Holy smoke! :earseek: Take care everyone....be safe

Just looked at the web cam from Dolphin. Everyone there must be terrified. My prayers go out to everyone. Stay safe and know that people are hoping for your safety all over the country.

My family and I - DH, DS 13, DD 3, MIL and FIL - are here at the Wilderness Lodge. following is something I posted to some friends on another board.

>>>>we're hanging out in our connecting rooms, with the curtains flung wide open, watching the rain and winds pick up, have the tv on, watching it come get us!!! the eye will be right over disney between 8-10 tonight, as a category 2 hurricane. that's what they're saying anyway. sustaining winds to 100 mph. right now it's a cat 4 hurricane, which is what Andrew was in 1992. It's so exciting. I like storms when i feel safe, and I do feel totally safe here at the wilderness lodge. they've evacuated the fort wilderness campground, which is part of disney, closed all the parks as of 1:00 this afternoon, and didnt' even open the Animal Kingdom Park today. Downtown Disney Market place was also closed all day. We *think* that this is only the 3rd time in disney history that they've closed the parks - 1st for Hurr Andrew in 1992, 2nd on 9/11/01, and today. they've tied up all the hanging lanterns, taped up the glass windows in all the doors, roped down all the benches, brought in the chairs and tables from every balcony in the hotel, and have sandbagged some of the doors.

Lora,

What are you doing at WL without letting me know....be safe...and if possable keep us informed.

Yikes! How Scary :( I'm praying that everyone stays safe tonight.

I haven't seen this posted on the boards yet. We received this notice slipped under our door at the WL.

August 2004

Dear Guests:

This is an urgent message!

Dur to the proximity of Hurricane Charley, the possibility is imminent that this area will be under storm conditions. In view of the size, strength, and possible path of this hurricane, we recommend that, if you are in a building away from the main lobby, you remain in your Guest room for your safety and do the following:

*keep away from the windows and stay on the far side of the room.

*Keep your connecting room doors open during periods when privacy is not necessary.

*So that we may reach you in the event of an emergency, do not double lock your Guest room door.

*Leave your Guest room blinds or drapes closed and all patio furniture in the room.

*Do not leave your room until notified.

For your enjoyment, we will have a continuous showing of the following feature films on these channels:

Finding Nemo - channel 14
Monsters Inc - channel 18
Brother Bear - channel 23

Please continue to closely onitor the weather on yo0ur inroom television. We will advise you when the weather authorities have de4termined that the storm has passed. Also, please contact the Front Desk if you have any questions or requirefurther assistance.

Sincerely,
The Cast of Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Villas

Has anyone posted that they gave us a free day on our passes? Actually, what they did was NOT take the day today from your pass when you went into the parks. If you had passes that will expire, you were to see the front desk at your disney resort to receive a 1 day Ultimate Park Hopper pass to be used sometime in the next 10 years.

MAGIC - I did post about going a month or so ago on the WL FAQ thread, but then our plans changed and I didn't think we were going to Disney. I thought we were just going to the beach, St. Pete, where we left from yesterday morning after DH surprised me with Disney tickets!!! :D

The weather channel is predicting the worst to be near Orlando between 9:00-10:00 p.m. Keep us informed! You are in our prayers!

We've been watching the news here in NY and are keeping you all in our prayers as well!!

Blu Orchid, We are in south FL and went through Andrew. Please stay with us as long as you can and keep us posted. God protect ALL of you and our beloved WDW!!!!

Well, I knew you were going...I just didn't know you would be there now...AspiringCindy (Judy) is over at the Poly now...and some new WL'ers Laura and Marco Dinaro may still be at the Lodge they are from Italy and I meet them Sunday a week ago they were going to be staying 14 days...so they may still be there if you will call and find out if they are OK. I'm sure they never expected a Hurricane on their trip. Like I said, "Be safe" and have fun once this big blow is over...

Beckie

:earseek:

They said earlier on the weather channel that a major hurricane hasn't gone in this general path since the '60's, which was before WDW was "born." We're coming for our 2nd trip in Nov. and I hope Mickey and the gang can swim!! :smooth:

Seriously, all who are down there tonight, guests and CMs alike, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Stay safe and know that there are a lot of folks thinking about you!!

It's almost 8:00 here... I live literally, right behind Cinderella Castle. The wind is just starting to pick up... So far I still have power and cable.

The worst of it is supposed to hit Disney and then me within the next hour, so we'll see.

What kills me is that there are still idiots on the road!

The heavy winds and rains have started. The lights have flickered here at the Dolphin once.
Most recent report on the news is that the eye is slightly east of WDW, but, we are under a tornado watch, as well as expecting sustained 70 (minimum) mph winds within the next hour.

I just checked the web cam from the Swan/Dolphin and it's out! Keep us posted!

My webcam for the S&D is still working, but mine is on my weatherbug, maybe that makes a difference.
