We lost Disney Quest for this.

And everyone saw that coming as soon as they announced this. Didn't work at Uni, didn't work here. I know Uni was just a restaurant, but still.

I'm only sad because I remember when DS was more about experiences than just shopping/eating.

The more the entertainment fails the less likely they are to keep trying.

This was a bad try though.

Rumor has it that buffets are coming back, and Boma will be one of them.
Ugh - I know might be in the minority - but I'm going to be pissed if the ADRs I just made for buffet-turned-family-style restaurants (CM & TH) now convert BACK to buffets before our October trip. No way in hell am I doing buffets with a 4 & 2 year old... way too much work for mom! I'm only going to be pissed because I lost the ability to get the jump on other ADRs, but maybe I'll run into luck with some people canceling other TSs for our buffets when I release them.

Rumor that Ohana is returning to regular menu?!?!? Hope that is true!
I ate there last Saturday and it was as fantastic as always. I am allergic to shellfish so no casserole.

Didn't really miss the skewers that much. They gave us enough meat in the skillets to hold us over and we asked for more noodles and were given an entire skillet with just them in it.
The wings and dumplings were as good as ever and I actually thought the bread pudding was better this time than when we had pre-pandemic.

I know I'm probably in the minority, too, but dang I wish they'd keep family-style forever for many of the restaurants (understanding this isn't ideal for some restaurants - like Boma - but some places could easily work without losing much).

My family loved the variety that came with buffets and we booked at least one every trip. However, all it took for me was one bad experience in summer 2019 with severe illness after eating at a buffet in WDW, (confirmed by dr down there it was related to food). I can't look at one the same again.

Nor will I ever book a dining plan lol. We'd done a split stay and dipped our toes into the dining plan for 3 days to see if we liked it enough to do it for a full trip in the future. Hard no after that experience :). Disney wouldn't let me use my credits when I was well again - I thought maybe they'd extend for me since we were still on property for several days, but nope.

My poor family trying to eat my share for 3 days...lol.

You are not in the minority. We just got back and very much enjoyed family-style dining. Maybe they'll keep some buffet and some family-style? Who knows?

A person I follow on Instragram shared a post in their stories and it said that it has been confirmed that Candlelight Processional is coming back. Has anyone else heard this? I looked on other blogs but am finding nothing.

So we arrived Saturday evening and EPCOT was a MESS!!! I am not surprised they opened some of the booths early. We've been here 6 times in the last year and World Showcase was as bad as I ever saw it pre-COVID. Lines for all of the food booths were probably 20-30 people deep? With only one person working a lot of the cash registers. Everyone was piled on top of each other everywhere with almost no one wearing masks (which is the rule because it's outside....)

We went back last night (Sunday) and it was soooooooo much better. Some booths were walk-up. Others had maybe 5 people in line. Lots more distancing for eating/drinking. It reminded me of Food and Wine in the "before days". Lots of locals on Friday/Saturday but then much less crowds the other nights. Something to keep in mind if you have the choice which night to eat there.

On the plus side, when everyone is at Food and Wine, hardly anyone is waiting for rides. lol

Saw some young-ish people get in an argument with cast members over mask wearing in the Test Track queue. It got pretty ugly and I was embarrassed my kids even had to see it. It's the worst I have seen it in the last year so if it is a hot button issue for you, just be prepared!!

Boma - Taste of Menu Lineup

  • Breakfast offerings include creamy pap, turkey bobotie, pancakes, waffles, deviled eggs with salmon, and delicious freshly baked items from the Boma bakery.
  • At dinner, the rotisserie area will offer pork ribs, salmon, African-spiced strip loin, Durban rotisserie chicken, and lamb bobotie. The kid’s cooking pod will have pasta and meatballs, mac n’ cheese, and chicken bites. The rotating selection of soups, stews, and chowders are back, as well as tasty salads like berbere chickpea salad and North African cauliflower salad.
  • For dessert, Guests can enjoy delicious Zebra Domes and a variety of other sweet treats.

I am a little confused as to why/how Disney is opening up more and more while Florida is doing so badly with Covid. I by no means want them to close again. But they aren't staffed to handle to additional openings or crowds, Epcot is still a construction zone.

I really hope things improve all the way around by my December trip.
