Is anyone really surprised though? None of these remakes are necessary. Lion King is the worst one since it's a shot for shot remake but with worse music and no emotion whatsoever.

I think Disney is catching on finally. That's probably why Pinocchio went straight to D+. They were already in production on The Little Mermaid, but I wouldn't be surprised if they stop development on any other live adaptations. Since Disney seems nervous on original feature ideas, I guess we'll see plenty more Marvel, LucasFilm and attraction based films and sequels

I doubt Disney is going to stop making these. The remakes of the more popular movies like Lion King and Beauty and the Beast made a boat load of money in the box office. Plus they already announced Hercules, Lilo and Stitch, Peter Pan, and a pointless Lion King prequel.

Between Lightyear for better or worse, Elio, Strange Worlds seems like Disney is racking up ip for some tomorrowland stuff

I am dreading mufasa but hey it at least is an original plot unless it’s derivative of Shakespeare again

Logo Revealed for Live Action ‘Snow White’ Coming in 2024

We’ve long known of the “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” remake starring Rachel Zegler, but we finally got a look at the logo and a release window for the film. “Snow White” will release in theaters in 2024. Little else is known about the film at present, and no trailers have been released yet.

And ... the live action hits keep coming. If I recall, this is the film that may not include any dwarfs. I'm wrong plenty of times, but as we've been discussing, this live action flood is going to drag Disney down unless there is something unique that these adaptation can bring to the theaters.

Pinocchio is getting trashed on the reviews ... the consensus is it's a completely unneeded live action remake. The Little Mermaid may end up another direct to D+ streamer ...

Rotten Tomatoes Pinocchio

Pinnochio didn't age well, it's not like they could just remake it. From the few comments I read on fb, the issues people have are with how they "cleaned" it up to make it more appropriate for today. Not that they cleaned it up but that they didn't do a good job with it.

The thing with remakes is you either compare it and therefore may never like it or you take it as its own thing and ignore the first version and maybe it's ok. There's 4 versions of A Star is Born, two of Show Boat and I'm sure lot of other movies that have been made. The issue is more than disney is doing them all in a row as the new thing.
