Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2024 Edition

TRON and Remy's are the only two examples (that I can think of off the top of my head at least) over the past decade or so that didn't involve getting rid of/replacing another ride/attraction.
New Fantasyland counts (unless you are counting it as the "replacement" for the subs, which closed many years earlier.) That's a bit more than ten years, though.

So does the Pandoraverse: everything in Camp Minnie Mickey was moved somewhere else: FotLK into the walkway between Pandora and Africa, and the character trails scattered around the park.

Toy Story Land might count as well--I don't think it used any of the old Tram Tour real estate, but it might have.

I'm not much of an Avengers fan but if the people want it, sure go for it. That said, they can do a whole lot with a Dr Strange environment and let their imaginations loose on what to think up.

I thought the plans were just for building that Multiverse dark ride?

Great examples. "Off the top of my head" didn't get me very far lol. Total brain fart on Pandora; I would definitely count that.

And for New Fantasyland I guess I do view it as more of a replacement to 20,000 Leagues in general but I suppose they did actually expand on that space.

I'm now second guessing Toy Story Land but I'm like 99.9% sure the Backlot Tour utilized that space.

Regal Theaters has a bunch of Moana 2 merch as well. A metal sand pail popcorn bucket, a wave popcorn container, a boat nacho holder, an ocean scene dome cup and looks like some Funkos (not sure about those).

One of the best show ever, IMO!!! Loved the subtle humor of the preshow...the Tim Curry and Scruffy portion, and the special effects in the theater. I know it wasn't for young kids who could be frieghtened in the dark... but not EVERYTHING has to be for young kids... some things can just be for bigger kids and adults. There were plenty of warnings about not being appropriate for young ones, and if folks disregarded them, well, what can you do? Stitch was AWFUL... but then, I'm not a Stitch fan, so was a bit predisposed to not liking it, especially after replacing Alien.

As for the Muppets 3D relocation, there is chatter on another forum I'm on that it would logically be a great fit for the Lightening McQueen area by RnRC once Cars Land is built... make that whole area Muppet Land....
I agree Not all rides are for kids ! But now kids can’t ride muppets in RnR.. the littles can’t ride until they’re 48” tall…

Considering what it is replacing a lot can be done with the queue and pre-show parts. If it were the history of the Muppets.... and Jim Henson himself... that would be something I would like to see. However I do not want to see some fictional music career of Electric Mayhem and Dr Teeth in place of Aerosmith and Steven Tyler.

As for the little kids that cant ride it yet (many of whom will be repeat visitors at some point) if you asked them "Dr Teeth or Mike Wachowski" who do you think would win? Been said many many times about Splash Mountain of course. For theming, if the choice was between Tiana and Uncle Remus, while its somewhat controversial for a minority of people Tiana wins every time.

Flipped through a few pages and didn’t see it noted, apologies if overlapping with previous discussion. A follow up to the Blog Mickey post below from a few days ago, I was in Epcot last night and all of the in ground lighting in this area was fully working and only one pillar wasn’t.

You can’t really get a photo of it as the sections go on/off in different patterns, but best I could do below. Credit where credit is due, the whole area looked fantastic at night, in my humble opinion. Glad they put some resources into fixing.

If you are good and steady with a camera you can do what a lot of photographers have done forever (film and digital) and composite multiple photographs. Say to remove crowds or that big flag poll obstructing the castle when viewed from the train station in order to get an unobstructed shot. Take the shot. Slowly and carefully move a foot to the right and take the next shot. Some consider this cheating but sometimes it is the only way to get the presentation you want.

Total tangent but before reading this thread tonight, I happened to be telling my daughter how guilty I still feel for not taking her younger brother to see Stitch's Great Escape. We first took him to WDW when he was 8 and he wanted to see if when we walked by. I had been on the Alien Encounter version and knew it wasn't for young kids. I had heard the Stitch version was really bad, so I didn't want spend the time on it and I didn't think my youngest son (age 2) was tall enough for the harness. Not realizing how important it was to him, I decided to skip the attraction.

A few years later we returned to WDW and discovered that the attraction had closed. My son was crushed. He is now 16 and still mentions how disappointed he was that he never got to see Stitch's Great Escape. The mom guilt is REAL! I feel like your post and the one before it were the universe's way of telling me to "let it go." Sounds like he didn't miss out on a great show.
