We just returned from our five-day trip at the BCV and it was wonderful. I was totally amazed because I am under so much stress at this time (taking 15 graduate credits this semester) that I was starting to regret planning this trip, but as I was packing on Thursday night, a feeling of calmness came over me. I really couldn't believe it or understand it, but I just felt so happy to be going to WDW. Corny, I know, but true.

About the trip...We own at the BWV, but we totally loved the BCV. The only thing I personally didn't like about them was that they were not attached to the lobby like the BWV, but that was just MY opinion. They are gorgeous, and like the BWV, the location is perfect.

We arrived on Friday about 2:30 and our 2BR was ready. We were given room 554, pool view, near elevators. We let our guests (godson and his parents) enter first and they were blown away at how beautiful the villa was. They have a condo at the shore and they were really impressed by the roominess and how it had just about everything one would need while on vacation.

After we unpacked, we shared a light lunch at Beaches & Cream. We didn't read the menu carefully until the second time we went there, so the hamburger was a little too well done for our tastes, but it clearly states they are cooked well done unless otherwise specified. Next time we'll know better.

The godson went swimming for awhile, then we went to Epcot. We ate dinner at Teppanyaki. We had a great chef. His name was Akira and he was very entertaining, to the point that the people at the table behind ours were applauding him. We must have eaten there at least 8 times over the years, and this was the first time we ever had a chef make us a volcane out of the onions and he made two. It was quite a sight. We then saw Illuminations from the balcony and as always it was fabulous.

Saturday morning we got our first sprinkling of pixie dust. We went to Hollywood & Vine and just as we were about to order breakfast, I realized I left the Connections breakfast vouchers back at the villa. I really hated the idea of paying almost $100 for breakfast, but it was ridiculous to waste an hour traveling back and forth to the villa. We told our server Jeff and he said he would see what he could do. Greta, the manager, came over, took our information, and told us we could bring them back on Monday when we were returning for Fantasmic. I asked about who to see to make sure I got credit when I brought them in, and she said she wasn't even charging me till Monday at closing time. Name one other place where that would happen!

The weather was extremely hot, even though it was only in the high 80's. The humidity was awful. We factored in swimming time daily which was so hard for me to do. I am so used to commando style touring that it seemed so strange to me to "waste" time away from the parks. It took some getting used to, but with DVC, it's the way to go since we know we'll be back.

Saturday night we ate at the castle and saw Spectro Magic. It was mobbed.

Sunday we went back to Epcot and had breakfast at the food court in the Land. There was nobody there. We jumped on Living with the Land to beat the crowds, but it really wasn't necessary. We saw Food Rocks with just a handful of people. After breakfast we went to see Honey, ISTA, but it was down . We did a few other things, went back and got in. We then went back to the pool and got ready for Hoop Dee Doo.

We previously decided to take a cab to HDD so I didn't give the buses a thought. The cab driver could only drive us so far, then we had to take a bus in from the outpost. No problem, a bus came soon enough, but it was raining so it wasn't great when they wouldn't let us in for another 20 minutes. Everyone was huddled on the porched. Saw the show, then went to catch the bus to the Beach Club. WHOA! There is no bus to the Beach Club. We had to take a bus back to the outpost, then take a bus to Downtown Disney, then to the Beach Club. Do you know how long that would take? It would be endless. We had no choice but to take a bus to the outpost, then we hopped onto the first bus that came along. It was to Epcot, the only problem was that it was 9:30 and Epcot was closed so they were never going to let us in to walk through. As luck would have it, the first stop was Wilderness Lodge and everyone including us got off the bus. I went to the phone to call a cab while the godson's mother was grilling the bus driver on how were we to get back. Well, the pixie sprinkled again, and the bus driver said he would take us all the way to the Beach Club. We were eternally grateful and the bus driver got a very generous tip which he didn't want to take, but we insisted.

I would think that this will have a terrible impact on Hoop Dee Doo. We already have our reservations for Nov 03, and I am very seriously considering canceling them. You definitely need a car if you're doing this show, and we never get one. With the bus driver's kindness we got in about 10:25, without it, it may have been closer to midnight. Not worth it in my opinion.

I see I've rambled on too long. The rest of the trip was fabulous as well. Had breakfast at Donald's and the Beach Club, did the Fantasmic Dinner at the Brown Derby, saw the show (standing room only), and all too soon it was over. Cannot wait to go back!

If you have any questions, ask away.

P.S. I can't believe my message says Boardwalk. I told you I was stressed. I forgot to change it when we switched over to BCV.

Your experience is why most of us say rent a car and use it for getting from one resort to another. There are no resort to resort buses other than the resorts that share a bus. FW is an extreme example due to the extra bus component each way and the usually late time when the middle and late Hoop shows are out. I'm glad things worked out.

AuntSue...

Thanks for sharing your impressions and comments on your recent stay. A very nice report with lots of interesting stories.

We always drive so the car thing is not that big of a deal. But it does seem that Disney would have figured out some special sort of transportation for HDDR guests!

Thanks for the report....not too long at all!

I can agree on the heat last weekend - we found lots of cool things to do - pools and water parks.

We also found Epcot deserted on Sunday. We were the only people on Imagination to see the new Figment (really cool!!). We were also the only people in the theater for Honey I Shrunk the Audience. The announcer deviated from the script and told us he'd take our glasses personally after the show!! We also walked on Test Track from the standby line. No ressies needed to eat at the Tempura bar at Japan. I'm not sure why Epcot was so empty, maybe everyone is waiting for the Wine and Food Festival to start this Saturday to visit. It was equally empty this afternoon and evening. MGM and MK weren't as empty on Monday and Tuesday this week. Nor was AK last Saturday. BB was pretty empty yesterday, and the air temp was a perfect 85 degrees and sunny. Perfect for floating on the Lazy River.

AuntSue,

A happy trip report is never to long! Thanks for sharing - It makes me happy to know Disney magic is alive and well - Glad you had such a wonderful trip!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I loved your report! Could you tell me about the Donald breakfast? Thanks!

TL Mom...The Donald breakfast is the Restaurantasaurus in Animal Kingdom. We just call it the Donald breakfast. We've been there before and my husband likes the food selection, so we always do it on Animal Kingdom day. It was good, although it didn't start out well.

We were a party of five, and after waiting for our table for about ten minutes, they usher us into a table for four with a chair in the aisle for the fifth person. It had all kinds of things on it, condiment tray etc., so there was no way it was going to be comfortable for five. My husband said, "Absolutely not, we're not paying this kind of money for breakfast to be squished at a table. Why can't we just have that larger table over there?" Well, we couldn't just move over to the table for six because they are all preassigned so we had to wait until the girl went back outside and got us assigned to a new table. After standing in the middle of the restaurant for about ten minutes more, she finally came in and took us to a table for six in the back. Much more acceptable, plus it was not as crowded there so the characters stayed longer. It worked out very nicely.

Dean...How bad is the drive in from the airport? My husband doesn't drive because he is legally blind so I have to drive. I don't like to drive in unfamiliar places, because I have to drive and navigate simultaneously and I find that difficult. How do you find your way from resort to resort? About how much is it to rent a car for a week?

Granny...I can't believe you drive from Missouri. I hate driving down the shore.

Thank you for a wonderful trip report!

Too bad about the difficulties getting back from HDDR. I don't know if this would have worked or not, but when you're staying at one of the Epcot resorts you can get pretty creative with bus transportation. If we're in a hurry we take the first bus to arrive out of Swan/Dolphin, Boardwalk, Yacht/Beach Club. Then you either just walk around the Boardwalk to your resort or take a boat to where you need to be. In a really tough situation from another resort, a bus to MGM would also work, again taking the boat to your resort. Obviously, buses don't run park to park so that last solution would only work if you were at one of the resorts.

I'm sure others can answer better than I. I've only driven it once and it was before the last toll road was open. I don't remember it being difficult though.

So glad you had a great time. I love reliving the magic through other's trip reports. We have a trip planned for 11/11-11/15 but FIL is terminally ill so we'll have to wait and see.

About the drive from the Orlando airport, it is so easy. Just follow the South exit signs out of the airport to the Greenway. I think its Hwy. 417 and it's an easy drive to WDW with the WDW exits very clearly marked. My DD and I went by ourselves last spring and didn't have any trouble. That's one reason I like WDW and the Orlando area. It is very easy to find your way around.

Do you mind if I ask how much the cab was from BCV to the outpost? Or does anyone know where there is more info on cab costs?

We are staying at the All Stars in Feb, but going on a cruise so I need to take a cab to a resort where the DCL bus will pick up!

Thanks!

Diana Lyn...The cab ride from BCV to the outpost was $11.50 without tip. I find it pretty expensive to take a cab anywhere. We took a cab once or twice in May and I don't think the cost was ever less than $10, but if you are going from resort to resort it's certainly the fastest. My sister was at the All Stars in May and she took a cab every single day, because she usually came by us every night at the BWV and it would have taken forever to get back to ASMO.
