The thing with remakes is you either compare it and therefore may never like it or you take it as its own thing and ignore the first version and maybe it's ok. There's 4 versions of A Star is Born, two of Show Boat and I'm sure lot of other movies that have been made. The issue is more than disney is doing them all in a row as the new thing.

That's an excellent point! ... I enjoyed at least 3 of the versions of 'A Star is Born'. And it may have to do with them being released with enough of a gap for each version to reflect their generation. Am I hitting my burnout level just due to the shear amount of live-action releases? I still think theater audiences will feel the same and don't need so many hitting so fast. I guess the new era will be not if they make plenty of money at the box office, but if they do well enough in exclusive streaming to keep subscriptions up

Did I miss something? They are revealing like 19 things for Disneyland, some stuff for Shanghai, Paris, Japan… but not a single thing at Disney World? I know the parks panel isn’t until Sunday but… sad. Telling us we are going to get Moana, Tiana’s ride, Tron and maybe like a Marry Poppins attraction is just going to be lame. Most of those things are already being built.

Again… did I miss a teaser or something about Disney World?

Grrr. Feeling so let down.

I am dreading mufasa but hey it at least is an original plot unless it’s derivative of Shakespeare again
I remember when Disney first announced the prequel, they said the plot would entail Simba telling his child (presumably Kiara?) about the life of his father.............events that he was not present for. The prequel will most likely be pointless but I'll take pointless over a shot for shot remake.

I'm sure the timing has a lot to do with it. I'd prefer live action to be like Cruella rather than a remake. I enjoyed that movie, but I don't think I've watched any of the remakes because they don't interest me.

Almost everything they've talked about for all of the parks today has been stuff that was already announced and being worked on. I think the only thing I've seen today that I wasn't aware of was the front part of the studios redo and the UK thing at DLP. The stuff at TDLR should open next year and I don't think Zootopia at Shanghai is far behind.

The parks panel is Sunday, with all of this already out I would expect/hope less time is spent on this stuff and more is spent on things that haven't been mentioned already.

I made the same observation to my husband tonight.

A few Florida things but they were just mock ups of things we knew were coming (walt, journey of water)

I laugh when people say that they should just do something new instead of remaking classics. Um, you do realize that the original animated movies were actually based on stories and fairy tales that have been around for a very long time...

But there's a difference between a written story or even a non disney fairytale movie that happened before disney made snow white, peter pan etc and redoing a movie you have literally already made.

Most of us have probably not seen a non disney fairytale movie before seeing the disney one, though some will have read the story but was it a non disney version of the book? Probably depends on when you grew up.

Also, most aren't using the original versions of these stories with kids because they aren't child friendly.

I agree with this statement, the "original" Disney fairytale movies were reimaginings, like Cruella was or Maleficent. There is no reimagining in a shot-for-shot live action remake. 90% of the time they loose something in the process.

Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Gadget Coaster Coming to Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland

With the reimagining of Mickey’s Toontown fully underway, we get our first look at the project’s final form from the D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA. We have several new updates on the project as seen in a scale model on display on the showfloor. We’ve seen a couple of new restaurants planned for the land and now, let’s take a look at one of the returning attractions.

The model is broken up into pieces by area, with this being the neighborhood area where Goofy and Donald live. Just off the right edge of this model is an attraction that will be returning under a slightly different name.

Although the coaster itself isn’t shown in the model, the signs for the queue entrance tell us that Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Gadget Coaster will be located just off the present horizon. This is a renaming from the former Gadget’s Go Coaster, which was based on a character from “Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers.”

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Model Reveals Changes to Original Plans & Storyline

Even though this is a model of the Disneyland attraction, Imagineers confirmed that the facade changes outlined below will impact both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. The only changes between the attractions will be structural and layout changes that are already present today.

According to the new storyline, guests will travel into the salt mines of Louisiana as they help Tiana prepare to throw a party. It simply didn’t make sense for Mama Odie’s tree to be perched atop a salt mine, so it was removed as the storyline evolved.

One of the major new additions to the facade that wasn’t in the concept art is a water tower. This new addition will seemingly tie in the attraction’s overarching “Tiana’s Foods” storyline. Disney says that Tiana’s Foods is an employee-owned cooperative that Tiana pursued as a way of growing her business beyond Tiana’s Palace restaurant.

As the story goes, Tiana combined her talents as a restaurateur with the talents of locals to transform an aging salt mine and build a beloved brand that bolstered neighboring communities.

Here’s a closer look at the top of the salt mine and some of the dynamic lighting and projections that will fill the space.

Adding:

The boat previously shown in concept art is not included in the updated model and won’t be part of the attraction at Disneyland or Walt Disney World. The reason? It doesn’t align with the salt mine/salt mound storyline.

A few notes: The queue resembles a salt mine. The attraction takes inspiration from a salt mound on Avery Island. The dome is best known as a source of Tabasco sauce.

I spy Mama Odie's lanterns just before you drop?

Disneyland Paris:

New Entrance With Giant Character Statues Coming to Toy Story Playland at Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris

As part of the expansion of Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland Paris, a new entrance to Toy Story Playland will feature the same giant character statues as other Toy Story Lands around the world.
paris toy story land concept

Statues of Jessie and Woody are depicted in concept art currently on display at D23 Expo 2022. The statues are made from the same molds as the ones at the other parks, so stand in the same positions, with Jessie holding a string of lights.
I've been waiting for Jessie to come to DLP. It's so funny how they are always in the same pose, even at the Tokyo Toy Story Hotel and probably at Pixar Pier hotel too 😂
