Do you think this is a good option for a family of 5, with 3 young children. 8, 6, and 3.

Which room do you like best and why?

it could be a great choice for you. There is A LOT of space. You would have the sofa bed for 2 kids and the Murphy bed for the third. There are 2 full bathrooms and the master bath has a full-sized bathtub.

We are big fans of the "sideways" 1 bedrooms (8532, 8534, 8032, 8034). I feel like the sideways layout gives more usable space in the living/dining room area, plus you have the enormous triple-wide verandah.

We have 8032 booked for our first cruise in November on the Disney Magic. One thing we really liked was that, in that room, the Murphy Bed is located in the living room instead of the bedroom. So, it provides a little bit of privacy for the grownups. We also felt like the sideways layout was a nice perk with an extra long verandah because of this. And, the two bathrooms are huge pluses too. The jury is out until we actually get to stay in the room, but it seems perfect.

I think you will love it. They are my favorite rooms on the classic ships.

We are really excited! It is wonderful to hear someone with first hand experience who has such positive reviews of this room.

Fully agree.

We'll be sailing on the Magic for the first time later this year and picked 8032 for the same reasons.

We love the 1-bedrooms on the Fantasy; I think the furnishings are significantly nicer and the master bathroom is spectacular, of course. But those sideways 1-bedrooms on the classic ships win hands-down in terms of living space. The wet bar is a nice added convenience too. And that huge verandah...dang.

We have 8032 booked on the Wonder this October also (for the same reasons). It will be our first time in Concierge (20th Anniversary splurge) and we decided if we were going to book a 1-bedroom, it needed to be one of the sideways ones ;)

Happy early anniversary! Way to celebrate it in style!

Make sure to let Shoreside Concierge know that you are celebrating such an important occasion. I am sure you will find lots and lots of special surprises from your Concierge Host.

Have fun! We are splurging as well, but I am wondering if I will ever want to go to a regular room after having this one. Two bathrooms for all of us is such a nice thing all by itself. Congrats!

Thanks so much :goodvibes We are travelling with just DH and I for the 5-night cruise and then having my Mom bring the kids to join us for the 2-night cruise afterwards. I can't wait until my kids see the room! They think we are in one of the regular rooms and I'm hoping I can keep that surprise until we get into the room. I figure I can tell that that we get to use the Concierge/Platinum line to check in for the 2nd cruise because we are B2B (they will buy that) ;)

That's the problem. You get SO spoiled by traveling concierge...the pre-cruise assistance from Shoreside Concierge, the ability to be assured you will get virtually whatever you want including cabanas, the extra space in the room, the special gatherings and gifts and surprises during the cruise, and so on. And don't even get me started on the Concierge Lounge on the Dream and Fantasy. We can't conceive of traveling non-concierge now.

When the rates came out for the 12-night Med for next year ($34,000 for two people in the 1-bedroom), we were crestfallen. We couldn't justify that expense for one trip, especially since we'd still have to pay for airfare and pre-cruise hotel, but we also didn't want to go non-concierge, especially since it would mean not having all that extra room, which on a long voyage we would consider essential. So we opted for the 7-night Med on Disney next summer and plans to cruise the central and eastern Mediterranean on another cruise line later.

Thanks :) I'm a little worried about that too. But with DD starting college soon, I think cruising may be over for us for a while anyway. That still won't stop me from booking a dummy cruise while we are on board...just in case ;)

I saw those crazy prices too, and it kind of ruined our ideas of the Alaska cruise in concierge next year, although we haven't totally ruled it out. We are looking at NCL at the Haven which looks pretty fantastic and splurgy too. 34,000 for a cruise would definitely break our bank unless we win the lottery.

We did Alaska on the Wonder last year...it was really fantastic. I have no experience with NCL, but know people who have sailed with them in the Haven and found it to be great. We are considering doing a trip to Bermuda on one of their new ships (Breakaway or Getaway, can't remember which) next year as well.

We've looked at a 2 bedroom Haven suite for Alaska and it's less than a verandah room on the Wonder. We've never sailed NCL but I've read nothing but great reviews about the Haven.

Yes, one of the new ships on NCL would be pretty amazing. My son is 7, but he also is, to my chagrin, is a huge Spongebob fan on top of Disney, so NCL has some draw. I will have to check out the Bermuda cruise. That is a destination I had not thought about but might be really fun in the Haven.

I found the same thing when looking at Alaska prices, and I loved that little private pool courtyard in the Haven. I am not big on huge crowds so it seemed like it created a type of oasis on the ship to get away and get pampered in between the excitement.
