Taking the family to Disney December 18-22. First time using the Disney Military discount. I see that the current Salute offer will expire the day before we arrive (figures). Does Disney come out with a new offer for the December 18 and beyond dates or is the Magic Your Way tickets the only option? Just don’t want to buy tickets if there will be a future offer coming. Also, are these tickets upgraded to park hopper or was that only the Salute tickets? Thanks for any info!

There are usually block out dates for the military salute discount tickets at Christmas. They usually run from Mid to the End of December.

I read that there were no 2021 Block out Dates for the Salute discounts. I think they just end the 17th because of Christmas.

Ah okay.
I always get the military salute tickets, but we did do one trip Christmas to New Year's paying the Magic My Way price I believe.

Are you staying at Shades of Green? If so, use the Stars and Stripes Length of Stay Pass. It's usually a decent discount compared to WDW prices.

No, you will not be able to use salute tickets. They are never available the last two weeks of December.

But definitely by the Magic Your Way tickets from a military source. They aren't as big of a discount as the salute tickets, but that time of year it's still significant.

This is because military MYW tickets are priced the same all year, but Disney's ticket prices vary seasonally. Here are some comparative numbers:

Military 5-day MYW Hopper from SoG: $520
5-day Hopper from Disney for 12/18-22: $684.62

No SOG was all booked. We are staying at Saratoga.
I’m pretty sure you can still get the Stars and Stripes passes as long as you are at an on-site resort, not just SOG - you may want to double check on that. We are just getting the MYW passes through SOG, since we are split staying between our DVC and universal.

This is my understanding that it's WDW or SOG.
We've never used those tickets but there are some restrictions about needing to be used on consecutive days (does that mean no down days?)

Yes - they are for length of stay. For some, the cost savings is enough vs the MYW hopper plus tickets that it isn't a concern for them. For instance, a 6 day stars and stripes ticket is 520.75, while a 5 day MYW park hopper plus is $539.75. Even with a down day, if you plan to use all the features, the stars and stripes ticket may still be a better deal. If you don't plan on hopping or using the water parks, then the stars and stripes option might not be a good purchase for you if looking for down time days also.

What’s the best place to purchase military discount tickets?

Right now you can only purchase them at military installations. Disney used to sell them at the gates, but right now they is not an option.

Shades of Green has a military ticket office and you can order WDW tickets from them and they will FedEx them to you, but most military base ticket offices will do the same. Only difference is SOG sends already activated tickets to you.

Does anyone know if shades of green will be selling discounted Christmas after hours tickets this year? I remember in 2019 they sold discounted MVMCP for military.

I hope they do. Wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t though. Or if they do it will be for the ones not in December.
