Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

For these previews do you need a park ticket? Also, if they want your party size for resort stay do they allow everyone to preview that's staying, even if they are not DVC or annual pass holders?
For the AP preview, everyone needs to be an AP holder and your AP must be valid on the day of the preview (as in block out dates do apply). Also yes you need a valid park ticket. For the DVC preview, everyone who is registered to the room is allowed in but the blue card holder needs to be present when checking in.

Thanks so much!!! That clears things up for me.

Lifelike Walt Disney Hologram to Greet Guests at Disney100: The Exhibition

According to a new piece in The New York Times, visitors to Disney100: The Exhibition at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia will be greeted by a lifelike hologram of Walt Disney himself, despite the man being dead nearly sixty years.

According to the Times, “The Walt Disney Company used archival video and artificial intelligence tools to create a lifelike hologram of its founder — a full-size digital avatar that speaks in Walt’s voice and appears as part of interactive exhibitions of Disney artwork, props and costumes that will tour the globe until at least 2028.” The hologram will be located at the exhibit’s entrance.

Disney Springs Photo Spot Updates

Today I want to share an exciting update about this studio: Rather than keeping the classic gray backdrop year-round, the portrait side of the studio is now going to be updated throughout the year to match the season! After a successful pilot last year of sets themed to fall and winter, this side of the studio will be updated throughout 2023 with different sets and props so you can enjoy a different photo experience each season you stop by. Visit today to enjoy the Valentine’s Day set, which is shown in the photo below.

During your visit, you can also capture photos with virtual backdrops on the other side of the studio. There are so many options, and we’re always creating new virtual backdrops for you to enjoy.

Next time you’re at Disney Springs, check it out. The studio is open daily from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. No reservations are required to visit, and it’s a fun way to spend a bit of time with a photographer. Plus, if you have Memory Maker or Memory Maker One Day, the photos you capture here are included with your entitlement.

Want more studio time? Visit our other Disney PhotoPass Studios located at the following locations:

  • The second floor of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
  • Sir Mickey’s in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park
  • NEW! The Wandering Reindeer in the Norway pavilion at EPCOT
No reservations are required, and all are welcome to capture photos inside these studios. Tip: Ask for Magic Shots when you visit. There are some really fun ones available, some that you can’t capture anywhere else.

Curious about the Wandering Reindeer spot, has anyone been there yet?

Is this included with the annual passholder photopass add on too?

I didn’t realize the other locations making mental note on the GF one in case we decide to stick to our monorail crawl and not head to springs after the springtime 5K

Having grown up watching Disneyland, then Wonderful World of Color, just thinking about seeing this hologram makes me tear up. Walt Disney was like an uncle we saw every Sunday night, the first celebrity whose death made me sad.
