Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2024 Edition

I thought I read that Big Thunder Mtn was going down for an extended refurbishment- we don’t think it will be rebranded for Cars, right?

Looking at the concept art, it might be a clone, or very similar, to the Cars ride in California. A stand alone ride, not touching Thunder. It makes sense as the mountain scenery matches Big Thunder

So many announcements. I think Disney hit it out of the park (sorry) on this one! No doubt some will be disappointed in what they were hoping for but I think there is something for every fan. This will boost park attendance tremendously.

How about starting a Josh for CEO movement!

I'm excited for the announcements. Though Cars belongs replacing Speedway. I don't know how they are going to make Card fit in Frontierland if it isn't Radiator Springs unless it's becoming a separate land NEXT to Frontierland.

And Villains Land. YES please!
I could see that as an extension of fantasy land… but I hope that they move to electric cars for the speedway. I always feel so bad for the cast members that have to breathe those fumes!

I agree, it does match with Radiator Springs.

My family is THRILLED for a Cars area at MK. Ka-chow! But, BTMRR is our fave rollercoaster at MK, so please don’t touch that!

I'm too cynical to be watching this. Flight School is basically the Harry Potter Hogwarts ride 😂 cool potential plus-ups though

It actually looks like the Sum of All Thrills, but on a moving track system.

I am still processing all of this this morning. Where exactly is all of this stuff going? I am not seeing where they said, particularly some of the DLR stuff.

One of the pieces of concept art for Avatar looked a lot like Grizzly River Run. Which really hurts for me as that area is my favorite section of the park theming wise and I don't give a crap about Avatar.

I love Avatar, but I don't want it to replace Grizzly River Run. Hopefully that is not the case.

Processing....

I am okay with Cars being a "subland" of Frontierland I suppose, akin to how Storybook Circus is part of Fantasyland technically, but also pretty different. If there is some dileneation, then that's okay. I hope it s not a closen or Radiator Springs/Racers at DCA.

Also, I read that Avatar would be on the Hollywoodland side, though I am not exactly sure how. It may be the Hyperion Theater on the chopping block, which is kind of a shame. Where is that Coco going?

Edit: Not sure

It's really more just a thinking out loud hypothetical question, but I am wondering. Space is pretty limited at DLR. I mena, I get it at WDW - even if I can't picuture it exactly, I know there is room, or they can make it. DCA - man - TWO boat rides and TWO Avengers rides? Did the City of Anaheim just decide to sell them Katella Avenue? 🤣
