Disney at Halloween. We've done Disney during summer, thanksgiving, andChristmas but never Halloween. We actually don't even celebrate Halloween! We are disney lovers, we want to experience the parks at all times of year and enjoy the special things they do for each season. This trip will just be my wife and myself and our granddaughter. Son will not be going as college is still in session and missing a week of class won't work. We will take a separate trip during his winter break. Disney at Halloween obviously we plan to do the party! Can anyone tell us more about what the party is like? Once you buy tickets for the party, do you have to leave the park and re-enter for the party, or can you just stay in the park as long as you can show that you already bought your tickets for the party- that you are not trying to stay without tickets! if that makes sense . Can you ride rides during the party or are there other things you'd rather do. Is there a parade. Basically any tips or things not to miss out.

Trying to remember as it has been a while, but seems to me we had bracelets and we excited the park and came back later. I do remember that the rides were open and we rode things multiple times because the lines were short. It was fun for us and our 5 grandchildren.

Not sure how they handle the bracelets if you're already in the park, but I do not think you would need to leave and come back in.

The rides are all available during the party. Along with candy stations. And the Boo To You Parade is a lot of fun.

I am not a Halloween guy either, but enjoy MNSSHP immensely.

Thanks :) We are excited. Our little girls gonna love it. I read that kids are able to dress up like they're trick or treating, and since we don't really "do" Halloween, I'm sure that will be different and exciting to her.

We aren't big Halloween fans but we LOVE MNSSHP. If you are already in the park, there are stations set up where you can go get your wristband. There is always one in Tomorrowland. Last year, there was one in Fantasyland. You can also walk to the front of the park and with it without exiting- but it is usually easier to do it at one of the other stations.

The party has a great atmosphere. It is so fun to see even the adult guests dressed up in costume acting like kids. You can ride the rides, but we usually spend most of our time meeting all the special characters, and watching the parade and shows. The Halloween parade is great-- the headless horseman rides through about 15 minutes before the parade and you definitely don't want to miss seeing that. Last year the new Hocus Pocus show started at the castle and it is a great show. There will be characters out that you can't see at other times- such as last year Jack and Sally, Cruella, Jafar, Abu and Genie, Tarzan and Jane etc. Also, some of the characters will be wearing their Halloween costumes which you can't see during regular hours such as Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and the Pooh Characters. Some of the characters do change from year to year- so you can't be sure who will show up until the first party. The Haunted Mansion usually has some special lighting and fog and ghosts Carlotta and Renatta take turns sitting outside on a bench on the lawn telling stories. They are hilarious and so sweet. DD usually wants to watch them for a long time, especially Carlotta. There are special Magic Shots- with my favorite being a picture with the hitchhiking ghosts- that location tends to move about every year. Last year it was down by Splash where Woody and Jessie used to meet (didn't they just change locations a month or two ago), but before that it was usually around Haunted Mansion somewhere. Usually there are dance parties too, which can be a fun way to meet characters. There were always 2 dance parties until last year- and there was just 1 in Tomorrowland last year with Monster's Inc. characters. Hopefully, the 2nd one will reappear this year. There is a special party fireworks show too.

We love WDW in October. Beautiful weather. Warm enough for shorts, t-shirts, and swimming, but comfortable for walking around. Not surface of the sun hot like summer. LOL.

My kids LOVE MNSSHP. They loved being able to dress up and ToT in MK they got tons of candy and the Boo to You parade really is great. Personally I think the party tickets are well worth the price.

No, you don't have to leave the park. As other said there will be stations at the front of the park where you can show your tickets and get a wrist band.

That being said, we don't usually do the park during the day. We don't get park tickets for that day. We sleep in and swim and when the kids were little nap, and head over to MK at 4 (they will let you in with a party ticket at 4) Since we know it was going to be a later night for the kids we got a later start.

We love MNSSHP and usually plan for two parties every trip. Trick-or-treating around MK (they have maps with the stations), the Boo to You Parade is so much fun, the HalloWishes fireworks are the best that Disney does, plus the fun atmosphere of the costumes, the dance parties, etc.

Just remember - it is HOT! Don't plan on heavy costumes - we've been to parties where it's in the 90s late at night. Most commonly it's in the high 80s, so still too hot for heavy bunting on costumes and long sleeves.

I am happy you mentioned the costumes. I wasn't sure how to dress the kids for the party.

we are attending our first MNSSHP this October. Does anyone know when a schedule of events for this year will be officially out? thanks

I am happy you mentioned the costumes. I wasn't sure how to dress the kids for the party.

We've done full costumes and had to strip down about 10:00. Lately we usually just do the t-shirt style of costumes or homemade, to make sure they're light and airy.

With all the candy being given out do I need to provide a bucket? I have heard that Disney provides "something" to collect the candy. What is the "something" provided? Thanks in advance.

We are going for our first time in October and I was told that Disney gives each guest "something" to collect the candy in. Can you tell me what that "something" is. I was thinking about buying a special bucket. Thanks in advance.

The something is a small plastic bag with the MNSSHP logo on it. We brought along the fabric pumpkins because if we had brought the plastic kind I'm sure my toddler would have caused a ruckus. She loves the sound of shaking things like maracas! Lol

The headless horseman is incredible. He rides about 15 minutes before the parade. There are 2 parades during the party. They are the same parade, but you get two chances to see it. The Hocus Pocus show is on multiple times.

They hand out small bags for the candy. We bring large bags of our own. I really enjoyed trick or treating. There was just something magical about seeing the large orange globes that designated the candy spots. And there was a candy trail with multiple candy spots on the path that runs from the Barnstormer to Space Mountain.

Kenny the Pirate has a good write up on MNSSHP on his website.

I'm hoping to get to take my kiddos to WDW during late Oct through early Nov and I am so excited about the MNSSHP! We've been during Thanksgiving, Spring Break, and in August so it'll be exciting to see Disney during Halloween!
