Disney in May

DH and I have gone several times in May. That is always our winter vacation from northern Minnesota.... By the time I get him to commit to taking another Disney vacation, the earliest dates to stay there are in May!

I can't give a judgement on weather in May, coming from northern MN. It has always seemed perfect to me! Spring doesn't start here until at least then.

You Boston people must be expecting the snow storm we are having now. We have had several this year, so late in the season. Our schools are starting late today (rarely happens) and it's still snowing.

I will be in WDW the first week of May this year with a lady friend. We picked that week to celebrate our birthdays!

I'm a bit concerned about our last week of May trip. We know heat well but humidity is another story. We melt with very little humidity.

Speaking of weather..... it's been crazy wierd this winter so far. We spent the whole winter yoyoing between 85 and 35. One week it would be warm and gorgeous, the next it would be freezing and rainy. Feb 20th we had a blizzard! I know in Tucson! This past week we hit record highs of 92 and 93. It has been freakin' hot out! I just wish we could get some middle of the road spring weather 70's would be nice. :flower3:

I'm taking my mom for Mother's Day May 11 to 18! We are both very excited as this is the first trip we have taken as girls only in many years!

We have done Disney in December (annual family trip) and the heat of July and August, we are hoping that this is that in between temperature wise! It's great hearing all the feedback from people who have been in may!

My question pertains more to Mother's Day than weather, for those that have been over Mothers Day, did you find the parks particularly crazy???? Does Disney do anything special for the moms????

Thanks for all the wonderful advice and feedback!!!

Krista

We're heading there for May too. We were there in September and the crowds were wonderful, so I'm a little nervous about the crowds this time around since they are predicted to be much higher than what we experienced. Weather wise it sounds like similar to September with less humidity, which is perfect. We're coming from Rhode Island, which like the Mass people means that anything above 70 will feel good.

Above 70 and below 95 would be great!!! ;-)

Add me into the May group. 11-18th. We went in 2010 the same week and absolutely loved it. There was one emh night that was rather chilly, but ds did ok in shorts and a l/s shirt. We swam every day, but it cooled off in the evening. I will take that over the hot and humid Sept. trips we did twice before May.:crazy2: I will say it got uncomfortably hot standing watching Ds do JTA. Glad I wasn't in a robe!

Don't remember the crowds, so that must be a good thing. I remember going in late January (pre-Dis for me) in 2008 and thinking it was way more crowded than I anticipated.

Going in May and from Massachusetts as well (Dracut). :)

It will be our kids first time there. My last visit was 20 years ago!

Going in may also, and Massachusetts born and raised, but living in Washington 22 years this may:guilty:. Anyone dance for the Boston ballet company, I did for 22 years, if you ever saw the nutcracker in the 1970 or 1980's you probably saw me. When in Disney may 9th thru 22, look for a very cute white lab, that will be me holding the handle, she is my guide or eyes. Have fun Boston we should all meet up.

You Bostonians will get this, everyone here says you have an accent to me, I say no I don't you all do. Then I do that saying on the commercial years ago, Boston where it all began, if that is where it all began, how can I have an accent. It shuts them up, but it is true everyone else has an accent, but we are from where it all began, especially me, Halifax, in a house that was built in 1620, that is back on the national historical society since my dad refurbished the place from all the original boards and nails, yes wooden nails holds the house and Floors together.

We went to AK on Mothers Day in 2011. The crowds weren't too bad, but more than we expected. They gave out carnations, but you need to get there early before they run out. Have a great trip!

I am also going in May (4-11). I usually go in Sept, so a big change for me.

Hoping for not so hot weather and not to bad crowds.

And no rain!! Or very little rain.

I'm from Vancouver and we have enough rain here :rotfl2: I go on vacation to get away from the rain.:drive:

Arriving May 4th? You should join us in the Illuminations cruise that night. We have 8 people so far...room for two more! Only about $40 per person!

We'll be there in May too! The 17th-24th. This is our first Disney trip so I am very happy to see all the good comments about the weather and crowds in May.

We went in may 2011 and loved it. In my opinion, the earlier the better, we went the first week. It was HOT, about 92 every day and the humidity was out in full force so we did swim quite a bit! The lines were longer than our October trip, but still reasonable. We liked the flower and garden fest, which now seems to be even better, more like the food and wine with booths! We are hoping to catch this next year!:hippie:
