She said there is a book the one and only Bob as well. Also watched One and Only Ivan tonight. Thought it was really good. Tugged on the heart strings at the right times. Probably a bit slow for younger kids, but was a great watch for us.

Yea I'm curious too. See people mention or talk about how much theatres seem to be filling up for movies but a big part is this limited seating. The AMC by us reopened last week but for at least the first weekend they were only selling 18 tickets per theatre. They are now showing 30% occupancy or less and as soon as you purchase a ticket it blocks out every seat surrounding it.I’m interested to see how much these movies gross over their first weekend or so.
