Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun!

I know! Isn’t it great? We can spend 7k and just skip all the headliners that are running an hour or more. I can practically smell the pixie dust it’s so magical. Or you know, Disney could give their guests a way around the lines in the summer heat.
I'm sorry you feel this way. We have had 2 great trips without FP+. We found that it was much easier to tour around without having to constantly watch the time and our phones. We were able to ride everything we wanted and found that the posted wait times were pretty inaccurate. I think we only had one wait time that wasn't significantly shorter than what was listed.

I have another trip coming up soon, and I am honestly worried that they might try and implement some sort of FP before then. I don't want it. Especially without enough time to learn a new system.

More than FP, I want the rest of the shows and parades .. .the things that handle large number of people, to open. Mostly because I enjoy them, but also because it should help disperse people.

While I focus on FP+ a LOT, this would also help with crowds. With so little to do, even if the crowds are smaller than they would be without caps, it will feel more crowded and lines will be longer. Nevermind we miss the shows and parades! Maybe if things get bad enough, fast enough, they'll do something although I think parades and shows are a long way off. Extending park hours would help us tremendously. Our kid can stay up all night without any issues at all, the child does not seem to need sleep.

Suggestion: rope drop and/or ride headliners at park close. You won't have to wait much >30 minutes if you strategize.

I do imagine most people who hop into the FoP line between 12-3pm are going to be relatively unhappy. However, what a ride that is...
Unless you are one of the 100s of people there right at 7am, there is no way of getting on FOP with less than a 30 minute wait and there is 0 chance right now of riding it twice. Everyone is rope-dropping that ride. We arrived to the FOP line at 7:30 last week and were quite a ways back. It only took an hour for us to get through the queue. It was at least 2 hours once the park was actually open. We got to ride in “less“ time than the average posted waits last week but I’d rather not get up before the sun on vacation. FP would have taken 15 minutes and we could have slept a lot later.

Honestly, FOP is a ride you can skip if you've done it once or twice before. I feel like if you RP Everest, maybe ride it twice, then Kilimanjaro Safaris, then Dinosaur, you'd be all set.

I think FOP is probably the best ride in Disneyworld. I won’t do Everest, although my family will. Yes, you could knock out all those other rides at AK at rope drop if you avoid FOP, and if Everest isn’t down for at least the first hour which it was on the day we went. Rides were down every single day at rope drop while we were there. And you have no way of knowing they won’t open until after you’ve arrived at the queue-so there goes any rope drop strategy/advantage.

It sometimes depends on your group. I think FOP is very advanced since the rest of AK is lackluster for thrills besides Dinosaur and Everest, but it's definitely a hit or miss. You have to be there right at rope drop to get on, otherwise, you'll wait hours. It's not worth waiting 2+ hours.

I’ll trade our current restrictions at home for the crowds at WDW any day, at least there we could do stuff.

Our June trip was, in my Disney-tolerating long-suffering DH’s words, magical. It was like having a normal life. You could eat inside restaurants, shop in stores, get a haircut, see a movie, etc.

So what if there’s lines? I’d rather spend an hour waiting to get onto Pirates than spend it waiting in line to get into the grocery store.

We just got back last week and wait times weren't bad if you showed up early (or stayed late) and had a plan. I lined up for an AK opening of 8AM at the bus stop at 630AM. We arrived at AK before 7AM and lined up. We were the second group in line for park opening because we got there so early and then walked right onto FOP. But you do have to be ahead of the pack of people to achieve that, like others said. If you're not, better zig while others zag and go to another ride. We also rode FOP at park close, hopped in line right before close, and waited maybe 40 minutes? Not bad at all.

Things are different and we definitely miss the entertainment too but we had a wonderful time. So much more was open and 'normal' this time compared to our trip in Nov. If you plan your trip convinced you're going to be miserable well..... then you will be. We went into it with a good attitude and just tried to be flexible. Plus we were there the first night fireworks returned- that experience was so emotional and beautiful. ❤️ We had a great time.

Okay sorry to continue the derailing of the news thread....

So how about that Disneyland xmas news? We barely got anything so far! 🎅🎄 I appreciate seeing Animal shop but like tell me moreeeee.

Truth. I skip it completely. Makes me.so violently I'll I can't stand it. It was an okay ride.

How the heck do they think it’s OK to just keep adding capacity without bringing back FP and more attractions, shows, and dining?

Where are all these people going to go? How long can standby lines get before there is a revolt?
Yes! We were that all week & it is ridiculously crowded. Most things were an hour wait or more at MK today. And with the fireworks now, wait times don’t subside in the evenings like they had been. And don’t even think about going if you have any concerns about Covid. It’s as crowded as I’ve ever seen it.
