Disney in May

I've gone early May and loved it! If you get in early it should be great! Warm, but not overbearing and the crowds were good!

Hot enough to swim but bring a light hoodie for night. Weather is awesome in may

May is the perfect time to go! It's warm (usually sunny - we've been twice in May (two weeks each trip) and only experienced one afternoon of a brief rain shower that lasted 20 minutes). It's warm in the evening also - we never needed a jacket! DH and DS wore shorts in the evening. DD and I were fine in our skirts/dresses!

So glad to hear some positive May comment! I have read other threads where it was nothing but how hot and humid it was.

I went on a girls long weekend 1 year at Mother's day. The weather was humid but not too hot. Another year we went the first week of May and the weather was great. We wore shorts for both trips and our 1 late night it was not too cool. This year we are going the last week in May.

We have been several times in May. The typical weather is warm to even hot during the day with coolish evenings. On one trip we experienced pouring rain for the entire 10 day stay. It was awful....but very unusual!!! In general, early May weather at Disney I ps really nice! Almost perfect IMHO!

We went a couple years ago starting Mother's Day. It was waaaay too HOT by then; in the mid-90s! I ended up with the dreaded heat rash on the bottoms of both legs. The sun is extremely intense in May, so be prepared.

How should Disney be in May?

Typically the temps will range from the mid-80s to the mid-90s, but not as much humidity and rain as later in the summer. The crowds are usually fairly light (save for Mother's Day and Memorial Day weekends). But one thing to keep in mind is that crowd levels this winter have been up. So have a plan, use rope drop and Fastpasses and you should be fine.

While weather is USUALLY milder in May, it CAN be hot and humid. Recently (last year?) it was 95 when we were there the first full week in May. Crowds are manageable. Expect hoards of jr high kids at Epcot on Fridays during F&G.

The earlier in the month you go, the lighter crowds tend to be.

Rope drop is when the parks open. The CMs hold a rope to hold back the crowds, and then, at the opening time, they either pull back ("drop") the rope or start walking forward with the rope to guide Guests in a mannerly order to attractions.

Joking.
I love May, but I'm trying to keep it for myself :rotfl:

Weather is nice, crowds are manageable, and I re-up my time off from work!

For about 10 years we were there every May at some point during the first two week to celebrate our anniversary (we went to Disney for our honeymoon) and we experienced mostly great conditions...hot, but not too humid yet, very little rain, and lower crowd levels. One year, due to other obligations, we couldn't get there until May 22nd or 23rd, which was a few days before the Memorial Day weekend that year and it was noticeably more crowded and hotter...I think temps were mid 90's that week....it was the week Saratoga Springs officially opened and there were all sorts of DVC special events....one night MK was open for only DVC members...another was a DVC only dessert party for Illuminations.....we had an awesome time.....however, daytime temps were very hot. So, IMO the earlier in the month you arrive, the better.

4 years ago this is what we experienced! We thought it would never stop raining and when it did it was so hot and humid we wanted the rain back!!! We said we would never go in May again!
Well.... We're going back May 9th.
Truth is you never know what the crowds or weather will be like so you just adjust and have fun no matter what!!!
