Disney Idiosyncrasies

OMG! I almost forgot about our ornaments! We buy one with the year and then just a decorative one! Our tree is all disney!

This is us too. Ours have to have the date though. We have one from every year since 1991 (honeymoon). If we don't go, I ask someone I know who is going to get a dated one for me and bring it back.

The first 4 full days have to be done in the order that the parks opened:
Day 1-MK
Day 2-EPCOT
Day 3-HS
Day 4-AK
After that its a free for all.

I always turn left into Adventure land the first day at MK.

When they play the video on the ME bus on the way back to the airport I always cry the minute they start to sing "Now it's time to say goodbye to all our company....."

Well, I see I'm wearing my WDW polo shirt, which means I have only one week until vacation starts! I don't hit WDW until Labor Day, but it's on the list...
:rotfl:
I have a buch of Disney t-shirts that I have collected in the past three years since I've last been there and I won't wear them until I get to WDW. This includes a rare Space Mountain t-shirt, which will, of course, be worn for the first time at MK.

THIS TIME, my first Disney park will be Animal Kingdom. In my last visit I did Blizzard Beach first as a "preview" to Magic Kingdom. Is that sooo wrong?
:)
One tradition that recently died was that one night during our trip, my DGF and I would go to 8-Trax...
:sad1:

Oh, and the first ride at Magic Kingdom HAS to be Space Mountain...

Followed closely by it's a small world....
:yay:

The first place we go on the first day is the MK for a picture in front of the Mickey Mouse flowers in front of the train station. Its not Disney World unless we do that first :)

I always buy each member of the family a new tshirt. (we get a lot of souveniers but that is one we always do)

I always wear my Mickey Crocs...I may need a new pair. hmmmm...

*watching the parade with an ice cream cookie sandwich from the Main St Bakery :goodvibes
*Ending our trip at MK watching the parade and wishes :cool1:
*eating breakfast at CM :lovestruc
*turning around at the end of Main St. to get one last glimpse of the castle until next time....
*family picture on Main St w/ Castle in the background :thumbsup2
*Ornament for Christmas tree w/ year and kids pick out their own

I buy a new mickey t shirt on every trip. It has to mickey and it has to have graffiti on it. I only wear these shirts at WDW. I finally racked up enough of them to wear for every day of our trips... and then I went and booked an 8 day trip... I've got to buy two shirts this time to make up for it... :rotfl:

We always get the earliest direct flight to Orlando- this trip we should get to WDW @ 9:45am

Use the Tiffany town car service to take us to WDW from airport and get the same driver every time

First day is always @ MK

Last day is always @ MK (usually tears are running down my face, and my poor hubby has to deal with me)

Last ride is always Big Thunder Mt.

Have to stop @ Main ST bakery for a sweet treat for the next morning

@ Epcot we always find my picture @ leave a legacy stone walls from when i was 16 and then the one with my hubby and I from the trip we got enaged there

@ Epcot we watch illuminations from Mexico

Take our picture @ The Wilderness Lodge Villas DVC sign

Get a pin with the year on it

Get a Christmas ornament

Like i said just to name a few....

First evening is always spent at MK
Last evening is always spent at MK
Always get a picture with Mickey

Never spend the first day at MK (because that's what EVERYONE does!!!) lol....

I plan our wardrobe right along with our park days... yes, I'm THAT mom.
I always make DH wear matching shirts at least once, and he groans, but does it for me :)
We always say we'll do Universal "next time" (and still have yet to plan that trip)
I always gasp like a little girl and tear up when I see that castle.
I always alternate wearing my minnie crocs one day, with tennies the next and am upset if we meet minnie the day I'm not wearing my minnie shoes!
I force us to dine at least two new restaurants per trip - and that's tough - knowing what we love and moving past it!
We always have to have a princess meal and Chef Mickey's.

And this is a mean one but I always laugh when I overhear non-disneyfiles talking about things that are totally wrong.... for example, I once heard that Universal is a subsidiary of disney and you can use your park hoppers there. . . or my most favorite - this man screaming at his kids because they were going to miss their fastpass window and they had to be in line right on the dot when it started ! It's horrible, but I love being one of the few of us that knows more of the tricks than all of "the others." ;) I know I'm naughty...but Don't judge!

Here are a few of ours:

1. We always enter Epcot through International Gateway and when we get close enough to hear the music, we hold hands and skip (I know, super cheesy but we've always done this, even before we were married).

2. On our last morning, we do a character breakfast (usually Cape May Cafe).

3. We always have a package shipped home from the Christmas shop at DTD. So of course we always pick up a few ornaments on each trip! When the package reaches our house, it's like an extension of the trip when we open everything and ooohh and ahhhh. (We have a Disney Christmas tree, too!)

4. We plan several new things for each trip (new restaurants, tours, etc.) but we keep our favorites in the rotation as well.

5. At least one day, we wear matching character shirts (not the same exact shirt but the same character!).

Love reading everyone else's! :yay:

Our tradition is always to eat at CM on the night we arrive. Ride the monorail loop and get geared up for the first full day!

  1. I always buy a new Disney guidebook or other Disney book to read on the plane. I have the 2nd Edition of Mousejunkies sitting in my closet right now. It is killing me not to read it yet!
  2. Dh, DD and myself all wear Disney t-shirts everyday during our trip.
  3. Our first park is always Epcot.
  4. Our first ride is always Spaceship Earth.
  5. We always eat breakfast at Tusker House.
  6. We do at least 2 character dinners.
  7. i always spend way to much money but love everything i buy!

We love hitting up the good rides during parade time ;)

being from New Orleans, we have seen our share of parades and use this time to get on the rides with less crowds :rotfl: :rotfl2:

We also always go to Alfredos and the Japanese Hibachi restaurant...we haven't been since 2005  ....we are going to miss Alfredos

Good ones!:rotfl:

My kids tease me, but I really need to take a boat ride as soon as I can. DTD to Port Orleans, DHS to EPCOT, TTC to MK, wherever we can slip one in. I like arriving by boat!

We really don't have any traditions since we've only been there once (last year), but I look forward to starting some now that our second trip is only about 1 month away! Can't wait.

I do believe our first FULL day will always be Magic Kingdom though.

Love reading everyone's replys. This is definately a "feel good" thread and really makes me want to be in Disney World right now!...

Dan
