Wednesday night we drove up to WDW from Tampa, to visit my parents. We arrived at about 8pm and decided to head on over to the MK to catch Spectro and Wishes. Well, when we arrived there the parade had just begun. (This one started on Mainstreet.) Our first thought was that it was going to be a disaster heading down mainstreet, and getting though the crowds, etc. with the parade going on. So we headed off down the right side of Mainstreet ready for battle, around the circle we went, then we were directed to go BEHIND THE MAINSTREET GIFT SHOPS!!! Yep, once we got to Tony's the resturant on the right side they opened these gates and detoured the incoming crowd behind the scenes to expedite thier trip down mainstreet. We were walking behind the gift shops. I never traveled down mainstreet so fast! We ended up coming out near the rest rooms behind that delicious ice cream shop at the end of Mainstreet.
They had the walk lined with bushes with white ligts to hide all of thier trash areas, office doors, etc. They also had CM's back there directing you though. Walking and talking with you to ensure everyone was having a great time and that they were there to make our experience better. When I asked them why they were doing this, they responded that when they have large capacity crowds this is how they "move everyone around safely and quickly". When exiting after WISHES, we took the same route and were out in no time. I thougt this was very smart on thier part. It made my night that much better. Not having to push a stroller though herds of people and those that just have to STOP in the middle of everyone for no reason. Awesome job!
