OSHA Fines Walt Disney World Over $12,000 After Cast Member Injured at Laundry Facility

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has fined Walt Disney World $12,431 after a Cast Member was injured while working at a laundry facility on-site, according to a report obtained by Florida Politics.

The Cast Member was assisting others in unjamming a conveyor belt. The machine’s rollers were high up, so the Cast Member climbed on a cabinet to move the belt manually. It was still energized and began moving on its own, pulling the Cast Member’s arms between the tension roller and the belt. Another Cast Member used an emergency stop to turn off the machine but both of the Cast Member’s arms were broken in the incident.

OSHA cited the energized belt, missing tension roller guards, and a lack of official procedures for clearing jams in their report. They initially fined Disney more than $22,000 but reached a settlement agreement.
How horrible, poor CM.

Ugh. It’s the opposite for us, the stacking is what makes buying it worth the money. We tend to be late risers and lounge around the pool all morning, and we rarely hit a park before maybe 1pm or later even. I just stack LLs all morning, and then we do a whirlwind run from ride to ride for a few hours, before heading back to the pool or a different park. No stacking would mean I might not bother with G+ at all, unless I knew there would still be lots of availability once we got to the park.
So, I think you're the person they're targeting with a rule like this. They want you in the parks spending money while you wait for your next LL. Maybe you're spending money at their hotel pool anyway, but God forbid you're eating on the cheap at your airbnb, coming in to bang out your rides, and leaving again to have dinner off site!

The problem is, they need to have way more options in places like HS for this rule to not completely screw over most users. You pull SDD at 7am but it's not until afternoon, fine. You pull ToT or MFSR but it's not until evening, then what? It's not the attendee's fault that attractions have late in the day return times pretty much instantaneously!

If they do this, they should also be limiting not only how many people can buy G+, but how many in each park based on where they're reserved. Then, they can keep selling EP or AK to their heart's content while limiting how much G+ there is at HS so that people who spend the money have a valuable product. At least if you're locked out, you didn't waste $60 on your family of 4 for only a ride or two. And, if you're buying it to hop, you can only hold 2 LLs I'm your second park, leaving more capacity for the folks actually there using it.

Not allowing stacking (if the rumor pans out) puts everyone on a more equal playing field.

Isn't that how original FP worked? One at a time?
That is how original paper Fastpass worked. Genie+ is like the paper Fastpass system in terms of it being on a new available basis compared to Fastpass+ and limiting stacking would make it even more similar to the paper system.

Yup.

I still have my OLD paper fastpasses AND some "oopsie passes" that tell me I can't get another pass until we use our fastpass for Buzz Lightyear or something

What worries me is the HS rides disappear so quickly. How do you know if you’ll be able to grab anything else due to availability?

I think they have to allow some sort of stacking. I hope they leave it as is but I could see them moving it to 2 at a time.

That would be a major bummer! I was planning on stacking 😔
I found stacking to be super useful in HS in particular on my last trip. If this rumor ends up being real I understand why the change is being made, but it would completely change my game plan for that particular park. I did my stack while I was at my resort pool and I bet that's why they're changing it. Disney wants you in the park spending money instead of you being at your resort :(

Has there been anything more specific than just one blogger being told by a random cast member? Not trying to be snarky at all but my daughter is a CM and she hears LOTS of stuff that isn't true. I saw the one blog post above but haven't heard anything about it from any of the other bloggers or social media people who seem to always be in the know about this kind of stuff.

Judging by the money Disney admits that they are making off Genie+, I can't imagine them doing anything that would make people less likely to buy it. I would think they would raise the price first and see if they can continue to sell it out rather than making it less enticing to buy.

They could force you to be in the park by making it mandatory to have tapped in a park for your 2nd LL choice. Like they are doing for the 1pm GotG VQ. But could still allow unlimited stacking especially for PH.

When I did my stacking it was after I was in HS for the morning and I had left to do a mid day break by the pool. When I left the park I had 1 LL already and I got the other 2 while at the pool. I wonder if Disney would want to find a way to prevent what I had done in the future since I didn't return to the park until around 5 pm.

Agree to some extent. The current system locks you in to a time sometimes hours after what they show as available at the time of making reservations. Fastpass at least gave you the time For entry. The big negative is that FP+ allowed you to make your selections in advance. Genie + is a crap shoot hoping that you can get LL that day for a park you had to make reservations weeks in advance.
