Disney+ Offering Paid ‘Extra Member’ Option as Part of Anti-Password Sharing Measures

Disney+ is now cracking down on password sharing, implementing new policies aimed at turning shared accounts into paying subscribers.

Disney+ has introduced paid account-sharing options in several regions, including the U.S., Canada, and parts of Europe and Asia. This new feature allows subscribers to add additional profiles to their accounts for family members or friends who live outside their household.

Disney+ subscribers in the U.S. can now add an “Extra Member” to their account for an additional fee. This allows them to share their account with one friend or family member who doesn’t live with them. The cost is $6.99 for Disney+ Basic and $9.99 for Disney+ Premium.

However, this option is not available for Disney Bundle subscribers or those billed through a third party. Additionally, Disney+ account holders can transfer eligible profiles to new subscriptions or add them as Extra Members to preserve their settings and watch history. Travelers can still access Disney+ using a one-time passcode.

Disney plans to extend its anti-password sharing measures to Hulu and ESPN+. The company’s updated terms of service state that they may limit or terminate access to their services if password sharing is detected. CEO Bob Iger has indicated that the impact of these measures won’t be felt until 2025. Disney first announced their plans to combat password sharing during their Q3 2023 earnings call.

I've noticed that Animal Kingdom extra magic hours on october 11th is now scheduled from 8-10PM instead of 6-8PM! That's pretty cool actually. I don't remember it usually being open that late.
One of the greatest events we've attended is the AK After Hours event... so cool being there at night in an empty park.

it does seem cool but it also seems like there's barely anything open? Is there enough to do?
At the time Pandora was new (to us) so it was worth the price to ride FoP and Navi River 3 times... plus 5 rides on Everest, Rivers of Light, Dinosaur rerides in our own vehicle without getting out and somehow managed to keep down all the ice cream, popcorn and soda! Not to mention it was the cheapest.. I think we paid around $90/pp with a discount. But yes... they still need to add more to this park and I'm hopeful that they will keep it open later when the tropicals America area opens.

The park is generally also just fantastic after dark. The lighting package in e.g. Discovery Island is very very cool, and almost no one gets to see it.
Yes! Last year in July, we got to see it during a Moonlight Magic event that lasted 8 to 11 pm. We loved it

Whoopi Goldberg pays tribute to late Sister Act costar Maggie Smith: 'A brilliant actress'

Whoopi Goldberg is honoring her late Sister Act costar Maggie Smith after the actress died Friday at the age of 89.

“Maggie Smith was a great woman and a brilliant actress. I still can’t believe I was lucky enough to work with the ‘one-of-a-kind,’” Goldberg wrote on Instagram. “My heartfelt condolences go out to the family…RIP.”

Smith and Goldberg would go on to reprise their roles in the film’s sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, which was released the following year. Then, in 2020, Disney announced that it planned to produce a third installment of the franchise that would be released on Disney+. Goldberg and her fellow castmates have provided updates on the project to fans in the years since, with Tanya Trotter most recently revealing that its script has been completed.

However, Goldberg has stated in the past that she’d only reprise her role in a potential threequel if Smith did, too. While visiting the British talk show Loose Women, Goldberg noted that she’s “holding the part of Mother Superior” for Smith.

“I just can't do it with anybody but you,” she said at the time. “We don't want to do it without you, Maggie.”

The pair’s friendship goes beyond the silver screen. In her memoir Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me, Goldberg recalled the devastating moment that she learned her mother had died and how Smith stayed with her until she was able to get a flight home from London the next morning.

"For the next five hours, Maggie sat with me and let me talk her ear off, telling stories about my mom, my growing-up years, and my brother. We laughed a lot,” she wrote. "I don’t know if I was in shock. I had never been in shock before. I don’t think I cried. I didn’t feel anything except a big wave of kindness from Maggie."

Goldberg added, "I’ve got to say, she is one of those people for whom I would do anything. Anything Maggie Smith needs, I got her covered.”

Disneyland Paris news
Disneyland Paris had quite some news to share today:

- Miguel will be meeting in Frontierland during Halloween. Last minute addition, or surprise.
- The new nighttime show will debut on January 10th.
- From November 23rd to March 29th there will be a special evening show Mystery of Mystics with Dr. Strange and Scarlet Witch.
- Stitch will be in Videopolis in Discoveryland in his Vampire outfit.
- During Christmas there will be a special show in the Disneyland Hotel, La Troupe Royale is on a break, but it will be replaced with The Keeper of Light and Winter Time, something Christmas-sy to light the Christmas tree.

And there is a Mother Gothel "Meet & Play" during Halloween. Today was a preview for AP holders and fansites. And in true French fashion, there were some hiccups...

- Most people thought it was going to be a selfie spot, but it was kind of a 10-minute story time, like they did with Belle during Princess Week.
- The location is less than ideal. She is standing on a small stage. but it is not very elevated, so only those at stand at the front have a good view.
- Only those standing at the front were able to snap a selfie, as the time for selfies was very short and not managed by CMs... No autographs.
- And... there are some issues with her casting, the bushy eyebrows and sometimes heavy voice... I have already seen several comments calling her Father Gothel or Michael Jackson. And that the actress is relatively young (and not a woman in her 30s/40s). Plus it's very busy dress. The pattern could have been more subtle.

Hopefully they will fix some things over night.

It does look better on video, but one of the first pictures is definitely not flattering.

I did shift my current resv to a CL but CLs are only about 15% discount...still a bit of a savings from the current 1BR villa (which isn't available for the AP discount!) - will continue to look, but pickin's are pretty slim for what I am looking for...
