Disney Idiosyncrasies

We always buy Christmas ornaments at die Weihnachtsecke (Germany in Epcot WS).

Martin

We always go to HS first and ride the Tower of Terror. :scared1:

The Red Dragon is almost always on our slate for eateries.

We always ride spaceship earth and press the wrong language. :rotfl:

My jack skellington purse with all of pins is in tow.

We buy trader pins for the trip off of EBAY!

ONLY THREE WEEKS AND I"M THERE! :thumbsup2

We really don't have any traditions since we've only been there once (last year), but I look forward to starting some now that our second trip is only about 1 month away! Can't wait.

I do believe our first FULL day will always be Magic Kingdom though.

Love reading everyone's replys. This is definately a "feel good" thread and really makes me want to be in Disney World right now!...

Dan

We are ready for Disney too!

DH, DD, my DSis, BIL, and Dniece all have "bad boys" (for the boys) and "bad girls" (for the girls) tee shirts that we bought YEARS ago (12?) at the Studios. They have Villains on them... Ursula, Wicked Queen, Witch, Cruella, Lady Tremaine & Stepsisters... guys have Gaston, Scar, Jafar, aw jeez, can't think of all of them now. ANyhow, they also glow in the dark, and we wear them as nightshirts on every trip... even when we don't all go to Disney together! DD and I also have other Disney shirts that we only wear AT Disney, but the Bad Girls/Boys are a family tradition.

We often stay offsite. When approaching the Disney World sign that stretches across the highway, we always chant, "We're in Florida, we're in Florida, we're in old, boring Florida, we're in... DISNEY WORLD!!!" and cheer as we pass under the sign. It's also tradition, when leaving along the highway, to say "UP BUCKLE" when we pass the sign reminding folks to use their seatbelts. The kids LOOK for that sign and are always disappointed if we exit the WDW area by a different route. Lame, OK, but we are happy and easily amused:laughing:

Each trip demands one "new" something. It can be a simple as riding the boat over to WL, or as extravagant as dinner at California Grill or a trip to Cirque du Soleil... but there's always something new every trip. (this fall it'll be F&W Fest!!)

1. We must go to MK first

2. We always walk around the park in a clockwise direction

3. POTC is always our first ride - I'm only at WDW once I'm able to smell that water!

4. We always have our first lunch at Pecos Bill's

5. We usually watch parades from the left hand side of Main Street (facing the castle). We can and do watch from other places - but it's just not the same!

6. I must have a hot dog from Casey's before Wishes. It's the law.

7. At Epcot, I always scream at the part of TT when the car is about to hit the crash doors (just before they open). I know we're not going to hit them but I scream anyway. Everyone else in the car has some odd looks for me.

8. I often have a hot dog at the Backlot Express. When I do I have mustard on it. DH will inevitably ask me if I like mustard, and we will proceed to have the same conversation we always have when I put mustard on a hot dog.

9. Every year we buy the same photo album (blue one with the 3d castle on the front)

10. I am incapable of walking from one side of DTD to the other without walking through the World of Disney.

I didn't realise we had so many until I started writing!

We always take the first flight out, relax the first day and go to Down Town Disney for Diner at Wolf Gang Puck's and Goofy's Candy shop for dessert.
On our first full day we always go to MK and enter by Monorail. The first ride we always go on is Dumbo.
On our last full day we always go to MK. When we leave we wave at the castle and say "see you real soon" and take the monorail back.

1) I've been taking a pic of DD (14yo) holding onto the Sword in the Stone sword each trip since she was about 6yo.

2) She also has to go to Club Cool every visit to Epcot.

3) We usually go in June and arrive on Saturday evening then head over to the MK.

Every year we buy a christmas tree ornament, a magnet, and a photo album. All with the year we went on them.

Ditto for us on numbers 1, 3 and 9! :)

1. We always take the boat to MK on our first day, never the monorail.

2. Our arrival day we always arrive early, go to DTD for shopping and lunch and eat dinner at 'Ohana.

3. Manage to eat at least one meal at Biergarten. (Not my favorite, but everyone else loves it).

4. Buy a tinkerbell to bring home.

5. Watch Illuminations while eating dessert and drinking champagne.

6. Never, ever, miss Fantasmic.

Always have to have the wife take a picture of me and the kids (DS15/DD11) by the reverse waterfall in Epcot. It's cool so see how much they've grown but it's also a little depressing too. My son went from being a little guy to where he's taller than me!

Epcot is always our first park and Soarin' is always our first ride. Plus it never fails that the wife has to hit the first restroom to the right of Spaceship Earth. Doesn't matter if she just went 5 minutes before - it's some sort of Pavlovian response or something. On the plus side, it's always my first chance to hear the Soarin' theme music.

Wow...I bet she does it on purpose and just looks at herself in the mirror until a reasonable amount of time has passed!

I forgot to add that we ALWAYS eat at Boma... it's a tradition!
Also, I ALWAYS buy a new edition of the Unofficial Guide if we are planning a trip (even though I have one from last year... off to Borders right now to get this year's!).

I love reading about everyone's Disney "traditions" and I didnt realize I had my own until I read this thread and thought about what me and my gang do for our Disney trips.

1. I always buy us new underwear for the trip. I know I have issues!:upsidedow

2. We always take the first flight out in the morning, which leads to .....

3. We stay at a "Park and Fly" hotel since it is about 2 hours to Dulles Airport from our house, we eat a nice sit-down dinner and then go swimming in the hotel pool for a while before an early lights out. I take my little happy pill (Xanax) and snooze the night away!:cloud9:

4. After we check-in at the resort, we buy two refill mugs and load one with soda for me and the girls and DH fills his with coffee. We always get our moneys worth with those mugs! Then its off to our first park!:woohoo:

5. Our last park is always the MK and our last ride is always Peter Pan's Flight, I truly dont know how PP'sF became our last ride but is has been since 2005.:confused3. I, like almost everyone else on this thread, tell the castle good night and I will see you in about 2 years!

6. While waiting for ME to take us to MCO, I make the last minute mad dash thru the gift shop and get the little stuff I have been putting off until then. Plus I use the last snack credits and buy Mickey Rice Crispies for my nephews!

7. I always by a Disney Photo Album, I get the one with the silver medallion on the front and the black pages with the silver pen to write. And I usually have the pictures in and pages filled about a week after we are home.

:lmao:

I always ride Splash for my first ride in the MK.

I always have a little happy cry (from behind my sunglasses!) when I go into the MK first time of the trip

:woohoo: the happy cry starts for me when I first see the castle, then I *know* I'm at disney :cloud9:
We always start off at splash mountain, too.

No trip is complete without a casey's corner hotdog!

We hit epcot the first day always with an ADR at the Biergarten.
We must have a meal at Boma!(sometimes two!). I always get an ornament with the year on it! And recently, I started buying a fancy bird ornament in Germany. A magnet, of course, and a photo album with the year. These are my special souvenirs...my dh and dd are big on shirts and ears respectively:)
Speaking of ornaments, I lost my special 25th anniversary ornament and would love to know if there was a way to get another? :confused3

You guys should start some sort of 'DISer Ornament Club', I bet it would be a hit!:cheer2: There should be a forum just for that!

You would have to ask all these other ornament lovers about your 25th anni. ornament. Sorry you lost it.
