Disney Hurricane Update

Kids are soooooo sweet! (We grown ups can learn alot from them). I absolutely love what your son said about Mickey protecting everyone in the castle.:D

Thank you soo much! he is a doll! My son tends to see the magic everywhere! i hope it is always in his heart.

I never know what he is going to say or do but he always manages to put that tear in my eye and the lump in my throat:hug:

Kids are awesome. we could all use a course in kid ideology::yes::

I agree. I go to WDW twice a year so it certainly isn't a once in the lifetime trip and I would still be upset if this came along during my vacation.

Has anyone heard from Tyler or AspiringCindy?:(
They are both so kind and helpful on these boards. ::yes:: I pray they and everyone else there are OK.
Please let us know if anyone has heard from any more of our DIS friends.

I heard from Tyler last night...just before the storm hit he was at home...AspiringCindy is staying at the Poly and doesn't have a CP to post and her sister is not available she is down visiting her Mother in Puerto Rico...

Has anyone heard how we can make monetary donations? I feel so bad for the people in Florida who have lost their homes. I sit here in my home in New Jersey and realize how blessed I am and really feel the need to help.

thanks.

They are saying to send monetary donations only to red cross - phone number is 1-800-help-now. They are asking for money only - no clothing or furniture.

Fox News Channel was listing phone #'s you could call to donate money or labor.

:wave2: Hello Becky, check your PM's. My children too have been wondering all am about WDW. We all here in Alabame send our best to all of you there. Those living and those visiting.

My thoughts, prayers and pixie dust to all of those in Charley's path from Canada. I hope everyone is OK.

Other then the damage to double tree that I read about anyone know if anything else was damaged??

I have been watching CNN which is the only news we are getting any detailed reports from and they haven't mentioned any particular damage to Disney just mentioned places along the gulf that have been hit.

Again, my thoughts and prayers to you all, keep close to each other and be safe.

Tyler, how did you make out with the storm? Still have power and phones?

We live in Davenport and don't have either. I am in a hotel until things return to normal.

Stay safe.

Hey Charlie, fun reading and to see what Disney did.

I live in SW Florida and just got our power back. Out about 30 hours or so. We made it fine with just some palm trees down. We were on the left side which is the good side. The town 30 miles the east of us was devestated. Hurricanes are funny, we are looking so good and so many people just a little bit away were so hurt. Thanks to all for their prayers.

HEY EVERYONE!!!!!

I'm back. What a storm! Everything is okay over here... I live right behind the Magic Kingdom... (Litterally, the Magic Kingdom is across the street) Minor damage to my apartment complex, but we did lose power for about two days.

Moderate damage to Disney... TONS of trees down all over. I felt bad for a lot of Cast Members who got hit hard, and had a lot of property damage. Staffing was VERY short property wide on Saturday, since many cast members couldn't make it into work.

What KILLS me though is that when I went into work on Saturday, I had a bunch of guests who were like, "Ugh, I don't understand what the big deal was, or why they had to close the parks. It was just some rain and wind!" It was these same people who didn't understand why some things weren't open, or why we were so short staffed. :( :(

Glad to see your post Tyler, We had heard from many in the area, but last I heard from you was Friday night at 8:00pm just before the storm hit...You had me a little worried...

Hi everyone, thank you so much for all the well-wishes while we were at Disney. We're back at home in Kansas City now, with lots of great memories about how the Disney castmembers handled the situation with Charley. We were very impressed, felt totally safe and well cared-for at the WL. They had asked us to stay in our rooms, came around room to room and handed out flashlights just in case, but we never lost power although the lights flickered several times.

I have lots of pics of the damage at the WL if anyone wants to see them. :(

Lora,

First glad you and your family arrived home safe...It was great to hear from you after such a long time...Yes ::yes:: I would love to see your photo's of Wilderness lodge, and also a trip report...:p

Beckie

Tyler: Please let me apologize to you and all the other cast members who had to deal with ANY rude guests during this time. Anyone who's ever been through a hurricane knows what the big deal is. Living here in NC, we understand. I feel for all of you and can't imagine how anyone could be so ignorant.

Hope your house is OK. We have friends near the four corners who had absolutely no damage, and never lost power. Weird how it varied so much from steet to street.

Tyler,

That is just so wrong. Geez, I saw on teh news people staying at a hotel down near Fort Meyers who were actually helping with cleanup on Saturday--yes, the guests, and not complaining about it.

Maybe people get a little too caught up in the magic to think that anything could ever happen at WDW. That's a shame. I heard that those CM's who were able to get in were working 15-20 hour shifts. Those guests should be grateful that they even have anyone there to keep things running. WDW COULD just tell them all to get packing like so many other places have done...

Anne

Tyler thats unreal people have such a narrow view of whats going on, people lost their lives in that little wind and rain.
I'm impressed that you had the park up and running the next morning.

I would like to thank you and all your fellow CM's for keeping our Magical place safe and sound through an awful storm, WDW means so much to so many and you all do a wonderful job to keep us happy.
